Alcohol related regrets.

Never to both! As with medication, alcohol has a great effect on me and sends me to sleep long before I could drink too much. I've never had a hangover, not because I am virtuous (which of course I am! but because I fall asleep. I'm a very cheap night out!

No. Don't drink much. Just a glass of Pinot with lunch at a pub.

I'm with all of the above replies! Cheap date, Pinot Grigio, 1 or 2 glasses, not drunk too much since my twenties, overindulgence put me right off when I was bullied into drinking too much whisky with "Don't you waste my whisky!"

I did something I regretted when I drank too much in my 30's I was at that time married to an alcoholic who of course encouraged me to drink, I became teetotal at 32 and eventually divorced the alcoholic . I've been teetotal for over 30yrs now..

In my 20s I know I was a terrible flirt after a few drinks - but what the hell - it was fun while it lasted!

Yes to the first part of the question and No to the second part!

Did get tipsy in my younger days and that's probably why I have been married to DH for 42 years!

But in my late 40's developed an allergy to tanins in wine so that slowed me down!

I now drink in moderation..a glass or two when socialising and occasionally a glass of something in the evening, a G&T or scotch & ginger. i do have some friends who still see off a bottle or two quite easily over a meal..cannot do that now!

No, I am TT. I have no problem with other having a drink but I always feel very embarrassed for them when they have one too many. It's all very well making a fool of yourself when you know what you are doing but how awful to have to be told of things you have done but can't remember. Never can understand drinking so much that you feel bad the next day because of it.

We have quite a good drinks cabinet which I quite happily resist but if there was chocolate in the house it would be a different matter

I've have said and done embarrassing things in my youth, but can't drink more than one small glass of wine a week now without suffering a migraine.

I don't like to see older women (or men) who've had far too much to drink, not just a bit tipsy, and I think that would put me off overindulging.

I too am TT for similar reasons to other posters. OH says he only married me because he could get me drunk for 9 pence! The rapid effects of alcohol on my system convinced me that it was not for me and I have not drunk alcohol for longer than I can remember.

I am happy to see others enjoy it - but do have serious concerns about young people who get into difficulties when they are drunk, especially girls.

The thing is, those of us who regularly drink lots and do embarrassing things aren't likely to say so after this virtuous lot of posts.

I did once lie in the gutter and refuse to get up but I don't regret it. I was only early twenties.

I once told someone I loved them, under the influence of a speed type drug, and then went on to marry him and it didn't work out.

I wish I could remember the generic name of the drug but in those long ago days it was prescribed for slimming and my boyfriend was doing national service and got it for me.

Wow! Life suddenly seemed so wonderful that I couldn't wait to wake up and start the next day. At the time I didn't realise it was due to the 'slimming tablets'.

Nothing virtuous about my TTness - it just makes me so ill after tiny quantities that it is a survival mechanism!

I regret not being able to remember the things I got up to when I was drunk in my youth . No point doing it if you can't remember it. Someone once travelled down from Liverpool to Cornwall under the impression that I was going to go back to Liverpool with him [I think he'd even cleared it with his mum] but I ended up getting rather drunk and spent the night with the friend he'd travelled down with. I feel really bad about that. My ex proposed to me when he was very drunk soon after I'd met him but I told him the next day I didn't hold anyone to anything said under extreme intoxication so it was several more years before we got married. I wonder how many men aren't so lucky. And I regret getting very drunk on barley wine because I can still remember the pain of it. I very rarely drink these days....

petallus I think they were amphetimine (sp?) based the 'slimming' pills. I thought they lead to manic house cleaning...could do with a course now

I was staying in NY at the Plaza hotel a few years back and decided, after a very good night out, to take a photo showing the height of the building. I decided the best way to do this was to lie on the pavement, in the snow and shoot up (oops, no slip intended!) As I slowly composed my shot, into focus came a looming NYPD officer. He did think it was funny, fortunately

I'm sure I drink more than the recommended amount as it now appears that the average glass of wine is 2.3 units.

Tegan - yes, too much barley wine was very debilitating....

Kali, it depends on the alcohol percentage of the wine. I actually only like wine which is less than 10%, which means I can drink more of it, quantity-wise!
