I've been cooking and ironing - that's enough domestic godessing for this week - though I did enjoy the pancakes!

Missing my sons today - my foster sons just don't 'get' pancake day. Even when he was at university my eldest son made the journey home for his mother's pancakes, but now he has a wife and I have selflessly given her my recipe so I won't see him today. On the other hand he did send me a lovely text.
I'm also struggling with a horrid cold, which by afternoon is manageable, but through the night and in the morning it's grim.

Not a pancake has passed my lips but I have been out to lunch with an 'old' friend whom I haven't seen for several years. We had a wonderful catch up and a delicious carvery.

Hope all the poorlies start to feel better soon, there is nothing worse than a rotten cold and yet we try to keep going because it is 'just a cold'

Oh Grannya. It' s awful when you get that missing them feeling is n't it. I was a bit down with it yesterday after mine had been home for the weekend. Hope you feel better all round soon.

... Dropping things. Specs in Sainsburys- shattered frames. Dish of tinned tomatoes from microwave - amazing how much kitchen they splattered. Small plate from dishwasher - amazing how many tiny pieces there were. I'm going to bed before anything else goes wrong.

Gardening. Sorted out my mini strawberry bed and dug over the veggie plot - apart from the last sprout plant and a few turnips.

Not a lot. watched two old Hitchcock films on TV. Couldn't be a***d to cook so had Indian take away for dinner, Gaviscon anyone ?

Baked for DGD's birthday yesterday. An 'Olaf' novelty cake for today's family visitors and a Victoria sandwich for tomorrow when she will have a couple of friends round. Two large cakes plus assorted cup/fairy cakes - phew!

I should be doing some course work, (on my last paper the tutor asked for a re-sub on one question, {pouty face} and I thought I was doing so well) but I have got until Tuesday to do it, and it is only 1 question.

Gardening in the sunshine- they say 1 stitch in time saves 9- but my dad always said 1 weed in time saves 1000s.

Same here, ga, I started first thing after walking the dogs, had an hour in the greenhouse so I could listen to The Archers, then back outside for the rest of the day. Lunch was a very quick lamb chop thingy instead of a roast.

Every joint in my body is now looking forward to a nice glass of chilled Chardonnay.

My knees are killing as I had a wonderful day skiing yesterday, and my back is 'whistling' as we say in French- after all the bending and gardening.

I too have spent the day in the garden. - again. I thought I'd just about got everything straight when DH pointed out the tray of dahlias and bag of gladiolus in the shed. Goodness knows where I'll squeeze them in.

Went shooting arrows in the sunshine from 9.30 until12. Did a quick shop, came home, did the washing, put a loaf on to bake. Sat in the sun for an hour, got too hot so came in. That's enough for me for a day.

Oh and I ate the Goan prawn curry I'd made! Not and sour and lovely

Today I have been mainly buying a new vacuum cleaner!! The previous one died a horrible death last week!! I borrowed son's machine to try it out and immediately purchased one from JL (where else) Wow......what suction! And so easy to manoeuvre , it's the ball that does it!!! I am easily pleased, just buy me a kitchen/household appliance and I am a happy bunny! Carpets never been so fluff free.

Watching DBH at Pickett's Lock doing his athletics stuff. That was thew highlight of his day, mine was going to Ikea once he had collected his medal, having lunch and buying a new wall unit, some plantpots on wheels and various knick-knacks. Plus wandering around buying weird Swedish groceries like caviar in a tube. It was so hot that when we got home I had to turn the heating off.

Going round to next door but one to complain about their dog in my garden - and getting bitten by it.
Then dealing with shock, paramedics, police and the nurse at the doctor's where I went for a better dressing and a tetanus jab.....

Oh Alie, what a lot of neighbour trouble you're having. Maybe see you in April when I'm doing some granny duty in Didcot.

Allie I do hope the bite wasn't too bad. I hope your neighbours were suitably ashamed. And the dog was too.
Actually there's just this minute been a whole programme on radio four on just that subject. Apparently the act giving you redress on private property hasn't actually passed through Parliament yet. But hopefully the threat of future prosecution may make them keep their dog under better control.
