This is now open for cakes and coffee and hot buttered toast. I am donating the new batch of marmalade. Enjoy.

Hello! I have dropped in here for some pleasantness.
I sat down with a brew and nodded off a while ago. I am supposed to be going low calorie today but if there are some nice flapjacks I could be persuaded to indulge.
What has redeagle777 been doing, offering more upholstery or trying to set a record for being deleted from every thread?

Gagagran Play whatever you like I might even sing along. That would clear up some space in Soops house.

Soutra Fri 21-Feb-14 18:01:50

Bathing little boys on Wednesday night I initiated them into "Ye cannae shove yer Granny aff a bus" and "My baby has gone down the plughole" (my baby has gone down the drain, my baby has gone down the plughole, I won't see my baby again. Bring back, oh bring back oh bring back my baby to me, to me, Bring back, oh bring back, oh bring back my baby to me") tune: my bonnie lies over the ocean. They loved them! Big bro (3 3/4) liked the bus one and little bro (2 1/4) was shrieking "bring back" as my prompt to sing it again. I love trying to be subversive Granny!!
Oops bit of a clue there. Other DD knows our wee "secret" now but in-laws won't know for another week so my lips are still sealed.

Galen Fri 21-Feb-14 18:18:06

Would anyone like some of my banana cake? It's the only kind of cake I can successfully make. Toddler loves it. Tiddler is too young yet.

Lona Fri 21-Feb-14 18:25:06

I'd love some banana cake please Galen, with a brew of course, which I shall make right now.

Then I must sit in the corner in the dim light until my migraine tablet kicks in :-(

Now I've got "Yer canna shove etc......." going through my brain too!!

grin

annodomini Fri 21-Feb-14 18:29:11

Lovely wee secret, Soutra. wink

Galen Fri 21-Feb-14 18:56:11

Just uploaded a photo of me and tiddler!
You'll have to lie down to view it! Sorry!

LizG Fri 21-Feb-14 19:09:15

Whatever your little secret might be wink congratulations S et al

numberplease Fri 21-Feb-14 21:11:08

And a gorgeous tiddler as well Galen!

Charleygirl Fri 21-Feb-14 21:16:03

I am assuming that is a little boy Galen. He is absolutely gorgeous and you are rightly so proud of him.

Galen Fri 21-Feb-14 21:57:12

No she's a girl. Or so her mother tells me! I haven't seen her without a nappy but I presume mum does know the difference?
I hope she does as she's a science teacher!

Agus Fri 21-Feb-14 22:27:55

Hope you are feeling better Lona. DH suffered with them for years. Hellish things.

Galen your latest grandaughter is a little poppet. I love that stage when they still snuggle into your neck all floppy.

Go on Soutra. You must sing Skinny Malinky. The boys will love it especially the eldest. My GDs know it well now. Another one they like is Three Craws. I thought Grannies were supposed to be subversive grin

Galen Fri 21-Feb-14 22:29:20

It comes with job doesn't it?

Agus Fri 21-Feb-14 22:38:08

Just nipped back to say I had a look at Torben's photograph. What a handsome boy soop Isn't it such a pity they have to grow up. GD2 starts school in August and DH and I don't want to hear anything about it!

Lona Fri 21-Feb-14 22:51:00

Galen Your 'tiddler' is very bonny, just at that cuddly stage smile

Agus Thanks, it's hovering, but I think it will have gone by tomorrow.

Agus Sat 22-Feb-14 10:59:05

Absolutely Galen

Hope your migraine has cleared up now Lona

soop Sat 22-Feb-14 12:38:01

Galen Your tiddler is a poppet. Such a pretty wee girl. I can see the family resemblance. smile May I add that I'm very partial to banana cake.

Soutra You sound like the perfect Granny. Agus I like "Three Craws". The first time I heard it was at a ceilidh in the village hall. Three male friends, who were celebrating their 70th birthdays, performed it for the party goers.

Lona I hope that your migraine is long gone.

Sel wink Tell us soon as possible, us lot are awfully nosey.

I was browsing through a book of Scottish songs and one in particular brought back a distant memory.

An Eriskay Love Lilt...
Vair me o, o rovan o,
Vair me o, o rovan ee,
Vair me o,ru o ho,
Sad am I , without thee.

When I'm lonely, dear white heart,
Black the night or wild the sea;
By love's light my foot finds
The old pathway to thee

Vair me o, etc

Thou'rt the music of my heart,
Harp of joy, o cruit mo chridh;
Moon of guidance by night,
Strength and light thou'rt to me..

Vair me o, etc

When at the convent each class was asked to sing [I think on a Parents evening] I was not one of the choir [tone deaf, apparently.] Instead, I conducted the form choir who sang this song. When I turned to face the audience after the performance, my father pulled a funny/silly face. I remember it well grin. So, it seems that the songs I've loved best were of Scottish origin going way back to Westering Home and Skye Boat Song learned at primary school. And, all these years later, I'm living happily in Scotland.

Galen Sat 22-Feb-14 12:53:30

I used to sing that at school. You're making me come all over nostalgic ah!<sigh>.
Hang on a mo!
I HATED SCHOOL
Stop Soop

Charleygirl Sat 22-Feb-14 12:59:55

Galen your DGD looks so content, she is beautiful. Glad I have got the correct sex this time.

soop Sat 22-Feb-14 13:01:24

Galen Sit yourself down and have a brew and there's a crusty bread roll with smoked salmon if you like. smile

Agus Sat 22-Feb-14 15:38:17

Just googled Eriskay Love Lilt. Hadn't heard it for a long time. The one I have just listened to was by The Glasgow Orpheus Choir. Beautiful video as well as hearing the choir.

It's strange how life turns out soop. It comes across clearly in your posts how settled you are here. Lang may yer lum reek. It took me two goes to write that, my iPad doesn't recognise Scots grin

soop Sat 22-Feb-14 15:42:36

Agus The lum is indeed reekin' I must listen to the GOC...right now.

Charleygirl Sat 22-Feb-14 15:47:40

soop Torben is so much taller- and very handsome. He always seems to have a smile on his face. How old is he now?

soop Sat 22-Feb-14 15:51:48

Thank you, Agus I enjoyed listening to the rendition. Have shared it on my Facebook page.

Charleygirl Torben will grow into a tall man. It's in the genes. He's very agile, strong and wiry. We hope to see him in the spring. sunshine

Lona Sat 22-Feb-14 15:52:10

I loved that song too, and Westering Home. My mum used to belt them out at home smile Happy days.

Head's better now thanks, and I've had a delicious lunch with two friends, so........................ I'll just have a small piece of Galen's Banana cake and a cuppa!

soop and Agus I hope that your reekin lums get better soon! wink

Agus Sat 22-Feb-14 15:56:10
