Sadly I have had to give up heels to help my poor arthritic knees. Also bunions put paid to nice shoes. I do have lots of nice bags though!
What to wear on a warm but drizzly day with a dress? Can't wear sandals due to wet and can't wear trainers with a dress. I am trying out wide ballet pimps with small heel but the foot liners always show.
I love wearing boots that cover my feet up. But I am not wishing away the summer.

I do agree with anodomini about crocs for round the house, except mine are not the genuine article but some cheaper version I bought for a few pounds. Useful on holiday too, ideal for trekking across a muddy campsite and no great loss if they get left behind by accident. I've also taken mine into hospital as bedroom slippers - easier to take on and off and less sweaty in a hot room.

I wear thongs (flipflops) most of the time in summer - love 'em. This morning I went to Debenhams as I had a £10 voucher to use and came out with a pair of Sketchers Go Walk trainers to use for walking instead of my winter boots. I have had them on all day minus socks and it's like walking on air - the best £54 ( less £10) that I have ever spent!

I hate flip-flops, crocs and the like. I need arch support - how on earth can anyone drive in flip-flops or bare feet?

Oh, Birkenstocks are so comfortable Baubles and they do some lovely styles.

Just to clarify, mine are Flyflots. Can't wear flip flops, not even the ones with the strap across, definitely not the ones that go between the toes. It would be wonderful to have strong well-shaped feet.

Wellies can be dangerous as well, especially if you try to run in them as DH did when he was younger.

Just a little word of warning, I have had three not pleasant falls the latest yesterday. Each one was when I was wearing flip flops - not the cheap rubber kind. The first fall was wearing fit flops in the wet. Quite funny really I was walking our new lurcher puppy, she saw something interesting and took off at greyhound speed with me attached to the lead. She dragged me along on the grass to the feet of a rather handsome dog walker. Strong dog as I am no lightweight.

Sorry I digress. Second fall left me with broken nose, etc etc. yesterday's effort was embarrassing but fortunately left me with nothing worse than scarred knees. The upshot is flip flops are OUT for me.

I've just bought some Sketchers 'Go Walk' pull on shoes, light as a feather and very roomy -bliss!

Have just looked inside my summer shoes which I have worn without any pop socks or other unmentionables today and they still feel fine. They are not very glamorous, navy blue with a bar across, but obviously comfortable as I find it impossible to find shoes that don't make my feet hurt; they are last year's Flyflot shoes.

Tegan many years since I tried M * S shoes but when I did they were the most uncomfortable ever so haven't been back. I'll stick to their undies!

I have a pair of black patent stilletos; I tried to charity shop them recently but couldn't; I now just look at them and sigh . I haven't tried M&S recently. I know their comfort shoes are pretty good.

I never wear leggings, so the problem doesn't arise in my case!

Been away for a few weeks so haven't been on Gn and now I feel the odd one out! I don't buy shoes which have to be worn in and I don't often buy what would be considered sensible shoes either. I love my high heels.

Ana the ankle pop socks are for wearing with leggings. If you wore the longer ones you would see a dip just below the knee.

That's a really good service Tegan. I am going to take a look. I have one pair of rather glamorous black patent shoes with pointed toes and three inch heels which I bought at Christmas. They were from M & S. They don't hurt but are a bit high for walking in so I either wear them when I know I will be only going a short distance from the car or I wear a pair of flat shoes, take a large handbag and put my glam shoes in the bag and change. When trying shoes on I am like one of the ugly sisters from Cinderella, trying to squeeze my bunioned feet into pretty shoes. Occasionally, I find a nice pair that I can fit my horrible feet into and they look quite nice. In my youth my legs were my best feature as I am quite tall. They have stayed reasonably OK and I hate to have to wear frumpy shoes.

My Hotter shoes were delivered today by their special delivery service; there is a local phone number on the box to phone if I want to return them [they will pick them up from my house] and I have 90 days to return them if I need to; what an amzing sevice!

Like you, Galen, I have to have the Mary Jane type with a strap. Thank goodness there is much more choice now.

I must admit to buying some really comfy Hotter shoes recently, pale blue, Mary Jane style. I also live in my Crocs in the summer. Not the clog style, but a pair of their strappy sliders. I love the soles that absorb the bumps and that they can be washed. X

I bought a pair of Accesorise flatties in a pretty peach colour earlier this year.. have them on now but yesterday I realised, after a busy day on trains & buses, that if I am walking, I need a bit more substance in my shoes now #acheyfeet

That's a good idea, Agus, I will try it. I have heard of rubbing Vaseline on blisters instead of using plasters.

Sorry lot aren't we? My most comfy sandals are Clarks, flat, with contoured sole and 2 adjustable [vecro] straps, I have a black and a beigy pair and they look fine with jeans or trousers. I have worn the black ones with black socks and this looks ok too.Normally though, I have bare feet in them [my feet maybe the best part of me!] and wear nail polish.I wear a prettier pair with skirts, dresses.I am always sad to come out of boots though, especially ankle [pixie boots] which are just so comfy.Feet getting hot and rubbing is hell isn't it?I only ever wear old tried and trusted shoes on holiday, vanity has to take a back seat. Mr Rosesarered says he never has a problem [or other men that he knows] with blisters so it must be the silly shoes we wear.Sadly, I think that must be true.

I always rub Vaseline on the inside rim and heel area on new leather shoes. It helps soften the leather and stops rubbing or blisters.

If not barefoot in the house or garden I am comfy in sandshoes.

I'm an eeee fitting on my left foot. I can't wear the pump type as I need a strap over. The choice is very limited.
My feet and ankles hurt all the time anyway, even at rest.

And, I should add, the Crocs are ideal for paddling about in streams with the GC.
