I thought that we had already reached the 1000 messages. Maybe we haven't. Anyway...for when we do, here's the new extension. I'm making it warm and cosy and there are date slices to be enjoyed. Rory has claimed his corner of the sofa. wink

When Hubby's gran was in a care home with dementia she and several of the other residents had soft toys to cuddle. She loved that toy dog. I am not sure if she always knew it was a toy, but just cuddling it helped her keep calm and happy.

Gentle (((hugs))) Galen.

soop Sun 12-Jan-14 13:26:16

Charleygirl petting certainly is therapeutic. smile

Charleygirl Sun 12-Jan-14 12:46:01

Galen if you pet Rory using the recently dislocated shoulder side while resting on the sofa, that will be your physio for the day. You will enjoy it so much, as will Rory, that you will be back to give him more attention. His purring may send you off to sleep.

soop Sun 12-Jan-14 12:32:03

Galen I had forgotten about your poorly shoulder ordeal. It takes time to recover from such a trauma. Bless you. Sit quietly and relax. sunshine

Galen Sun 12-Jan-14 12:21:39

Afternoon all. CBA to do anything much today. That shoulder took more out of me than I realised. Still feel rather weepy and sorry for myself.
I'll just sit here on Soop's comfy sofa and chat to my GN pals if that's ok?

soop Sun 12-Jan-14 12:11:59

Good morning to my lovely Granspals. It is chilly in bonnie Kintyre. The wind has changed direction. No walk for MacSporran and me this morning. Logs on the fire, ready to light at lunchtime. Coffee almost ready. Shortbread biscuits on the plate.

Agus Your granddaughter's comment made me chuckle. As you say...priceless!

ffinnochio I've prepared the chaise longue for your afternoon siesta. You will have a delightful view of the sea...always very soothing, I think. smile

Nellie dear, Gransnet keeps me occupied when I should be changing the sheets, cleaning the cooker, sorting stuff for the recycling collection...I somehow manage to catch up with such chores but I would sooner stay with this forum. It's much more fun.

Galen listening in to folks wittering/blethering is a harmless way to unwind. Carry on...

Rory is delightful. He enjoys sitting between us on his rug on our bed during the early morning cup of tea time. His purrs are almost lion-like. shock When either MacSporran or I take a moment to enjoy the tea, he nudges us and makes it known that he wants more fussing. His kitten [she'll be about two years old] has started to visit at breakfast time and early evening. MacSporran cannot bear seeing her waiting too long for food and, in spite of saying - 'they': Rory and kitten 'are wild animals' he insists on presenting her with a hearty meal. She then sits on a low branch of a tree in the copse. Rory sits our side of the fence and they stare at each other. Both cats, Rory especially, have given us lots of pleasure. smile

Genre should be here.
Nb to self. PREVIEW,

Galen Sat 11-Jan-14 17:04:26

I went out for lunch with a legal friend from the tribunals. I now feel pleasantly relaxed and disinclined to cook anything for supper. I'll just sit genre and listen to you good people wittering on if that's ok?

Nelliemoser Sat 11-Jan-14 16:09:54

I have come in here fleeing the smell of burnt sprouts. I cleared the vegebox of left overs, and I was cooking them to add to bubble and squeak.

I put the blame fully onto Gransnet.

Can I sue them for the loss of half a dozen slightly soggy sprouts?

I will go home when the smell subsides.

ffinnochio Sat 11-Jan-14 15:31:11

soop I've had a jolly good nap on your v. comfy sofa, following a long misty walk through the lanes. Feeling refreshed. I've put your lovely flowers on the kitchen table for all to enjoy. Thank you. smile

Agus Sat 11-Jan-14 15:00:06

Interpret even blush. It is a great stage Soop and we are very lucky to share this with them.

Youngest one told me this morning she is going to grow up to be a doctor, still marry Grampa but won't have a baby now as she will be making lots of babies for other people when she is a doctor. Priceless

soop Sat 11-Jan-14 14:25:42

Agus The toddler stage is all too short. We often reminisce about the times we spent with the wee man when his world was "brand new" and everything in it needed every ounce of his attention. I can still picture him lying flat on his tummy looking under the roundabout to see what made it spin. Standing for ages looking through railings. Inspecting the tyres on parked cars. Kneeling spellbound in front of the washing machine. Picking up bits of discarded paper and toddling over to the rubbish bin. Aren't we really lucky to have such memories. smile

Agus Sat 11-Jan-14 13:56:50

Times together are indeed precious Soop. Our youngest GD will be registering for school on Monday sad I love the toddler stage with all the chit chat, collecting her from nursery, running into my arms when she sees me and being presented with a painting she has done for me, hoping I get the subject right as I interperate her art.

Good luck kitty. Our two GDS stayed last night, house is like a bomb site, bit knackered but good fun. I have crept away for 5mins respite grin

soop Sat 11-Jan-14 13:38:33

kitty and I wouldn't mind betting that you are loving every minute. Have fun. Times together is precious. smile

kittylester Sat 11-Jan-14 13:32:36

I'm popping in for a reviving brew. DD and her daughters are staying for a week - they've been here half a day and I'm exhausted. grin

Good to see everyone. sunshine

soop Sat 11-Jan-14 12:42:19

A bright and breezy good morning in bonnie Kintyre.

ffinnochio I'm so sorry that you are not sleeping well. You must feel washed out during the day. Do you get to sleep and then wake up with a worry on your mind? flowers

number I do hope that you can visit Kintyre. I would love to see you. smile

bags WISH that you lived just a little closer. I would so love to see you more often than we can manage. Hey ho! wink

LizG No need to bring anything with you when you pop into the kitchen. It really is good to see you again. A party for an eight year old...wow, you are definitely going to be needed. grin

LizG Sat 11-Jan-14 08:35:21

Don't seem to have been able to pop in here much recently so I have brought in some roses [tescos only I am afraid] and some home made shortbread. Its in a tin and should stay fresh for a while. I am going to telephone my middle DD to offer to help at her 8 year olds birthday party. If she takes me up on my offer wink I shall need a brew and a sit down here in the peace before starting.

thatbags Sat 11-Jan-14 08:06:46

Hope you got back to sleep, ffinn.

number, I do hope you'll be able to travel to Kintyre again and have a chat with Our Soop. There's nothing like it for cheering the soul smile

ffinnochio Sat 11-Jan-14 01:13:52

Wish it could be so number.

Having one of my frequent sleepless nights, which are becoming a bit of a problem. Ah well. Kettle on for a gentle sup of lemon tea and a re-warming of the hot water bottle.

numberplease Fri 10-Jan-14 17:11:04

We`re still not sure if hubby will be able to drive again, if he can, we may yet get back to Kintyre, and then that blether will be well and truly on!

soop Fri 10-Jan-14 16:45:03

Yes, I was looking forward to having coffee and a blether with you, number. I don't expect that you'll be able to travel this far afield in future. Such a pity. smile

numberplease Fri 10-Jan-14 16:32:43

Bet McSporran didn`t say "twit"! But then again, he`s a gentleman, unlike my hubby, so he may have done. Soop, I wish we could get back down your way, that newly refurbished Royal looks great.

soop Fri 10-Jan-14 15:37:37

Lona So true... wink

Lona Fri 10-Jan-14 15:12:37

soop* You're a laydee! wink
