Mine is finally getting a knitted teddy bear to look reasonable. I am hopeless at faces on any toy I knit. These little teddies looked so easy, but the first two I made are currently starring in their own Horror Movie called "How to terrify a Child."

Getting the grass cut for the first time in a month as it is the first dry day we have had since then. By 6.00pm the grass was finally dry enough, although the ground was still soft and the cut grass was really heavy because it was so lush and green and long. I now look out of the window onto a lovely smooth lawn - and quietly forget that most of it seems to be moss.

At Tai Chi this morning I was shown an exercise to help with carpal tunnel syndrome. Almost instantaneous relief from the pain in my hand and wrist.

POGS Wed 16-May-12 21:22:10

glassortwo.

You are kind. He did but I forgot he can't chew meat very well and I took him for a carvery. He is on a strong dose of morphine and he had a pint of mild for a treat and it went straight to his head, wobbled to the car. I just hope he behaves himself with his carer tonight he is quite a ladies man.

Lovely day though.

glassortwo Wed 16-May-12 21:24:00

pogs that made me giggle the thought of him chasing the carer around grin

Finished my packing and off for three days to Twickenham to visit my DIL and two DGD - Papa is going to Portugal for a stag do and I'm going to keep Mama company. Any excuse to see them really

My DD has just rung and told me that she has set a date for her wedding (after her and her boyfriend have been together 9 years) I am so excited ! grin.
The date is August 3rd 2013, so plenty of time for me to sort out a hat to wear grin

Anagram Wed 23-May-12 22:15:21

That's lovely, Annika - such good news! And as you say, a lot of time to get sorted. smile

Fun in the sun and paddling pool this afternoon with DGD2 & DGS1 so their mums had some time a) to sleep b) to shop! Also gives DGD1 some dedicated time with mummy after school!

GS came for supper and then was collected by his father and then I played Bridge on line. DH is away for a few days and now I'm going to bed to read for an hour.

Are you walking around in the nude?

artygran Thu 24-May-12 22:14:20

Watched a great crested grebe with her chick at our local reservoir; a beautiful bird and the large chick had rather spectacular markings. Also, in the same small nesting area a mute swan sitting on eggs and a coot with babies. It was like a maternity ward for birds!

Met with my very dear friend after many months when she was too ill to visit - ovarian cancer, which after years of chemo was treated with surgery - botched surgery and she had to go back into hospital to deal with a perforated bowel that had been missed - she now has a colostomy.

We met for lunch and then went to my daughter's for tea in the garden with the two wee boys - my lovely D had made cakes, and the sun shone, and the baby sat and cooed on my friend's lap, and 3 year old was chatting merrily and jumping in and out of the paddling pool....a perfect afternoon that I know my friend will treasure. No-one knows whether she will live long enough to see GC of her own - I was very proud of the way that my DD welcomed my friend and generously shared her family with her.

A very special afternoon indeed.

I've been to a very good amateur production of Pygmalion. Brilliant performances from the main cast members. Doolittle was particularly memorable. Last show of the season, so we all bought our season tickets for next year.

my grandson aged 2 looking at my (slightly!) flabby arms and saying - Granny - why have you gone down? I presume as in a balloon!
