Actually Nonu I am, of course, completely off beam imagining that you were referring to yourself and your husband because I have read the many posts where you described how absolutley wonderful your husband is and the equally frequent posts where you profess how great is your undying love for him. Silly me. I apologise.

Your friend needs to sort out her own problems – trivial, though they appear to be – and you should not be getting distressed about other people's marriages.

I used to get grumpy about things like that. Now I just let him go and find I often have a far nicer time than he does, and he gets quite jealous when he hears what I/we have been up to.

Or, you can always say to your guests 'I'm so sorry that OH is not here, but he preferred going to the races to seeing you lot'. I found that worked very well when his mother was involved. Make him be responsible for his choices, don't feel you have to apologise on his behalf.

But yes, it's irksome at times.

Thing of it is though she has a nice pork joint left over from Christmas, which will roast up nicely with all the things that go with it.
But Don"t worry , after they have all gone she Will with out a doubt , go and spend some money big time, she is not shy or retiring , probably a bit like me !!!

Could you take the family out for a nice meal on Easter Sunday. Perhaps a nice pub somewhere. That's what I would do. Spend his money.

Nonu Are they religious i.e. does Easter have a Christian meaning for them or is it just chocolate? Who invited the family and was he consulted? If she blesses him doing what he wants, why are you bothered? No I don't get it – why has this got anything to do with you? Or are you talking about your husband and yourself and not a friend? But, even then, if you send your husband off to do his own thing with your blessing, why is there a problem? Or is there, if fact, no blessing and that's a load of misleading rubbish?

I would tell your 'friends' husband that you feel really sorry for your 'friend's' friend who's husband is being so selfish this Easter and that you have told her to tell her'friend' to take herself away for a few days and not say when she is coming home. Shirley Valentine springs to mind.

Oh, come clean, Nonu - people are getting confused!

I'm all in favour of people going off and doing things that interest them if their partner doesn't find it interesting. My ex husband came racing with me a few times but he obviously wasn't interested in it so I started going on my own. Different if your friend's wife actually wants to go to Newmarket or the football match, though. Nothing worse than spending the day with someone that isn't really enjoying it.

Mind you, he won't be gone for that long on Sunday, will he...?

What is the problem? Is he not usually allowed out on his own? Is your friend unable to travel on her own?

Is there any reason why your "friend" isn't being taken to the races? As far as I'm concerned, your "friends" husband can stick the football up his bum, but even if your "friend" isn't that bothered about horse racing (which, incidentally, I find very hard to believe) it can be a jolly nice day out even if one is not that interested in perusing the equines.
