Watched a heartbreaking programme on BBC2 regarding Gt.Ormonde St.Hosp. This episode dealt with children with cancer. One couple had a very sick 3 yr old with a large tumour near her brain stem. She'd had a series of treatments at GOSH but the outcome is not good. The mother did 'research' on the internet and found a clinic in Texas that had a different regime of treatment not recognised by either the US or UK medical authorities. So under the guise of drug trials they are able to treat children like this with some success. Naturally in their desperation to save the child the couple took her there. She actually came back extremely unwell, but it is understandable given the prognosis.
My point is that the internet is a wonderful tool but needs to be approached with a certain amount of doubt on some occasions. Anyone can put anything on the internet, but unless you are absolutley certain of who has inserted this info is genunine/accreditted you should be aware of the risks.
My darling DIL trusts the internet above everything else. Researches it at length on any queries she has about the children. Especially when she had her first child. Any advice from family or friends or even - god help us - Gina Ford didn't rate as high as the internet. I did point out that she had no idea who has put all this stuff on the internet and could be giving her really bad advice. She has improved a bit but it does drive my DS crazy .

What have I to do with gents and paranoia? Please
Sorry, Bags, didn't mean to alarm you! It was just that dorsetpennt said 'thank you ladies and/or gents' and there didn't seem to be any gents on this thread, and I thought about what you'd said on the Granddads' thread - i.e. that anyone could pretend to be a member of either sex and we wouldn't know!
