As many of us will relate to the fact that we are the ones who are always on the go and doing the caring, it's pretty difficult to get out of that mode but I will be heeding advice this time and taking it easy for a few days. Bellasnana your visit to the old rice plantation in Charleston sounds "other worldly". I can well imagine the profusion of exotic flowers. As for alligators... It's that cold and distant look in the eye, that I find mesmerising and disconcerting.

It really is a lovely day. We've had a stroll through the village and spent ages blethering. Glassortwo is in Argyll. Should she be in this neck of the woods, she may well call in. Hope so.

MacSporran and Rory are considering doing some jobs in the garden. Friends will be calling on us later to share their plans for a wee orchard cottage. We considered building on the plot and then decided to stay put. The cottage will be part and parcel of their guest house. Self catering for walkers of the Kintyre Way.

Congratulations Soutra. Such an exciting time for everyone - I just lurve babies! DD1 was on holiday with us in France, much against my wishes, and produced her 2nd baby 5 days after returning home - hardly a relaxing time (especially for me!).

I'm feeling a bit wiped out too, as it happens but not because of anything scary like that, just a busy (and interesting) weekend requiring more than my usual amount of driving and a lot of archery concentration. Just had a nap. Not sure I'll wake up properly at all today.

Would love a , but too risky as my mouth is still 'frozen' on both sides after having two chipped teeth filled. I would most likely slobber the lot over my favourite sweater.

Agus that was a horrid fright for you. It was fortunate that DH was around to call for an ambulance and get things in motion. The NHS is at its best in emergencies- they are not so good if one has to stay in for any length of time. Obviously not every hospital is like that but certainly in some places.

Enjoying visions of a lovely orchard cottage soop and then I'm off to catch up with Gally along that beautiful coastal path. I have brought a couple of high horses for a good gallop to the nearest energy store, quick wave to when, leave a sack at Soutra's then back up to drop off much needed supply for bags and I.

Anno If in need of a brew...drink it through a straw. Good to get such matters out of the way. It the drill that sends chills down my spine.

Charleygirl Rory has had at least half a dozen outings today. MacSporran is constantly "checking that he's okay"...he really is uneasy about him being alone in the garden. He imagines that, for some daft reason or other, Rory might take a fancy to crossing the road. I can understand his concern. Although we mustn't lose sight of the fact that Rory lived a wayward life before adopting us. He was often seen wandering along the verge of the road that leads to Clachan [3 miles away]. We were returning home one dark night, when the lights of the car picked out a pair of real cat's eyes heading in our direction. At that time, he wasn't one of the family.

soop do you not think that Rory has settled down and enjoys his home comforts too much to be wandering out onto a busy road? Saying that, Tara does like to sunbathe in the middle of ours but at least it is a mews and not a main road. The majority of houseowners (18 including myself) know her well and hopefully look out for her.

anno I can think of little worse than visiting a dentist. I do hope that the numbness has settled but pain has not overtaken. Enjoy your cups of tea or better still, why not something stronger? It is for medicinal purposes after all!

Possibly the worst part of the weekend drama was when a nurse who I am sure was only 12 was taking a note of my details asked if I could dress myself at home without needing help????? Once I got over the shock and we laughed at some of the questions, I assured her I could not only dress myself when well but, the rest of the ward too if necessary . Did get me thinking though, is this the category I am now pigeonholed into?

Oh Agus what a scare for yoou and yours!! It must be about a year since DH had his TIA's and in my ignorance I feared he was getting dementia as he couldn't get his words right. I remember posting my worries and Galen said "Get to the GP NOW" so I let him go to bed with a milky drink [oops] emoticon. It was a major fright but there have been no problems since.
I am glad however that your DH was a bit more sensible. Viruses are weird things are they not?
I hope you are totally on the mend now and how nice to hear a good report of the NHS amidst all the bad publicity.
Now - hoping that assembled company are keeping you company and taking it easy!

Agus, I hope you are feeling better this morning and getting over the shock of you nasty 'turn'.

I have been rooting around in the under-sink cupboard. I succeeded in finding - and using - the window cleaning stuff - I'm having vertical blinds fitted this afternoon - but what on earth am I doing with about five different kinds of multi-purpose cleaner? I think there might be some in my little glory hole cellar too. I have now got rid of some almost empty bottles and cans and hope to be able to make use of some of the 'treasures' I've unearthed.

I have a theory about "products". Ownership is in inverse proportion to the frequency of usage. So frinstance I have at least 4 window cleaning products and 3 types of furniture polish on the basis that I am reminded of my total slatternliness when I see them in the supermarket. I buy the product full of good intentions and then leave it in the cupboard or under the sink with all the other neglected producta! Ditto floor mops.

Soutra I am little better. I doubt if you could fit another can or bottle on the shelves in the cupboard under the sink. It is full to bursting point with the latest on the market. I am lucky, I have a cleaner who does make her way through some of them. She has never worked in a house with so many cleaning cloths, liquids, gadgets etc.
