Can't sleep - won't sleep - anyone else awake?

Marelli Wed 06-Apr-16 07:12:47

It catches up, Liz46. I didn't even try to sleep last night, once the snoring started. I came through to my cosy bed here in the spare room and have slept like a log!

boheminan Wed 06-Apr-16 08:24:11

I'm feeling guilty for getting a good nights sleephmmgrin.

I've been taking an antihistimine last thing at night and it sends me off. I take them for hay fever anyway, but started taking them at night instead of morning.

I'm not convinced this truly wonderful spate of sleeping through the night will lastsad but am making the most of a 11.00pm-8.00am with only 1 Wee Break in between - I'm on auto-piolot with that, and sometimes worry that in my dozy dream state, I might not have made it to the loo - hence purchasing a lov-erly guzzunder at the local charity shop yesterday!

Nana3 Wed 06-Apr-16 08:31:19

Good luck with that boheminan.
I had a better night too, I left the iPad downstairs I read the local paper and did the crossword instead. smile

boheminan Wed 06-Apr-16 21:57:57

It isn't looking too good for a sleep filled night. 10.00pm and I'm wide awake.

Anyway, just in case, the guzzunder is on standby and the antihistimine is waiting by the drinking chocolate. Good luck to all your Insomnies tonight moon Here's to a good nights sleep...

Thanks-you too!
I said goodnight about an hour ago but here I am, still "messing about" online. Haven't popped my pills yet. Am SO tired after a busy day but just can't bear the thought of going to bed yet to toss and turn even though room is dark, cool, bed the comfiest in the world. . . .
Busy day tomorrow, would like to be fresh but it's not going to happen. . . .
Night night, don't let the bed bugs bite!

boheminan Wed 06-Apr-16 23:02:58

`'Night night"? You're joking! The night is still young - well, it will be for the next hour. I'm still wide awake and thinking I'm not going to be sleeping for a whilemoon.

harrigran Wed 06-Apr-16 23:09:57

I am still up and about. Leg pain reduced but burning soles of feet are uncomfortable. Think I will do a jigsaw online.

Bellanonna Wed 06-Apr-16 23:15:13

Benylin does it for me. I'm trying to help a persistent cough to go away, and the great thing with this is I'm asleep in no time. I have such a lot of rattling going on but don't hear it initially, then I wake and that's it. Reach for the xword, book, or whatever. I'm listening to it now, like a happy cat purring. Its horrible !! Hope you eventually nod off. When I'm well I do have sleep problems but often warm milk will help.

boheminan Wed 06-Apr-16 23:17:43

Blimey harrigran, I didn't know there were jigsaw puzzles online! I play Scrabble on Facebook throughout the night, or sometimes Patience (which I think is now called Solitaire).

What causes the burning soles of your feet?

boheminan Thu 07-Apr-16 03:20:32

Bah! Humbug!!! 3.20am - Can't sleep, won't sleep, and it looks like 'everyone else out there' is soundly tucked away in the Land of Nod, so I'm off to see if anyone in America's playing Scrabble! Good night moon - talking of which, it's a beautiful starry, starry night out there...

Envious Thu 07-Apr-16 03:46:57

I'm here where do you play scrabble online?

pensionpat Thu 07-Apr-16 04:27:47

I don't normally have sleep problems. An hour ago my mobile phone rang. It was my younger sons number and it stopped ringing as soon as I tried to answer. I rang back immediately but it went straight to answerphone. So I text him asking what's up. Well of course my mind has gone into overdrive (he has been having marital problems). The logical part of me knows the most likely explanation is that it was unintentional and they are sound asleep. Like my husband. So I am trying to distract myself.

Envious. To play Scrabble online just go into the App Store and search for scrabble. There are several. You will recognise the logo. I have the iPad one. I have played for years. Mainly with people I know, but you can play with strangers. You don't have to be "friends". I have played 20 games at a time. Not in the same sense as with a board with your opponent playing at the same time. You take your turn and then wait. Your opponent could be anywhere in the world. They could be asleep (lucky things) They don't take their turn until it suits them. That is why you play more than one game. It is totally addictive. I've had a technical problem so am playing Words With Friends which is identical to Scrabble. People seem to take their turn more quickly on this because they use their phones to play.

Try it. Might see you online even if I don't recognise you.

I was asleep. Won't get back off now after a 'wee' . Been tossing and turning for half an hour. Thinking of making a cup of tea which will be admitting defeat sad.

annsixty Thu 07-Apr-16 05:01:15

I have been awake now for as hour or so.
Keep trying to doze off but know I won't now. Seeing GP in the morning for my leg pain and it is lashing down outside as it seems to have done all night.

Liz46 Thu 07-Apr-16 05:13:11

I have been awake since 2.30 and am now downstairs with a cup of tea. I was exhausted last night so hoped I would sleep better than this.

Nana3 Thu 07-Apr-16 05:15:54

Hope you get somewhere with that leg pain ann it's been going on too long.
I have tea and biscuits now brew

annsixty Thu 07-Apr-16 05:17:26

?thanks.

Marelli Thu 07-Apr-16 06:52:55

Slept like a log last night, as I came through to spare room as soon as OH's snoring started, instead of trying to ignore it. Even got straight off again after loo visit at 4. Perhaps the time has come for a permanent move....hmm
Hope your GP appointment goes well, annsixty, and that you get your leg sorted.

harrigran Thu 07-Apr-16 11:09:31

I went to bed at 1am and I did sleep, up twice to the loo and to get a drink of water. boheminan the burning feet is a side effect of chemo, likewise the terribly dry mouth.
The jigsaws are to be found on jigidi.com, I find they have a lot of pretty scenery ones.

boheminan Thu 07-Apr-16 11:44:09

moon Thanks for jigsaw info harrigran. I'm sorry, I didn't realise you've had chemoflowers. I'm pleased you managed to get 40 winks throughout the night.

I woke at 10.00am after finally going to bed c5.00am (playing Scrabble). I will probably have a nap this afternoon. There's no such thing as a sleeping pattern anymore.

I do hope this thread continues, as I personally find it comforting to there are others 'out there' who are awake and having cups of tea, pees, drinks of water, or all three - or just lying awake worrying (like me). The world doesn't seem such an empty big space when there's others awake in itsmile Scrabble I play via Facebook. I also play random players pensionpat - if you use F/B version, perhaps we could be very daring and play each other? If it's okay with you, shall I PM you and let you know my player name? If anyone else fancies a game in the 'wee (literally) small hours', then let me know and perhaps we can arrange a friendly match

pensionpat Thu 07-Apr-16 12:38:30

Bohemian that sounds great. Let's do it! And anyone else who is interested.

boheminan Thu 07-Apr-16 13:35:19

pensionpat, I think I'd need to befriend you on F/B(?) then we can play Scrabble as 'friends'? I'll PM you my 'real' identity, so we can become friends to play. If anyone else wants to join in a game, I believe that's the only way of meeting friends on Scrabble, F/B? I realise some GN'rs may not want to disclose their identity, but I think there's a way round hiding personal info on there???

annsixty Thu 07-Apr-16 16:05:11

I have an appt for an x-ray tomorrow morning and a joint injection in 2 weeks when the GP has seen those. I feel at least things are moving along now.

Anya Thu 07-Apr-16 16:42:30

That's good to hear Ann

jogginggirl Thu 07-Apr-16 22:26:23

I might be with you tonight - not expecting much sleep as we have a non-sleeping DGD overnight wink
