I thought that we had already reached the 1000 messages. Maybe we haven't. Anyway...for when we do, here's the new extension. I'm making it warm and cosy and there are date slices to be enjoyed. Rory has claimed his corner of the sofa. wink

I was going to put a load of washing on, but you ladies have just given me the perfect excuse not to! Happy New Year to one and all, especially the lovely Soop, and the owner of Crazy Daisy.

No one up yet? I will just hang this banner up.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Charleygirl Wed 01-Jan-14 13:21:52

Please do not waken Rory. He deserves a good 23/24 hours sleep.

soop Wed 01-Jan-14 13:34:37

Good afternoon to you lovely lot and a very happy new year to you all. Nfk Yes, I know the feeling well. I blame the bubbles. They get up your nose and make you go all giggly. wink

Thank you for looking after Rory. He isn't used to seeing us all dressed up and disappearing for a few hours in the evenings. He trailed around after us and I must confess, I felt a little guilty at leaving him alone. We were home again and in bed by 2am...which, for us, is LATE. grin

Our friends Liz and John were the perfect host and hostess. The food was marvellous. We had wine, Champagne, Port and a couple of wee drams followed by a toast at midnight with more Champagne. In between times we played Charades and Guess Who I Am. We sang songs [out of tune] and hugged a lot. I have taken a few photos and will add one or two to the album later this afternoon.

This morning we watched and listened to the traditional New Year's Day performance given by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. It was delightful. The setting is sumptuous. It also included ballet. The dancers wore Vivienne Westwood creations.

Happy new year Soop and McSporran and Rory. Thank you for letting us all visit your kitchen when we need a bolt hole.

soop Wed 01-Jan-14 14:33:11

Nellie darling girl, you are more than welcome...flowers

About to add a few pics from last night. I took many which appear awfully blurred. Champagne! wink MacSporran looks good as he plays Charades. The tapestry wall hanging [12 days of Christmas] was made for Liz by two close friends.

soop Wed 01-Jan-14 14:39:43

Can anyone explain why it is that my latest photos start in 15th place in the album? confused

Grandmanorm Wed 01-Jan-14 15:27:29

Happy New Year one and all. I have just been poured a glass of champagne as there was plenty left over from midnight!!!!!
I am happy to share it with those who would like a glass. Obviously Soop and Macsporran will have first offer as a thanks for their hospitality over the past year.
I drank vey little last evening so there is plenty left.

LizG Wed 01-Jan-14 15:38:29

Happy 2014 all. Could your photo problem have something to do with the positioning of the cursor when you start to upload soop. it is not something I have tried to do so don't understand the intricacies.

Having a mini disaster at the moment, I seem to have gone off alcohol other than the virtual sort grin. Only managed to small glasses of wine last night one with supper and one at midnight. This is unheard of for me. Think it may have something to do with new medication I am taking sad

Nonu Wed 01-Jan-14 16:16:18

Grandma I would love to join you in glass of champagne ! However, I have signed up for "Dry January " !
tchsmile

kittylester Wed 01-Jan-14 16:49:00

I haven't signed up and I had none last night.

Nonu Wed 01-Jan-14 16:54:57

I aim to drop a dress size by February , AND I will !

dustyangel Wed 01-Jan-14 17:11:55

Happy New Year to soop, McSporran and anyone else I haven't said it to yet this year. I hope you all have a good 2014.
soop, I watched that concert as well! Wasn't it fantastic? It must have been lovely for the dancers to be able to dance in such beautiful surroundings. I loved the costumes, well, except for the tartan ones. shock
I'll share a glass please Grandmanorm, I haven't given up yet. grin

I'm feeling a bit guilty for not stirring myself to go out to a live concert. They are not often on at a reasonable time, but then I don't usually stay up out till the small hours either!
I think I'll just sit quietly in the corner till I have to think about supper, I'm going to create a sausage casserole from a very easy recipe that I saw on GN. It will work with Quorn sausages wont it?

Lona Wed 01-Jan-14 18:24:27

Happy New Year to you all, not forgetting McSporran and Rory of course.

soop Re your photos, if you click on 'Edit pictures' on the right of the pics, you can choose the position they go on,then scroll down and press 'Save'.
That's how it's supposed to work anyway!

Gagagran Wed 01-Jan-14 19:16:49

Any news of McSporran's missing wedding ring Soop? I keep hoping to hear cries of joy from Scotland but haven't done so far. Would it be worth trying a metal detector?

Charleygirl Wed 01-Jan-14 22:21:17

soop I thought that all of the photos were superb. I have seen photos of your youngest grandchild before but he looks the happiest soul around, always smiling. It is so obvious he comes from a loving family.

Rory I noticed was awake occasionally but like Tara enjoys resting his eyes. They lead such a hard life.

I hope that you and McSporran have a good, happy and better 2014.

annodomini Wed 01-Jan-14 23:28:42

Happy new year to all in the kitchen. Lang may yer lums reek. Am no properly cream crackered, after a late night and a busy day. All good though. Cheers!

soop Thu 02-Jan-14 12:03:53

Lovely to meet you all in the kitchen. Thank you for all the new year messages. I trust that not too many of you lot are feeling fragile today.
LizG As I mature, I find that I can only partake of small measures of alcohol. A few sips is quite enough.

dustyangel yes indeed, the concert was a real treat from beginning to end. I did like the tartan outfits. I think that tartan is Vivienne W's forte.
I would so love to waltz in that ballroom. Amazing!

Gaga MacSporran hasn't found his wedding ring. We're to visit Oban hospital on Tuesday. Shall enquire at the lost property desk. We've tried telephoning it several times. There is never anyone to speak to.

I shall try to upload a photo later. Thank you for all the tips. Very useful. smile
