I am watching election results.
Very interesting.
Can't say I get to grips with it all.
God I can't stand Labours Emily Thornberry.
Embarrassing problem following surgery

Can't sleep - won't sleep - anyone else awake?

Granny
Why are you on antibiotics, sorry you are feeling poorly.
How nice to be at your sons, comforting to know our children love us.
granny how I feel for you but the pleasure of being with your dearly beloved son makes it worthwhile. Oh how we adore them. I also hope your illness won't spoil your time with him. Though reading through the lines I doubt it. Me on the other hand feel awful this morning from lack of sleep. I now know why they use 'white noise' as torture. The noise has driven me MAD. My husband who slept through it is now awake and can hear it and he's deaf and is yet to put his hearing aids in. Just wait till I get on trip advisor.
pogs I can't say I know who Emily Thornberry is. I have googled her and she looks o.k. What is it about her you don't like? I hope you don't feel as bad as me this morning after being awake at such an ungodly hour. My sympathies
hope I feel better as the day passes. I'v got a busy weekend planned.
Anyone awake??
Hello Bohe Just off to bed, but probably won't sleep as I've just watched 'Happy Valley' - not a wise move!!
I've been sat playing Scrabble for so long I've now got 'second wind' and have woken up
Oh well, l'll go to bed, and if I lay there long enough I might get some sleep - problem is, as soon as I close my eyes I see a Scrabble board with impossible words on! g'night…..
Ha Ha, I keep doing that with Solitaire. Every night I tell myself not to do it, but the sensible side of my brain doesn't listen
It's fatal, isn't it?! I'm really going now, hope you sleep all right!
Hi yes I am awake but mainly because I have toothache ! Will log off soon and try to sleep but wide awake at the moment. Good night x
Sorry, just missed you seasider, hope you managed to get some shuteye. I finally went to bed at 1.45am, slept until around 5.00am, and have been awake since. I don't fancy playing Scrabble, think I'm getting allergic/addictive to it
It's a couple of minutes after the 'witching hour' and I've just woken up…hello? anyone else out there?
Its 3.15am and I'm on the prowl !! Darn restless legs, the butt of every comedian, nothing funny about it. Feels like electricity running just under the skin and just have to get up and walk about until the extra medications kick in.
Morning, I've been awake since 6.30. My sympathies to those who had a bad night.
An early 'Good Morning'. Anyone else not able to sleep in this heat???
Good morning bohemian, I'm off to collect my grandson tomorrow morning - it's been six weeks since I last saw him (the longest we've been apart since he was born) and I'm surprised at how excited I am. Can't sleep, so just caught up on GN, but the light's going out now. I have to be ready to leave at 7am. [gulp]
hope you both have a great day tomorrow (today?) g'night
Can't sleep. Thunderstorm. I just dashed out to get washing in.
Did you dash out into the garden at 02.54 petallus? Your brave I'd have just left it there at that time of the morning. In the dark my imagination runs wild. Bats, rats, scary. I don't want to'show off' but over the last few weeks i'v slept like a log. From 11+ through till 6or 7 waking just once for a visit to the toilet. This is FABULOUS. It makes me realise how important sleep is and how the lack of it affects my emotional health. But why is my sleep pattern so changeable. I know that being upset, worried, excited can disturb it but there are times when there seems to be no reason at all. Anyway I'll shut up now I don't want to tempt fate.
Morning, been tossing and turning all night. I'm usually quite a good sleeper. Hopefully after a little play with the Kindle I can nod off for an hour or two.
Loud men still socialising outside at 12.30. There is a yacht race starting here this morning... Woke at 4.something. But another lovely morning here so up, done my exercises and up now. Good job I feel asleep fairly early.
Oh no after a prolonged period of reasonable sleep here I am wide awake. I'v got work tommorow
I think I'm anxious about getting anxious ( hope that makes sense to someone) I'm obviously in a state about my most wonderful uncles funeral. I'm worrying about my aunt (we are more like sisters really) who was married to said uncle for 54 years. We have all been taking it in turns stopping over. I will stay for a week following the funeral. But when should we start leaving her alone. She was on her own for just a few hours during the day a few days ago and my sister found her in a terrible state. I know we are cosseting her and want to protect her as much as possible. But the idea of her being alone and desolate during the night is upsetting.
Kiora Hi, I'm up still too, although not unusual for me. But worry does play it's part too.
I think your aunt will feel better, if you know what I mean, when the funeral is over. I think it's the time between someone dying and the funeral, that sort of limbo status that can be the worst time. It's probably going to have to be a wait and see how things go time. Although if you have to get back for work etc. then you will be concerned about leaving her, it's just natural. Can she not come and stay with you for a bit after your week with her? Or can anyone else take over or at least go round to hers to see how she is and report back to you? She is going to have to come to terms with your dear uncle's passing at some stage, although how when they were together for such a long time, I have no idea. Does she do other things outside the house? Is she part of any groups or church?
Don't feel guilty in cosseting her just now, it's what she needs. And it is upsetting for you to think that she could be sat up and upset without you being there. When is the funeral? Can she join on here and then you could at least private message her and she would feel better for hearing from you if she is up in the night? Or by e mail?
I'm not going to bed just yet so you can reply if you want. X
Thanks for your reply rubylady I played candy crush to bore me to sleep. She does swim and has got friends. The problem is that for the last year of his life he needed 24 round the clock care. So she hardly left his side during this year. I think we can rota someone in over the next month or so. I would be more than happy for her to spend as long as she likes with me. She may do that, she comfortable here with me and we enjoy her company. But at home winter and dark nights are coming and her friends are the same age as her 70+ so although still active they will be reluctant to venture out after dark. I did try to encourage her and my uncle to get an iPad especially during that last year so although housebound they could have face timed us and their grand & great grandchildren but they were convinced that they wouldn't manage the technology. I will try to convince her when I stay after the funeral. I know she does need to come to terms with things but I just hate the thought of her distress.
I did stay up for a while in case you wanted to chat but I'm glad you found some peace playing candy crush and it relaxed you a bit. Because she has given up her hobbies due to you uncle's care, it may need a slowly slowly approach to get her back into the swing of things. I do think it would be a good idea for her to come to yours for a while if she doesn't seem to be getting better when you are ready to leave after your week there. Then you can slowly introduce her to an iPad, teach her how to use it and have her get confident with it and like I said, put little nuggets back into her mind about going back swimming and seeing her friends. It must have been a huge shock for her, regardless of the fact her husband was ill for some time, that she is now alone. But that does not have to mean lonely.
The funeral and after will give you an idea how she will cope in the future. In the meantime just keep in touch and do all you can to reassure her, which I am sure you are doing anyway. Your dear uncle is still with you all, in your hearts. Take care, look after yourself.
