Hi everyone who is posting on this thread about not being able to sleep.
Soutra - Sleepio.com is not any kind of tablet, it is an online programme to change your sleep habits, and I can vouch for the fact that it works! I was sleeping 2-3 hours a night, quite often not at all, and I saw Sleepio.com advertised in Waitrose magazine. I was very sceptical, because I had tried sooooo many other treatments that had maybe worked for a very short while, but cost me a lot of money. I looked at sleepio.com with my husband because he doesn't really trust many things you can do online, but it seemed like it was really worth trying. It's not a quick fix, but slowly, surely I have improved my sleep to nearly 5 hours now. I am really happy and feel loads better. I promise I don't work for sleepio and am not advertising for them. I'd just like to help others who are struggling like I was for about 30 years.

Good morninghmm. Looks like last night was a very unrestive night for a lot of us - is it because it was a Saturday? (just speculation). Hi Gridos. I'd not heard of Sleepio before. At the moment I'm finding Valerian tablets are helping me drift off, but from past experience I find that things will work for a short time, then the effect wears off. How long did it take before the Sleepio plan kicked in for you?

Grindos Sun 02-Mar-14 18:26:59

Hi bohemian, thanks for replying. It's not so much a matter of sleepio kicking in, it's more of a slow and steady improvement, although there are ups and downs on the way. The first 2 weeks of the 6 week programme, you just fill in a sleep diary, then based on the times you are sleeping, they work out your sleep schedule. For instance, I was sleeping about 3 hours, so I was given a 'sleep window' of 1am to 6am. I was used to being in bed 8-10 hours, lying there awake, so it was a big change having to get up after 5 hours. I started to sleep more, up to 4 hours, after about 10 nights I think. Then it was a bit more each night, and generally feeling better during the day. I also noticed my general anxiety diminishing, which is wonderful. It's really worth going into the sleepio.com site and having a look.

Yohoooo! anyone there?

Culag Tue 04-Mar-14 01:14:51

Yes, I am. I have a cold and sore throat and haven't slept well for a few days. Seems like each time I swallow I take in air as well and it keeps coming back confused

Culag Tue 04-Mar-14 02:17:14

Grrrrrrr, still awake.

I hope they never axe the World Service.

Good thing there's nothing in my diary for today.

Not much activity on this thread lately.
I have a busy day looming up and true to form I have woken up at 2am unable to get back to sleep again. Made myself a cup of sleepy tea hoping that will do the trick.
Everyone else in the household sleeping peacefully. envy

boheminan Sat 08-Mar-14 03:44:10

I got up at 3-15am, so just missed you Greenfinch. The valerian have stopped working for me. This is a sporadic thread - it's pot luck who'll be around - though I guess if I'm on my own it may mean others are tucked up in bed and sleeping (bliss) envymoon

Granny23 Sat 08-Mar-14 04:00:04

No, I'm still wide awake. Accidently fell asleep after Tea and woke at 22.30! I've not really got into a routine now that I can sleep during the night. Beginning to feel sleepy now after reading tomorrow's papers on line. Same old, same old - enough to send anyone to sleep...zzz

boheminan Sat 08-Mar-14 04:02:53

good morning Granny23. (whoops, sorry I'd better leave you to sleep) good night Granny23 grin

newist Sat 08-Mar-14 04:24:01

Hello out there smile

Greenfinch Sat 08-Mar-14 06:02:19

Went back to sleep briefly but awake again at 5.30.
Bought some over-the-counter sleeping pills but haven't taken them because it says discuss with your doctor if you are on beta-blockers which I am.

boheminan Sat 08-Mar-14 09:59:05

Blah! what a night…I'm sure there's 24hrs in a night rather than a day!
Went back to bed at 4.30am, nodded off, woke at 8.30 for a wee, went back and slept again til 9-30am, so 5hrs altogether, I feel much better after 7hrs, which is what the Valerian tabs were originally helping me to get.

alchemillamollis Sat 08-Mar-14 14:08:36

Oh, hello, lovely people. Didn't know you were here...

I'm about to go back to bed after the night from hell last night. Am a chronic insomniac. angry sad

Versavisa Sun 09-Mar-14 02:12:40

Is there a prize for being first here?

Can't sleep because of a new cough. Not sure where that came from but I've given up the idea of getting back to sleep. I had so much planned for tomorrow and I now know I shall be too tired. It is so disheartening to see my plans scuppered before day break!

Culag Sun 09-Mar-14 02:29:24

I too can't sleep for coughing.

Has anyone got any tips for sleeping upright? I've got lots of pillows and the coughing stops, but it's hard on the butt and I can't fall asleep.

Versavisa Sun 09-Mar-14 02:43:07

Sorry you've got the same as me culag. Hadn't thought of sleeping upright. I'm at the stage when I just wish for total exhaustion to kick in.

Culag Sun 09-Mar-14 02:52:50

I haven't had a good night's sleep for at least a week. I caught this delightful virus from looking after my 10 month old granddaughter hmm

I hope I'll be able to function tomorrow, was hoping to do some gardening, it's going to be a lovely day.

Versavisa Sun 09-Mar-14 03:50:51

Think I caught it from my granddaughters too and gardening was in my plans for the day.. I shall think of you. Get better soon - both of us.

Greenfinch Sun 09-Mar-14 06:01:30

Awake at 4am and am just about to try again at 6.Been back once but couldn't settle because of muscle pain in my legs. Condolences to those who have coughs. Most annoying.

Rosiebee Sun 09-Mar-14 06:49:02

Following flight from Hong Kong, landed at Heathrow about 4am, I think I've been awake all night. Waiting for 9am flight to Manchester. Can't think straight, having been confused by a rather disgusting apology for a breakfast at about 2am also screaming toddler two rows in front.Had a fabulous holiday but now can't wait for my own bed. Will probably not be able to get to sleep. Sorry, just feeling a bit of a grumpy granny at moment. confused

DebnCreme Sun 09-Mar-14 07:25:31

Welcome home Rosie and glad you had a good time. No wonder you feel a bit grumpy with all that going on. You will feel better when you are able to catch up on some sleep flowers
