Oh Granny23 I really feel for you. Goodness knows, you haven't been well yourself, running a home, caring for DH and caring for DGC. Sorry for being blunt, but it's time your DH, for his own good, got a bit more active. Being more active will be good for his circulation and his mind which in turn will aid his healing process. I can't let what's happened to me bring my DH down, it wasn't his fault and that would be so unfair when he has given me the best of care, which I appreciate every minute of. Remember the mantra, the more you do, the more is expected of you. Please look after yourself and I hope you understand my blunt response is meant as a support for you.
Soop I can't wait to see my Bobby's portrait! Having seen your work, I know I,will be delighted to give it a special place in our home.
Hope things run smoothly for you with 'the idiot' Kitty
Dragonfly, hope your DGS bounces back soon and good luck to DD

Soop's welcoming kitchen!
(1001 Posts)Soop's in her kitchen, all's right with the world.
Hello, everyone! Haven't been over for a while, but thought I would sit in a corner and convalesce with you for a while. (Had knee replaced last Wednesday) My goodness, what a lot some of you are having to deal with - I send you all ((hugs)) and admiration.
It is a glorious day here, and should it continue, am being taken down to the Quay for a little walk and a look at the water - have missed it so much.
Oh, it is lovely here.....
Thank you everyone. DGS has been proper poorly and mithered, needing lots of cuddles. DD should be home in the next hour or so - for once I'll be relieved to hand him back. GS1, on the other hand, has been his usual delightful, thoughtful self since I fetched him from school.
Hi Ariadne, nice to see you here. I hope you got to the quay and enjoyed it.
I have lovely red toenails! My feet are nothing to write home about but the nails are fab! I'll just sit here with my feet up while the polish dries and you will be able to admire them!
Bellasnana I will be thinking of youat 7pm this evening.
Granny23 if you did not live so far away your DH would be receiving some home truths from me in person! He is not giving much thought to you!
Ariadne you sound as though you are 100%. 1 week post op and I was in a lot of pain and still in hospital. You have done very well.
I hope that everybody else is recovering and soop you are doing too much, you must recover first.
How`s the knee Ariadne? You sound to be doing great, I came home after one week, but it took me a while to get going, still not 100%.
How does one "bump pls?"
You just did it Nonu
Hello, hello, hello to you lovely lot...
Ariadne Well done. It's good to have you back with us. Keep improving and you'll be skipping around the quay before too long. Big hug x
Bellasnana I was thinking of you and your dear husband as 7o'clock chimed. I'm still thinking of you.
kittylester Wow! Pretty red toenails...how very sophisticated. I can sense your satisfaction. Well deserved, may I add.
Granny23 I echo Agus's message...you need to take much better care of yourself...we are all rooting for you. Delegate! Don't allow yourself to be put upon. Has the message come over loud and clear? Good!
Agus I'm certain that you are being lovingly cared for. I cannot believe that the builder could be so irresponsible. Bobby has been sketched. Now for the challenging fun bit...as usual, I'm both excited and nervous in equal measure. My arty farty hat is ready and waiting.
Dragonfly Grannies are made for cuddles and snuggles. You are doing a first class job. Hope that poorly grandson begins to improve soon.
dustyangel remain strong. This is a very trying time for all the family. My best wishes winging their way to you.
Nonu As my pal didn't have the usual enormous mountain of ironing waiting for me, I spent some time cleaning her brass collection. Now, that's a job I loathe.
It's time for a wee confession.
I started to "tiddle" with the portrait of one of the cats. Tiddling is a big mistake...the watercolours bled and gradually lost their freshness. Sooooooooooooooo...I have to repaint that particular cat.

Lona and number lots of love.

I've come for a little sit down and a

I thought gardening was supposed to be restful but with a 2 year old 'helping' it is a very stressful occupation. What with trampling on new shoots, stamping on the new stuff rather than round it etc, etc! I'm stressed out!!
Was hoping there would be news of Bella's Dh and the other people suffering at the moment.
I wish I had your talent soop.
Once you have that arty fatty hat on Soop please refrain from twiddling with my boy
Kitty youngest GD (4) now realises that although Granny loves receiving a bunch of flowers, she would rather you didn't pick the ones she is growing in the garden
. I eventually told her buttercups and daisies were my favourite and she could pick as many of those any time.
Hope you are both OK Bella and Dustyangel
What lovely kind souls you are. I am writing this through my tears. The consultant last night was very nice but he pulled no punches. It isn't good news. It appears the tumour is in DH's oesophagus. He must first undergo a laparoscopy and a PET scan, then he will have chemo followed by major surgery in about four months time.
To say we are beyond devastated would be an understatement but we have no choice but to face up to reality and get on with it. The hardest part is the reaction of other people when they hear the news, especially our children. They are all grown up and will have to deal with it, but my heart aches for them.
I don't want to keep whingeing and moaning and I know there are many of you who have faced up to far worse, so I won't be 'wearing out my welcome' in soop's cosy kitchen. I am grateful to all of you who have been so kind. It has been like going to therapy as it is somehow easier to talk to people who are detached from the situation. Anyway, I will pop in to keep up with you all, and I send all my good wishes to everyone, especially those with family worries and problems.
Words aren't enough Bellasnana we can only send you our very kindest thoughts.
Oh Bella I'm so so sorry to hear that news. Of course you're all devastated, you have so much to bear.
I too send my best wishes and kind thoughts. Please come in here and unburden yourself whenever you need to. You are among friends.
On a happier note, my friend has been given the all clear. She needs no further treatment, all the cancer has gone. Her wounds are healing and the drains are out. I'm going to see her tomorrow and give her a huge (but gentle) hug. I am so very relieved for her.
Thank you all for your good wishes, she believes that they all helped her to recover.
Hello everyone - it's me, incognito. I've metamorphosed into a love me or hate me brown bottle of goo! New month, almost, new name, new beginnings - I hope. I am in Provence staying with some old friends and really relaxing before joining DD3 and family in Spain for a week.
Sorry to read all the sad posts. I just hope everyone keeps strong and positive to get through the coming months, particularly Bella.
for you all.

What a lovely positive post to see Lona, I am so pleased for your friend.(and you, of course.)
Bellasnana you're not moaning or whingeing at all. This is a safe place to let off steam. You are among friends and I hope it makes it easier to stay positive at home.
You must be feeling devastated and shocked, my heart goes out to you and I hope that Lona's post will help and give you hope.
Bellasnan (((hugs))) Do not feel guilty about whingeing and moaning on here when you are going through such a really difficult time. Virtual support is very helpful.
Hello Soop Agus G23 Bellasnana and all of you who have had troubles. Wishing for brighter days for you all
.
Hello Marmight/Gally I am glad you have told us who you were. Why the change of identity? (Don't answer that if you don't want to!)
Marmight is this to do with your state of indecision?
All my thoughts and best wishes go to you and your husband Bellasnana.
To you all in the kitchen experiencing sadness or joy ~
and wishing you every drop of sunshine coming your way
Bella how awful for you and Mr Bella. You know our thoughts are with you and you must come back and unburden yourself when ever it will help. Be kind to yourselves and all your family. (((hugs)))
Marmight, I echo Nellie's post
Lona - welcome and cheering news
