Coffee and Cake

Have been making Boiling Broonie (Sp) ever since a lovely lady posted the recipe, sorry I can't remember who it was. A thick slice of that with a crisp apple is heaven!
When I lived in Germany, coffee and cake was my replacement lunch, often a pot of coffee and TWO slices of cake! Then there were the 'stand-up' coffee shops, selling lovely traybakes ( a sort of plum cake) AND then wonderful home-made cakes when anything ( and I mean anything e.g. the allottments nearby) had a birthday.
Made a delicious sponge over rhubarb for pud yesterday... Yum!

As for coffee (note to Jeni) had a lovely cup WITH scone, jam (their own) and clotted cream at Harvey Nics in Bristol the other day!

ooh glamma hope I'm not too late lemon drizzle cake is my very favourite, please save me a big slice and I'll get the kettle on. I've just got in from a long day and a long drive so that will go down a treat.

soop drizzle cake now out of oven and just been drizzled it is massive I used advice given by glass a week or so ago and added baking powder with SR flour and boy how it has risen,will have to send half down to DD for children to have for supper I can't afford to have it sitting in my kitchen shouting eat me . I like carrot cake mum used to make a fab one with a handful of walnuts thrown in for good measure.

I am going to make a Lemon Drizzle cake this afternoon from a recipe I got from Mary Berry cake book it is a large slab cake so I will slice it up and we can all enjoy,sorrykitty it is not gluten free I will make you a separate one here it is
