I thought that we had already reached the 1000 messages. Maybe we haven't. Anyway...for when we do, here's the new extension. I'm making it warm and cosy and there are date slices to be enjoyed. Rory has claimed his corner of the sofa. wink

soop many thanks. Tara decided that it was time for me to get up this morning just after 8.30am by jumping on top of me-that woke me.

Last night I was changing her litter tray. She had all day to use it but no, that was the exact moment. She hardly gave me time to put the new litter on the clean liner when she was in the tray, not bothering about me fiting the lid for privacy. She had been out but it was obviously too cold to linger for 5 minutes.

Please give hugs to Rory. He is handsome and he knows it.

That's cats. Charley! Typical.

I am in line for the lemon drizzle pud too please! Any coffee going?
Hope all are relaxing after the festivities......my daughter has for once, usually she is straight into cleaning up.....good!

Alie try this link to Just Linen for flat sheets. I ordered the flannelette ones with 60% off and the quality is excellent.

Elegran.... ironing them in situ....why didn't I think of thatgrin

I think your method is actually what I attempt to do!

Elegran Mon 30-Dec-13 17:16:00

It takes a large flat surface to fold them on, or you find one of the corners is twisted inside out and the whole thing becomes impossible.

NfkDumpling Mon 30-Dec-13 17:21:27

I just HATE changing duvet covers!

LizG Mon 30-Dec-13 17:24:34

I am almost too ashamed to come in here today - ironing duvets! I have never ironed one, the creases just fall out with the body heat. Oh the shame of it blush mind you the smell of the lemon drizzle cake lured me in smile

AlieOxon Mon 30-Dec-13 17:36:51

Granny23 had a look, nice sheets - but I want one to match!

I went all domestic using the top of my not-yet-unpacked new washing (wishing?) machine as an extra surface, it's in just the right place....I will see if I can make a shelf here, I always need more room!
Cleaned out the fridge, putting everything handy on it, and then made a cake - ditto!
This is not usual for me.....

soop Mon 30-Dec-13 18:27:27

Alie you put me to shame. I've done the ironing. I've also sat around for some considerable time, reading the new Rebus novel.

Fire is crackling and it's cosy indoors. Rory has done next to nothing. Now he needs feeding. Keeping a look out for his daughter cat. As soon as the sensor light is triggered, I shall take her supper and place it on what was Rory's upmarket kennel. Said kennel now houses logs.

I shall wish you all a pleasant evening and return tomorrow to catch up with the latest happenings.

Night night. moon

AlieOxon Mon 30-Dec-13 18:32:58

I did say it isn't usual!

Charleygirl Mon 30-Dec-13 21:32:58

Alie I do hope that this new washing machine has been worth the blood, sweat and tears. Is the fellow going to connect it tomorrow?

AlieOxon Tue 31-Dec-13 09:34:50

(Hi everyone)
Nope. He's away until after New Year. I put out a request on the local LETS system but no offer yet. However I better wait for him anyway because he knows how it goes......
Definitely a wishing machine.

Who wants to do washing on New Years anyway!
- Is there a party here tonight?

soop Tue 31-Dec-13 11:12:32

Dear Alie we've been invited to join friends in the village. I cannot therefore host a party. However, the kitchen is open to all Granspals who would like to celebrate. Bucks Fizz and delicious nibbles a plenty. Make yourselves comfortable. Rory has already bagged his seat. Cushions plumped and tartan rugs for those who need to snuggle up/down whatever. tchgrin

AlieOxon Tue 31-Dec-13 11:27:06

Fair enough soop, have a great evening!

- and we can drop in from Queenie's if we need a bit of peace and quiet want!

soop Tue 31-Dec-13 11:32:18

Sounds like a plan, Alie the kitchen door is never locked. My granspals can come, go, stay as long as they wish. At midnight, I shall send special thought to those who have become my real and cyber friends. May 2014 be kind to each and every one of you. smile

Lona Tue 31-Dec-13 11:34:53

Thank you to soop for keeping her kitchen open for us all - enjoy tonight but don't drink tooooo much!

Alie, my nan used to say that it's bad luck to do washing on New Year's Day as someone will die. confused It is also bad luck to put a calendar up before January 1st in case we don't make it? confusedconfused

Galen Tue 31-Dec-13 12:24:49

Very best wishes to you and McSporran for the next year.wine

AlieOxon Tue 31-Dec-13 12:31:58

I grew up thinking that you don't wish a Happy New Year until it is NY!

Don't know about bad luck, but I don't put my calendar up either, and washing will be OUT. Good.
kitty your nan had a good excuse to avoid hard work here....

soop Tue 31-Dec-13 12:42:10

At midnight, I shall be thanking my lucky stars for introducing me to Gransnet. My granspals have made a positive difference to my sense of well-being. Thank you. flowers
