So, where do you usually start on GN

I usually skip down 'Active' then do 'I'm on'. But I always seem to get to the interesting posts ages after everyone else. sad What do you do?

Anagram Fri 27-Apr-12 18:33:45

I go straight to 'Active'. If you don't come in regularly it's easy to miss interesting posts if they slip down, though. Sometimes I put a thread in 'Watching', but then I forget, so when I eventually look they're completely out of date confused.

I just do the "Active" list, but when something is getting a lot of comments, I was always too slow.......then I discovered the refresh icon [shame] confused

I always start with 'active', but sometimes I'll hunt out a particular thread if I'm wondering how someone is or if I want to know what happened next. Sometimes when it's busy I never get further than the first few threads before it's time to leave GN and get on with other things - then I ponder and think about what I've been reading. (Keep wondering what's happened to ninathe nana's Samuel for instance. Am now thinking about Gally's daughter and wondering how granbunny's dad got on.....)

I always start on Active then browse Last Hour then last Day usually in that order unless I am caught by something really important,I try to pop back in after lunch to see if any drastic changes if not I try and catch up about this time whilst mr.glamma has the news on TV.

I go straight to last hour!

jack Fri 27-Apr-12 18:47:00

I usually start with 'last hour' to see what's firing everyone up. Then I look at 'I'm on' in case there's been a response to a comment or a thought. I'll now try 'active' and 'watching' (as advised).

Where's the refresh icon nanachrissy? And what does it do?

nanachrissy Fri 27-Apr-12 18:50:43

Jack It's a circular arrow at the end of the link bar at the top of my screen. If you click on it after reading the last posting, it will bring any new posts up, that have happened in the minute while you were reading!

imjingl Fri 27-Apr-12 19:11:15

Oh you mean on the 'puter!

I was looking on the site.

I asked for one but Matron Geraldine said 'no! Said I might that syndrome from too much clicking! Repetitive something.

whenim64 Fri 27-Apr-12 19:14:35

Strain Jingle! grin

I refresh the page by pressing F5 at the top of my keyboard.

greenmossgiel Fri 27-Apr-12 19:17:59

I just go on Active all the time.

shysal Fri 27-Apr-12 19:37:18

I always start with watched, then unanswered, last hour and last day depending on when I last looked. I only use active if I have missed more than 24 hours.

GoldenGran Fri 27-Apr-12 19:42:24

Istart with last hour, but I realise that why I'm always coming in to something half way through and so don't have anything more to add. I will do the active thing from now on and who knows, I may one day have something interesting to say!

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 20:04:40

I always start with Active, in fact I spend most days there grin

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 20:05:36

F5 all the time.

Ariadne Fri 27-Apr-12 20:40:28

Always start with Active.

Nonu Sat 28-Apr-12 11:44:48

Last hour , then last day , then unanswered , then active

Faye Sat 28-Apr-12 12:18:52

I start with last hour, then last day, then back to last hour.

GoldenGran you have lots of interesting things to say. If we all listened to what we thought of ourselves none of us would post a comment! hmm

MaggieP Sat 28-Apr-12 12:47:32

Last hour, last day then active then check I'm on if I have written a thread lately to see if any responses!
It is certainly addictive , when I have time. DH now comments that I am on the Gransnet site again! smile

Jacey Sat 28-Apr-12 13:06:26

Last hour, last day ...hadn't realised about 'active' or 'I'm on' ...have usually done the later via 'search' (which isn't as clear!) Thanx for kittyleester sunshine

Woody Sat 28-Apr-12 13:06:47

Well I've learnt something else today! I didnt realise there was an "active" button only ever used "last hour and last day" that shows I should be a bit more observant! Thanks for that tip.

Jacey Sat 28-Apr-12 13:08:32

Not that there is much difference between 'active' and 'last day' at the moment! grin

soop Sat 28-Apr-12 13:33:46

Depends how trigger happy I am. grin
Golden Your posts are very much appreciated smile

gangy5 Sat 28-Apr-12 16:19:49

I'm an active fan

mrshat Sat 28-Apr-12 16:32:05

"I'm on", then 'Active' then if there is time, 'Last Day'. If I pop back later I start with 'Last hour'. smile
