Soops kitchen extension 2

A warm welcome to you lovely lot...it's a grey, mild day in bonnie Kintyre. We have strolled around the village and stopped to blether with a few friends in the wee shop.

Tegan you are right on both counts. I can definitely see a family likeness between tortoiseshell kitten and her papa, Rory. And, we shall not be moving from our home. Having gone through much disruption, we came to the conclusion that we would be no better off. The figures didn't add up. In fact, we would have possibly been worse off, financially. We have worked very hard to create our home. We've been through some tough times in the process of the build. This is where we belong. It's a huge relief to be free from all the hassle of the past few months. From hereon, we'll enjoy what we have.

Icyalittle you are more than welcome to snuggle up in the tartan rug. I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell. There are a number of wintertime bugs around at the moment. Whatever it is, please don't neglect to look after yourself. A sore throat, a chesty cough can very quickly turn into something very serious.

number and anno Tortoiseshell will remain feral. Although she visits for food, it's best that she continues to live the life to which she is accustomed. Unlike Rory, [who chose to live in wheelie bin and kennel] she runs away, a great speed, when approached. We believe that she has the best of both worlds - freedom and a local diner.

bags Did you injure the toe that has been causing so much trouble? As for chilblains, you have my sympathy. MacSporran had an appointment to have bloods taken earlier today. After four failed attempts, the nurse had to make a new appointment for him.

I've just this moment had a phone call from our lovely next door neighbour - she married our good friend five months ago [after a 20 year courtship!] She is a non-smoker but has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She is to be admitted to hospital on Monday and will undergo radiotherapy for a week.

agus, my mum used to rub Snowfire on our chapped hands. Brilliant stuff! The chilblains are not painful or itchy. Keeping my fingers crossed they won't become so. Lovely that you're getting on with a temari. You have to post a pic, you know!

soop I did injure the toe (sprained the main joint) many years ago while flinging myself about highland dancing and it has sometimes been a bit arthriticky since then. When I went to the doc to ask if I should stop dancing while it was a digitus rigidus, he said "Don't give in to it!" so I didn't . I was really surprised when my GP prescribed an antibiotic. I didn't think it was bad enough for that, but I guess he thought it was since it hadn't cleared up by itself in several months.

bags Several months seems an awful long time to have a poorly toe, 'though as your GP suggests, a sprained joint can develop arthritis which flares up from time to time. I hope that the latest antibiotic has done it's best to cure the discomfort.

Heaven only knows why I remembered her name Soop. Pleased to know though that my memory still works although it would be more beneficial if I could remember important things . -Sorry to hear about your neighbour's bad news.

bags has the GP finished monitoring your blood pressure?

A quiet day today. Calm sea and a multi-grey sky. The islands are shadowy...very mysterious.

Rory is fast asleep...again.

No, the GP hasn't finished monitoring my BP but i haven't been back to him about it. I'm monitoring it at home and taking action to lower it myself. Such experiments take time. I'll report back to him in due course. I'm not worrying unduly about it as I must be in a low risk category if never smoking, not being overweight, getting a fair amount of exercise and not drinking much alcohol count for anything (which all the blurb says they do). I can make some change to my diet by lowering my carbohydrate intake and increasing my fruit and veg intake, though not too much as I suffer slightly from IBS if not careful with fruit. Will see how it goes over some weeks. Lowest systolic reading so far this morning after less than a week and diastolic reading OK. Time will tell.

Or, here is the short version of all that:
I take enough bloody pills already! Damned if I'm taking any more if I can avoid it.

The beautifully Mistletoe tree (an aged apple tree covered in wonderful clumps of the stuff) has just been cut down by the orchard owner. I can no longer gaze out of this study window at it's wizened beauty.

Am wondering how it is that a wee boy of three [last seen going to his bed] had disappeared without trace when his mother went to wake him at breakfast time. Beyond heart breaking!

A lot of things don't seem to add up about it . I know we complain about the police sometimes [well, I do] but aren't they amazing at times like this. Fingers crossed for a happy outcome for the little chap.

They are searching the shore down at Cramond and Silverknowes - within reach from his home for a determined three-year-old who has enjoyed outings to these places in the past and fancied a trip on his own. Hope they find him safe soon.

Not too late at all, Grannyeggs Sending all good new year wishes to you. I'm rather partial to banana bread. I shall pop the kettle on and prepare a pot of refreshing tea.

Charleygirl our friendly local builder will be working on the extension. Rory knows him well. Tortoiseshell kitten had breakfast at 7am. Back for lunch at 1.00 and is now sitting in her close-to-the-ground branch in the copse. Rory is sitting the garden side of the wire fence. They will spend some considerable time staring at each other. Seems to make Rory happy.

We've been into Campbeltown to do the weekly Tesco shop. En route, the sky was spectacular. Shafts of sunlight pierced the pink-tinged clouds and cast a subtle shimmer on the surrounding hills. Sadly, no camera in the car.

The little boy who is missing is bothering me a lot. Something definitely seems amiss. Poor wee soul. If I could, I would join in the search for him. The police are doing their utmost to find him. He's about the same age as our wee man...far too young to be away from his mother and the sanctuary of home.

Yes, very worrying about this little boy....oh dear.

Doesn't anything involving children remind you of a grandchild - much more so than things reminded me of my own children. Although DGS2 is only two tomorrow, there is a similarity around the eyes.

DGS and his sister are coming round in a minute so we will be back to the 4 under 3 again until teatime. May I have some tea to build me up.
