(76 Posts)

I have a "friend" who has been married for 43 years January gone.
Her husband
has announced that he will be going to watch Norwich City play on Easter Sunday, right out the blue, bearing in mind he will be going to Newmarket on Thursday for the racing , not taking my "Friend "
incidentally.
The other thing is the family will be arriving tomorrow for the week, is my "friend " right to be jeffin annoyed with said husband.
I myself am mightly -pissed-- off !!

END of RANT 111111111111

I am sure your "friend" can and will think of lots of ways in which he will suffer be able to make it up to her grin

Sorry! It's not funny!

Is there any reason why your "friend" isn't being taken to the races? As far as I'm concerned, your "friends" husband can stick the football up his bum, but even if your "friend" isn't that bothered about horse racing (which, incidentally, I find very hard to believe) it can be a jolly nice day out even if one is not that interested in perusing the equines.

Nonu, your 'friend' has every right to be pissed off! angry

What is the problem? Is he not usually allowed out on his own? Is your friend unable to travel on her own?

Ana Sun 13-Apr-14 21:03:40

Mind you, he won't be gone for that long on Sunday, will he...? confused

Tegan Sun 13-Apr-14 21:03:42

I'm all in favour of people going off and doing things that interest them if their partner doesn't find it interesting. My ex husband came racing with me a few times but he obviously wasn't interested in it so I started going on my own. Different if your friend's wife actually wants to go to Newmarket or the football match, though. Nothing worse than spending the day with someone that isn't really enjoying it.

Ana Sun 13-Apr-14 21:04:59

Oh, come clean, Nonu - people are getting confused! grin

Nonu Sun 13-Apr-14 21:52:55

Betta believe it Soutra

PHO she can"t go because she has the family here. She does indeed enjoy perusing the Equines , she is going to Albuquerque N.M. in the fall for that reason alone . I keep telling her not to use "American Speak" but will she listen , hell no.

Ana, 21.62 I will tell her.

Absent , you don"t get it do you, he does exactly what he wants with her blessing. However, this is Easter, the family are here , so he should be paying mind, nowt like family I say.

Lovely to hear from you all

I would tell your 'friends' husband that you feel really sorry for your 'friend's' friend who's husband is being so selfish this Easter and that you have told her to tell her'friend' to take herself away for a few days and not say when she is coming home. Shirley Valentine springs to mind.

Ana Sun 13-Apr-14 22:01:38

Yes, but the 'friend' can't just up and leave when she's got family coming to stay!

Nonu Sun 13-Apr-14 22:07:39

Sorry Flower, I don"t get yr post!!
Sure my friend won"t either!!

absent Sun 13-Apr-14 22:09:08

Nonu Are they religious i.e. does Easter have a Christian meaning for them or is it just chocolate? Who invited the family and was he consulted? If she blesses him doing what he wants, why are you bothered? No I don't get it – why has this got anything to do with you? Or are you talking about your husband and yourself and not a friend? But, even then, if you send your husband off to do his own thing with your blessing, why is there a problem? Or is there, if fact, no blessing and that's a load of misleading rubbish?

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Apr-14 22:13:04

I think he is being a selfish bugger. Not sure what you can do about it though.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Apr-14 22:14:58

Could you take the family out for a nice meal on Easter Sunday. Perhaps a nice pub somewhere. That's what I would do. Spend his money.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Apr-14 22:15:28

I mean your friend of course.

Nonu Sun 13-Apr-14 22:21:50

OH Absent , and there \I thought you had lightened up since moving to nz.
Good Karma to you !
Enjoy Easter !

Nonu Sun 13-Apr-14 22:28:04

Thing of it is though she has a nice pork joint left over from Christmas, which will roast up nicely with all the things that go with it.
But Don"t worry , after they have all gone she Will with out a doubt , go and spend some money big time, she is not shy or retiring , probably a bit like me !!!
winkwink

Ana Sun 13-Apr-14 22:33:23

Yes - you your friend go girl! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Apr-14 22:36:20

She could get some Easter eggs in for herself. Just in case the miserable old sod other half doesn't get round to putting his hand in his pocket.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Apr-14 22:37:05

Can you tell I'm expert at this stuff?

janerowena Sun 13-Apr-14 22:40:51

I used to get grumpy about things like that. Now I just let him go and find I often have a far nicer time than he does, and he gets quite jealous when he hears what I/we have been up to.

Or, you can always say to your guests 'I'm so sorry that OH is not here, but he preferred going to the races to seeing you lot'. I found that worked very well when his mother was involved. grin Make him be responsible for his choices, don't feel you have to apologise on his behalf.

But yes, it's irksome at times.

absent Sun 13-Apr-14 22:50:26

Actually Nonu I am, of course, completely off beam imagining that you were referring to yourself and your husband because I have read the many posts where you described how absolutley wonderful your husband is and the equally frequent posts where you profess how great is your undying love for him. Silly me. I apologise.

Your friend needs to sort out her own problems – trivial, though they appear to be – and you should not be getting distressed about other people's marriages.
