Today I have been - and should still be - painting all the aluminium garden furniture with a fresh coat of enamel paint. DBH and I manhandled a large sheet of trellis onto a wall and fixed it on to support a huge climbing rose. Back out again in a minute for second coat on the tables and chairs, not my favourite task as I always get a dob of paint on my clothes. I need overalls. But it's a lovely sunny day with a breeze that is drying off the paint nicely.

Having a big paella party with friends and neighbours, celebrating next door's daughter's 20th and lovely DH's 68th- a lovely day- ending on Skype with grand-children.

Cold windy day spent alone - 'Sunday B****y Sunday', so sorted out the drawers of a desk. Big mistake as I found dozens of letters which my parents sent me over the years all of which I read and put in order, lots of photos of the children when they were small which made me cry and all kinds of other 'stuff' which brought back memories. I should really ditch the lot, but no can do . Now waiting for a skype with DD2 which should cheer me up.

Gally I guess a bit of a bad Sunday for you then, hope the week pans out a bit better for you, the weather is lovely so maybe you could enjoy the sunshine, maybe a picnic or a lovely walk in the park

Today is a sorting out day - plants received yesterday, bedding to wash, small filling holes in front porch roof to be (hopefully) painted tomorrow, fix light which has gone off in aquarium now a plant hospital.....etc etc.
And fetch meds from the chemist.

I'm uneasy, as the fence the neighbours dog got through is being fixed - BUT in the process is of course taken down, and I can see right through the hedge that was next to it.....I don't want to go out in my garden.
Am I silly?

Today I have been mainly scratching - painfully and constantly, it's driving me nuts. I developed this rash about ten days ago and it has increased in size and irritation. My GPs say its an allergic rash but what's the cause. I haven't changed anything. Soaps, foods, animals, clothes etc etc. In the first instance I was given antihistamine and 2 large tubes of Eurax cream to slather on. The cream did calm down the soreness, the antihistamine didn't do very much. So me and my rash fetch up the surgery again this morning. He has given me more antihistamine tabs and steroids, six of the latter to be taken a day. Hopefully this will knock it on the head or I'll knock myself on the head. It's beginning to freak me out.

dorset you have my utmost sympathy. I don't think anyone who hasn't endured it can understand the discomfort of painful, persistent itching. I hope you soon find relief.

Doing nothing

Haven't just had a mad spurt of domestic activity,
Cleaned out the coffee maker
Cleaned the crockpot ( why does it always go mouldy inside if you leave it with the lid on, no matter how dry it is?)
Made soup with remains of last nights beef and vegetable stew.
Had breakfast of chopped fig, blood orange and blueberries with homemade yoghurt.
Cleaned out the soup maker.
I'm now sitting down.
This lack of tribunal work is killing meM
I don't do domesticity.
How on earth am I going to cope when I have to retire?
Last week I had to make 2 draught excluders and crochet a pair of rainbow leggings for DGD 1.
I can't cope with this!

HELP!

Having not haven't!

This morning I had my Italian lesson, with the lovely Mr Carbonara, sitting cosily knee to knee in his garden summer house. This afternoon I have been reading the Sunday Times from last Sunday and the Sunday before - obviously getting my money's worth and now I am contemplating a walk to the beach, only I have just this minute noticed that it is raining so back to the Times.....

dorset, you have my sympathy. When I was much younger and organising a house sale and flit with two young children under my feet, and (then) husband commuting weekly to and from new job, I got a wicked rash which nothing seemed to touch. Eventually, when I had an attack of viral meningitis, it miraculously disappeared. However, that would be rather a drastic remedy. It did prove,though, that the rash was caused by stress and alleviated by a couple of weeks in bed! Is anything - apart from the rash itself - stressing you out at the moment?

Pottering about. I collected a prescription from the surgery at 8:30 before the pharmacy was open so I had to go back home. I wrote a note to post some information through a friends door, I should have done that three weeks ago.
I went back with the prescription,there would be a 5mins wait. Wandered into a charity shop as it was pouring with rain and spent £5 on a set of six little bowls, (I have a use in mind for them) and a rather nice Raspberry pink cotton top.

Back into the Pharmacy "Oh sorry Mrs Moser we don't have them in stock." Well that is what happened two years ago when they were prescribed.

I put some tighter elastic into DGS's trousers so they don't fall down that was easier to do than it had first looked.

Dug out some spare material with a view to at last sewing a cover for the posh Balance scales I bought early last year. I now know that will work OK but I need some foam lining and some thread of the right colour before I start.

I tried out my newly serviced sewing machine which now works like a dream. I need something else to sew now. I might just shorten those curtains I have had in the cupboard for years, or I might not.

Choir tonight! Only two more proper rehearsals and two run throughs with the orchestra. Well it will just have to be "all right on the night."

Today I have mainly been reminiscing about the good old days of Nightingale wards and patients referred to by nurses behind the desk or in the clinic room by their names and not bed designations....by three o clock I thought I was going to explode! Looking forward to two days off...

Today I have been wallowing in bed with a nasty dose of the flu. Only alleviated by a short time on GN this evening when the paracetamol worked.

Sitting on trains, reading from my Kindle. I was then frustrated to find that I had the wrong number for my favourite taxi firm on my new phone. However, I found that a local bus was due to pass the station ten minutes later which was a great deal cheaper than the taxi would have been.

Have been frantically cleaning the landing and stairs, there`s a man coming in the morning to check out and service the stair lift, which has been causing me a little bit of concern over the last few days. Hope he can sort it, I have a dread of it stopping and abandoning me halfway up the stairs, which it keeps threatening to do!

Counting frogs:

We have over 30 in our modest pond. Sounds like a mass of motorbikes revving up and looks like a boiling pot.

Also having new carpet fitted only to find that we should have taken to old carpet up before painting the skirting and stairs. Oops

Finalising, with welcome assistance, a table plan for 246 guests for a dinner later this week. Counting frogs sounds more fun.

Table plans just give me flash backs to the worst part of my wedding......so glad won't have those problems again all the problems are sadly no more... if I was ever to do it again, 2 tickets to Gretna for me....

I haven't been doing this all day but I spent a very enjoyable ten minutes rescuing a butterfly. I was in the lower house, which is shut up for the winter, and saw what I thought was an insect on the inside of the door. It was actually a very crumpled looking butterfly with it's wings closed. It had obviously not long hatched out. I carefully edged it on to a piece of tissue and transferred it to some freesias in the shade. It delicately walked along my finger into the sun and took off, for the ground. It shivered in the wind for a bit, spread it's wings and headed for the wide blue yonder.
