At one of our parties, Ariadne, anyone can have a slinky body.

Yes we are all gorgeous and we are witty and so amusing but.. We do get a bit carried away and have left some messes that we haven't owned up to quite yet. That's okay though, we deserve to enjoy ourselves because scratches head well because we do.

Why celebrate Halloween, it is an American thing, not for us British?

Hallowmass eve - that's old enough, surely?

Halloween was celebrated long before Guy Fawkes caused the bonfires to be lit on 5th November. In Scotland children still dress themselves up and go "guising" in disguise - nothing to do with guys.

Halloween isn't American - trick or treating is.

Every year I hear that ridiculous complaint. NO, Halloween is NOT just an American custom. Where do you imagine they got it from? Yes, it crossed the Atlantic with migrants, of course. It never left Scotland. We used to dress up and put on masks to go 'guising' round the neighbours, doing our 'party pieces' and collecting fruit, nuts, sweets and the occasional sixpence. Our refrain was 'Please for my Halloween', not the now ubiquitous 'Trick or Treat' which I don't like as it suggests a measure of compulsion.

Yes, Anno the halloween presents are rewards for a song or recitation, not the result of intimidation.

My broomstick has snapped in half after DH tried to use it to jack up his ancient landrover so I'll fill up my new, petrol driven leafblower with kerosene. So long as I remember to set it to blow and not suck I should arrive in time!
