MacSporran plays the piano [very well.] I can hum a tune but it's best that I don't sing. Sister Gabriel had all the girls in music class step up to the piano and sing the scales. I reached fah and was told not to participate in future. Apparently, I was the lone tone-deaf pupil that ruined the choir. Never did recover from that embarrassing episode.

Feeling rather weary after a day looking after (and indulging) my lovely GD who is doing really well after her op last Wednesday. I even managed to get her out for a very short walk "round the block" which put a few roses in her pale little face. DD came for her after work and said how much better she was looking so I think she is definitely on the mend now.

Just need to have a quiet sit down and maybe a stroke or two of Rory to restore energy levels.

Anno I have calcific tendonitis in both shoulders and when the pain becomes too unbearable my GP gives me steroid injections which can last, pain free for approx. 10 months. My last GP diagnosed arthritis and treated me for 8 years with a daily dose of Ibuprufen until one day, excruciating pain meant a visit to A&E when CT was diagnosed. Orthopaedic Surgeon found no sign of arthritis. I really feel for you having both.

Hope you are driving soon Galen. Very frustrating for you. I'm afraid I am a very impatient patient and although I tell people to take care , take it slowly etc. I never take my own good advice

I had steroid injections in the left shoulder, Agus but subsequently had a partial replacement of the joint, due to bone spurs. I don't know yet if the right one has the same. I hope not, but will raise the issue with my GP next Monday. If anyone suggests physio, I shall probably scream!

Feeling rather fraught today after having 4 under threes creating mayhem yesterday. I know I'll look back on it fondly but it was blinking exhausting while it was happening!

Good Morning. I haven't called in for a while, and just reading recent posts, do so wish I had. what a friendly, supportive and entertaining lot you are. Yes please, I'd love some thick toast, dripping in butter. White bread if we're going mad. I empathise with all the shoulder people, and regret we don't have any 3 year olds in our family to tire me out. Still, we live in hope, as some of the younger generation are newly married, others busy setting up their first homes together.

I toasted a couple of scones yesterday, butter and jam spread over and took that plate and my coffee to the computer. I turned my back for a second, unravelling the mouse when I noticed that Tara was thoroughly enjoying the butter and jam! She never moved so fast in her life.

Just made some coffee - plenty left for anyone in need of a caffeine fix. Going to cut DH's hair now - it's only a matter of running the shears over his tonsure but saves a £10 trip to the barbers. he was trying to remember how much a schoolboy's haircut was in the 1950s and thinks it was 1/-!

Can't settle to anything today so thought I would pop in for a cuppa. My daughter is seeing the specialist and she is worried he will tell her 'its all in the mind'. Personally I think they will offer steroid injection in her foot and physio. She just wants to find out what is wrong, deal with it and get back to work before her money completely dries up, but sadly the NHS doesn't consider personal circumstanes within the healing process.

Think I might have to make some scones for toasting. Your story made me drool Charleygirl even if yours did get stolen . Forgive me but I think I will pace up and down by the window, hope I don't drive you mad!

A very good afternoon to all my Granspals. I've just this minute returned home having done a pile of ironing for a friend. MacSporran has made lunch and a pot of coffee. Rory has taken a brief look at the vet's special [expensive] biscuits...and wandered off with a certain look on his face.

Gagagran "Ae Fond Kiss" is a favourite. Some time ago I heard it sung by a Scottish lady. It was the best rendition yet. All I can remember is that she was a Mary ? Does anyone know to whom I'm referring?

Hello again, baubles. You've had a very busy time recently. It's good to have your company.

Just heard from my daughter soop. She liked the specialist and he didn't suggest it was all in the mind. Unfortunately before he can make a decision he wants a full body MRI scan and nerve tests but there are only two people who do these tests and there is a long waiting list. My daughter has been off work now since 10th October and her SSP is running out. Its now official, I am panicking.

I think another cuppa is called for and possibly the biggest, stickiest, creamiest cake I can find in the cupboard. Avert your eyes everyone - good job they are virtual

LizG I would also be panicking. Crikey! Your daughter must be climbing the wall with frustration. It seems barmy that just two people are qualified to carry out the tests she needs. There are times, are there not, when one wishes that certain deserving cases might be considered to qualify for urgent attention. Goodness only knows how much longer she will have to wait. I wish that these were real.

Sit back and I shall make you a pot of tea and serve it with a slice of Dundee cake.

Tortoiseshell kitten [Rory's daughter] has arrived very early for her supper. MacSporran is about to tidy the garden. Rory will accompany him. Meanwhile kitten will sit snugly on a branch in the copse. She will oversee matters. As soon as MacS and Rory return, she will make her way through the gap in the fence and take up her rightful place on top of what was R's kennel. When she realises that I'm on my way with food, she'll drop down and hide away under the hydrangea bush. I shall then place her supper on the roof and, as I close the kitchen door, up she'll jump and polish off all that is on her plate.

She really looks like he dad, soop. Am I right in thinking you're not planning to move now? Your home looks so beautiful .

Rory`s daughter is a beauty, she`s the dead spit of the mother of our first kitten just after we were married, she was called Sunday, because she was a stray they took in, and she arrived on a Sunday. She may have been tortoiseshell, but her son, who we had, was a gorgeous bluey grey colour with blue eyes, we called him Smokey.

I've just one tablet of my antibiotic course to take now. Toe looks a bit better but can't say I'm impressed with the medication. No worries, it doesn't hurt. Meanwhile i have developed chilblains on several other toes! I haven't had chilblains since I was a child. Mind you, even with insulated Muck boots, I have had v cold toes (and fingers) a few times recently when working outside.

Ouch bags I remember having chilblains when I was a child and I think something call snowfire being rubbed on them. This might cheer you up a bit, the styrofoam ball was easy to cut and my first temari ball is under way!

We all had chilblains a lot in the Pennine winters when I was a child. No central heating and a big and old draughty house, so no wonder really. They used to say you should wee on them to cure them but I could never figure out the acrobatics required so I didn't ever try it!

I've been asleep behind the sofa here for about a fortnight, while I dealt with coming off the steroids, almost done now. Yucky sideffects like cramps in the morning waking up, so I slept on!

Going to singing group this afternoon, will come back later.
