Would you tell a stranger their jumper was inside out???

I have told a stranger that exact thing but it depends on the stranger - if they looked in a bad mood, I'd leave them to it

I'd like to think that I'd tell someone that they were having a jumper malfunction, I know how I've felt when I wore a cardigan inside out and it wasn't until much later in the day, when I met up with my son, that he pointed it out!

One of the advantages of 'maturity' is that I just laugh things like that off, at one time I would have just crawled away . . .

Atqui Designer labels are worn on the outside, so you probably got away with it anyway!!

I was in a restaurant and a woman walked past me with her skirt tucked in her knickers. I agonised as to whether to tell her but I thought she would die a thousand deaths if she knew, she was obviously waiting for friends and was seated very quickly.

This happened to me. We went out for lunch with friends and I was wearing a top that's exactly the same inside out. The only clue was a small label at the back. When we were leaving DH and his friend went to pay and it wasn't until we were home that he showed me a note that he'd shoved in his pocket. It was handed to him by the waitress and said,

'I think I'd better point out that your wife has her top on inside out. I didn't say anything to save you (and her) embarrassment.'

To say I hit the roof was putting it mildly. Nobody sitting at our table noticed, I wasn't on a day out from the local loony bin and why should DH be embarrassed???

When I'd finished yelling, 'Do people like that ever get over themselves,' I remembered I'd left a jolly good tip.

I've let a stranger know her top was inside out, she thanked me.

If it was obvious I'd be happy if someone told me.

It would depend on the look of the stranger and also the circumstances, but generally I am wary of telling strangers anything like that.

I walked up to a woman who had the back of her skirt hitched up into her waistband, and mentioned it. Her response wasn't embarrassment but one of appreciation. I'd certainly have appreciated it if someone had mentioned it to me.

I wore my new jumper out for lunch this week. A kindly woman at a nearby table told me the labels were hanging down my back. I almost wished she hadn't, because she was much more embarrassed than I was. I said thanks, and she shoved the labels down my back - job done.

If my jumper was on inside out, I'd appreciate a discreet tap on the shoulder so I had the opportunity to sort it out. I was at an OU summer school and came out of the Ladies in the main chancellors building, crowded, and a kind soul nipped behind me to let me know my long skirt was tucked right up to my waist. I couldn't thank her enough. I'd have died a thousand deaths if I'd walked through the crowd looking like that. Mind, that was in the 80s - I'd laugh it off nowadays.

I remember when I was Stateside 2/3 years ago, a lady coming up to me and saying "the zip on your trousers is down", I was pleased she mentioned it.

I wouldn't bother to tell anyone, and I wouldn't be in the least bit embarrassed if it happened to me. So unimportant.

Well thanks for your opinions and stories. I shall certainly say something discreetly if I see someone else in the same state, and from now on I will double check!

I wouldn't have minded if the waitress had told me but writing a note to DH to spare his embarrassment made me want to throttle her.

She obviously thought I wasn't safe to be out.

It would depend where I was. If I was in the street or a supermarket I probably would not, but if I was at a function I would probably mention it very quietly.

I doubt if I would notice. I'm not very interested in what other people wear.

My boss once pointed out that I had gone to work in odd shoes (the same style but one black, one navy).
Perhaps he had a shoe fetish, or more probably he was just very observant.

I accidentally get one particular cardigan inside out so often that I am almost afraid to wear it, and even when I wear things the right way out I have a very bed habit of having labels sticking out.

I give one-to-one lessons, and have lost count of the number of times I've only discovered my mistake hours after a lesson.

On one occasion, I discovered that I had been teaching with a clothes peg hanging from my cardigan. On another, I found that I must have given a lesson with blood all over my face, from a nose bleed earlier in the day.
Not one single time has a student (mostly adults) ever said a single word to me!!!

But would I say something to someone else in a similar situation? I honestly don't know. It would depend on the person, I think. When I was younger, I would definitely have kept quiet, but I am becoming far less reserved with age so might speak out!

I once pulled up alongside a girl who had got off a bus and pulled her haversack onto her back and in the process had caught the back of her very short summer dress revealing her bare bot she thanked me and pulled her dress down with a shocked look on her face, she caused chaos with cars all over the road trying to see the view.

Wouldn't worry about an inside out jumper, but I have been to drop the DGC at school then went to Tesco all with my trousers inside out.

Also been to work with one brown and one black shoe, they were the same shoes but different colours.
My DD went to work with different shoes on a few years ago, one flat and the other with a 2 1/2 heel she was non the wiser until I phoned her and asked her to check her footwear
