I do drop in to a Weatherspoons for a coffee on a regular basis and I went there last night and spoke about the drunks to a member of staff I know.
She said that people tend to drink all day on Grand National Day and do not realise how much they have had.
She said she had refused to serve 2 people earlier in the day.
Oddly enough two of the staff thought I did not drink alcohol as I had never purchased any in that pub.
I did assure them I did drink alcohol at home and at the pub within walking distance of my home but not there as I was always driving after I visited that pub.

Oh dear what is Sutton Coldfield coming to? We have friends from Four Oaks coming this week, I will suggest they move away from this undesirable area. Now should I still offer them wine with dinner?[hmm)

I don't begrudge people with sports injuries being treated on the NHS as they are trying to keep themselves healthy to try not to be a burden on the NHS,

Something which happened once was a lady was advised by her occupational health department at her workplace to go to a local leisure centre and to take up something like aerobics.
She lost a lot of weight but unfortunately she broke her ankle.
I agree she did take a risk and things went wrong as a once off but she is now a lot better and doing aerobics again so I don't begrudge my taxes in going for her treatment.

Don't worry. The pub is in Boldmere.
Mind you I was on the train from New Street and finished my journey in Lichfield last year in July on a Saturday afternoon.
A group of young men were singing Christmas Carols.
And elderly lady wanted to go and tell them to shut up and I warned her that it would only stir up trouble and they were not doing any harm even though I think they had a pint too many.

They got off at Four Oaks.

They did no harm to anybody on the train and I hope they just went home to sleep the drink off.

It was just friendly conversation when the pub was less busy.
I can't remember how we got on to the subject of them thinking I never drank alcohol.
They almost get ready to serve me coffee without me asking in the same way the cashiers at the leisure centre put in the code for the class I am attending as soon as they see me.
I wonder how they remember?.

em, good to hear from you. If you have, as I suspect, been lurking, you will know that any admonishment will slide off Frank like water off a duck's back. Makes you fear for the standards of the banking profession...no, wait, we've lost any illusions about them long ago.

Have been lurking for only the last few days after lengthy absence but it didn't take long to form one or two new impressions. I am slightly concerned about the pomposity of some recent posts but don' t plan to get involved ( unless the wind-up conspiracy becomes irresistible). I'm more concerned that I may have lost track of several old friends with new names. I'll catch up. Just be patient with me if make an occasional faux pas!
