Time seems to have gone very quick since I have had my first early retirement and come back to Birmingham. A lot has changed for example my father passing away and becoming a granddad 4 times over and getting another job which lasted just under 5 years before being retired from that one. Andie and Dougal have come in to our lives and they are both moving on in age.
We have already booked our Christmas lunch.
Time for all Gransnetters to start saving for Christmas.
I am depressed as I've just seen a "back to school ad" as a former teacher this made me mad - schools haven't broken up yet! Even the posh ones! On the other hand, I don't mind Christmas coming early as I love Christmas.
What do you mean by posh schools?. I went to an ordinary grammar school and finished up at Cardiff University and got the same grade degree as 2 who went to Eaton.
Oddly enough we all landed up working for banks and we were all retired within a year of each other.
In the context of the above, by posh schools I meant independent schools which invariably have longer holidays than state ones. The one I used to work in breaks up for the summer this week, the state school my husband works in breaks up on the 24th. I didn't say that people who go to independent schools do better than those who go to state schools, just that they have longer holidays.
That's dead right, suzied! "Posh" doesn't in any way mean better. Just longer holidays...how I remember this time of year, scrabbling round to become fully staffed etc.
