Two cups half drunk coffee, plate with toast crumbs
Buscopan, Co -drydamol Tramadol ( no I am not mixing them and od ing)
Reading glasses
Stranger from the Sea Paperback
Readers digest atlas ( trying to improve my appalling geography - until today I thought Austria and Switzerland were at the top of Germany blush )
Crumpled tissue
Sad looking staffie, as GSD gone for a walk with DH in the field, and she cant go as she gets grass seeds in her ears

I lie on my lovely green velvet chaise long (which was reupholstered for my 40th birthday !!!) with the end bit down.

Masses of crumbs which have accumulated from my daily lunch of Ryvita.

I have a purple velvet throw which my older GS and I like to snuggle round us and stroke. hmm

Hidden hankies and lip salve behind the cushion. Vick thing you stick up your nose - I'm addicted to menthol !

A small Perspex table with 2 remotes, one Ipad, one Iphone and a pencil for my Sudoku and Crossword.

My fab book 'The Darkest Hour' by Barbara Erskine propped up at the side of the sofa. I am trying to ration the book as it is so good and I don't want to finish it.

Shortly I might find the space for a nice dry sherry with ice and ONE cheese straw.

That's me done.

Half a glass of red wine and some eye drops

hildajenniJ Mon 11-Aug-14 17:01:36

Beside me is a table with tv and sky remote controls, coaster, presentvfr DGD to give her mum m & s receipt, waitrose weekend paper. Next to me on the sofa is the Wiser dog, patiently waiting to be taken for a walk, and DH trying to hurry me up. I'm off to get my shoes then grin

On the table next to the sofa where I'm sitting is
an empty mug
half pkt biscuits shock
The cordless home phone
A pen
Todays post
A free sachet of anti aging cream (from magazine)

On the back of the sofa next to me is a snoring, yes seriously! cat

FlicketyB Mon 11-Aug-14 15:30:56

Well, there is the chair next to my work table where I keep tapestry wool for when I am doing that. Then there are the two corners of the sofa, one with the remote control, the other with nothing, where I usually sit when I am chatting to someone and there is the chair where I sit and read and there is nothing there, not even my reading, that is on the coffee table. Oh, and the one I tend to sit on when on the phone.

Small table to the left of the sofa I'm sat upon, half a cup of tea (still drinking it), blood pressure tablets to take with the tea, my glasses, (don't need them for typing) 3 ball point pens, one pencil, nail clippers, red nail varnish as I varnished my toe nails last night. And a packet of mints.
Untidy, aren't I ...

rubylady Mon 11-Aug-14 00:04:16

flowersofthewest Darth Vaders gun? Ok.

Galen loving the vodka. grin

Small table to left: Cup of warmish tea, wipes, candle, scissors to cut dog, oil of olay cream, gorgeous lamp and banking envelope.

To the right on settee: dog bed on seat next to me, seat next to that, fluffly throw for dog to sleep on. (She is a yorkie size and obviously needs two seats). Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe, my reading material for in 4 months.

Table in front of me: A small priceless fan, writing pads for various events, tobacco, Broadchurch dvd, spray bottle for budgies, colour charts for new home (hopefully), tablets and bottle of Heinz tomato sauce. Oh, and Freddie Mercury and David Bowie are nestled on the table too. confused

I will tidy up tomorrow, well, later today now, as my dad is coming on Tuesday to visit for first time in many years. Yippee!!! grin

Just about every toy in the house is by every chair. DS and two GC arrived at lunchtime and spread themselves liberally around the house. Their power was off and they couldn't play on the Wii shock one GC went home but the other is staying overnight. I really can not be a***d to crawl around tidying up so it will stay until tomorrow.

Slinky- our DD2's very old dachsund we've adopted as her new life did allow enough time to car for him. Loves his 'granny' he does.

shushab Sun 10-Aug-14 10:05:30

By my chair I have: one coffee table - for everything else I need I get up for it as being active stops me seizing up.

Stansgran Sun 02-Feb-14 12:30:36

Granny activist I too fight the slob gene. I know exactly what you are fighting. My childhood home was a tip and although a lot of stuff is in drawers and behind doors I look tidy. My DH complains endlessly about my sewing room but if he had a -hobby- obsession he would be just as messy.

NannaAnna Sun 02-Feb-14 00:27:25

Glass of wine and bottle of water. Lottery ticket.

Same as yesterday, but substitute the part chocolate orange for part of a bag of nuts and raisins. Oh, sorry, there`s a newspaper there as well.

whenim64 Sat 01-Feb-14 09:28:53

Ariadne you are an inspiration. I've got an old gate leg table by my front door and don't want to part with it, but it's in the way. It would make a great coffee table. I'll find out who can do it for me this week. smile

Iam64 Sat 01-Feb-14 08:52:57

2 dogs, both snoring happily. Seven books, I'm reading the one on the top of the pile. empty plat that did have toast on, empty coffee cup, hand cream, wheatgerm filled microwavable warming thing for my stiff neck, reading specs, spare reading specs, fresh cup of tea. tough life isn't it!

Ariadne Sat 01-Feb-14 06:33:11

It's a sofa, so to my left, IPad, ( OK, I am using it right now, and am in bed!) Kindle, IPhone. Lots of cushions, and a footstool to hand. Reading light poised at exactly the right angle.

Behind me, bookshelves built into a big alcove.

In front of me the coffee table, which is a lovely old oak gate leg table resized. On it, a big wooden bowl and two or three wooden things. Black slate coasters. I am a tidy person, but I have ways:

At my feet, a sort of magazine box - rigid leather with handles - which contains all the detritus: manicure stuff, diary, pens and pencils, notebook etc. etc. oh, and my old IPod which I use as my dictionary / thesaurus bookshelf. Leather folder for the daily paper crosswords (rest done online)

(Theseus has an old wooden deed box in which he keeps his rubbish odds and ends.)

So yes, it is tidy, but only because you can't see the stuff!

Galen Sat 01-Feb-14 00:57:06

GA have you seen the photos of my lounge I posted some time ago on the picture thread?

grannyactivist Sat 01-Feb-14 00:49:29

Okay, I am seriously out of step - AGAIN - and it's not fair! [stamps foot emoticon]
As a child there was a time when our house was extremely disgusterous and everyone else's (it seemed to me at the time) was a model of pristine cleanliness. So I worked jolly hard at dominating and subduing my slovenly gene only to find that in my twilight years [sob] [sob] I am living in a * beautiful, tidy, clean, uncluttered environment and everyone else is living like a slob. What is wrong with you all??
[Goes off to cry in her laundered white handkerchief.]

We are an untidy lot, maybe that's why we all get along so well grin

I forgot to mention - on the table to my left, TV controllers x 2, Small touch lamp given to me by my dear friend Anna, two more books, a magazine, a pack of new socks for myself with little birds on. A handwarmer still in it's packet. To my right on a chest of small drawers, A double 'tulip' lamp with one bulb 'gone' and a bird (give to my DH by daughter a few Christmas's ago) dangling precariously from it's stem. A red candle (still there from Christmas) Two empty glasses and a pink paring knife plus apple core.

May go to bed now before I start clearing up. blush

dustyangel Fri 31-Jan-14 22:12:41
