Afternoon with Friends

Afternoon with friends is a treat
We make it special when we meet
For friends that cannot join us this day
They are missed and for them we pray.

On the table is a lovely bouquet
A pot of coffee and cups on a tray
I pick a different flower for each friend
Like our friendship, the flowers blend.

Visiting with friends makes my day bright
Each one is very special in my sight
I accept each one of them as they are
To me, each one is a shining star.

Afternoon with friends has come to an end
We have enjoyed our visit once again
I knew our friendship would stand
As each left with a flower in her hand

Soop, Yes, I too am amazed at the way some people are able to arrange flowers so beautifully, having the imagination to take a story and build a flower arrangement to suit must be really lovely - it is of course good that there are people like you and me who can appreciate the art - long may it live. (My vase of flowers looks as if it needs some water, so must go!)

I have found my lily of the valley - I planted something else near it (not sure what will have to wait till it flowers). Seems it has grown rather larger than I anticipated. The story of my gardening life!

Guess what? A friendly much longed-for text message, has lifted my spirits skywards. August family gathering has been arranged by three sons and daughters-in-law. Thanks to every one of you who "told me so..." I'm wearing a very silly grin right this minute. x

And, Mr Soop and I are to have coffee with Bags when we visit that nice hip man for the six week op' inspection. Life is looking sunshine

whenim64 Sat 28-Apr-12 17:18:47

soop Sat 28-Apr-12 17:25:53

whenim64 thank you. A long time coming but well worth the wait. Three new pics uploaded of wee man's birthday treat - a ride on a proper chuffa train on the Bluebell Line smile

glamma
Your turn will come. You mark my words smile

Six weeks not up yet. Doing well. Shorter walks were ordered by doctor. I was put into the naughty corner for "overdoing things"...you can't keep a good woman down wink

Enjoy your weekend. I'm off to try to tame my hair. I resemble a long-haired breed of dog [name eludes me at the mo']

glammanana Sat 28-Apr-12 18:30:53

soop when mine needs taming "Afgan Hound" comes to mind or "not tonight Josephine"
I told you to stop training for the 100 mts.at the Olympics didn't I ?? Did they give you the naughty hat to wear ?grin

Lovely photos soop, I adore steam trains. My father used to build scale models and run them in our local park.

nanachrissy Sat 28-Apr-12 21:09:03

soop
pleased for you smile, it doesn't take much to make us happy does it ?

glassortwo Sat 28-Apr-12 21:32:20

soop there you go, he did count you. Your little man has grown so much.

soop Sun 29-Apr-12 13:09:23

glamma Afghan hound it is! All flat and silky and dead unmanageable. Nice friend put it in rollers recently. It looked glam when brushed out. Once upon a time, I had a weekly shampoo and blow-dry on Friday [OAP day] but when we counted the cost, that little treat ceased. It was either hairdo or G&T. The latter won the toss.

harri Steam trains are dead romantic. Can't help but associate them with 'Brief Encounter' smile

nanachrissy Isn't that so? I'm far too sensitive for my own good. I think too much hmm and consequently replay "slights" [real or imagined] like a broken record.

glass Wee man is now no longer a baby. He's a little boy. I miss him terribly. Consoling myself printing photos of visits to see him over the past two years, in readiness for his keepsake album smile.

nanachrissy Sun 29-Apr-12 16:34:45

soop are you a gemini like me? I think far, far too much. Then I can get really upset about something that hasn't happened! confused

Having a bad low day today. Mainly about my daughter. Dad's gone and it's sad but part of life, but this upset with my dd is dreadful. So after my shop at Lidl, I called in to see my favourite baby, and my dil is taking me out on Thursday to the Trafford Centre smile

soop Sun 29-Apr-12 17:19:19

nanachrissy Bless you. I'm a Leo...roar is far worse than my bite grin

So sorry to hear that you're having a low day. You deserve some tender loving care. Your dil is kind. Kindness means such a lot, doesn't it? I wish that I could make things better for you. Am sending a virtual arm around your shoulder. flowers smile

nanachrissy Sun 29-Apr-12 22:15:35

Thanks soop. The day got slightly worse as my son almost cut the end of his finger off whilst chopping onions! We spent a couple of hours in A&E and after a nurse had glued it back, she made a comment that made it clear she thought I was his wife!!!
She should definitely have gone to specsavers!! It's a wonder she didn't glue his finger to the table! grin

soop Mon 30-Apr-12 11:09:00

nanachrissy Poor son! Ouch! A&E nurse paid you a compliment. I trust that you smile graciously.

I lifted the top of my finger off with the assistance of a Frey Bentos tin [some 40 years ago.] Went to A&E and had it stitched back on without any numbing agent. By the 'eck, I bit my hankie and I squealed [just a little.] Often wondered why the finger couldn't have been "put to sleep" during the procedure. Still got a fine looking scar.

Anagram Mon 30-Apr-12 11:13:23

nanachrissy that made me laugh! grin

whenim64 Mon 30-Apr-12 11:19:33

nanachrissy I'm a Gemini too, although I don't believe in astrology, but definitely prone to over-thinking!

I hope everyone is feeling a lot chirpier today smile

Annobel Mon 30-Apr-12 11:59:36

nanachrissy, at least you were, even if unconsciously, paid a compliment. A friend visiting when my not-much-younger sister was here asked if she was my daughter. [growl emoticon]

nanachrissy Tue 01-May-12 09:09:41

The odd thing was that I'd been crying and my eyes were puffy and makeup had disappeared, so I wasn't looking too good to say the least! That's what made it so funny!
He's ok now but his blood sugar levels are now sky high (and very hard to control,) which is not helping his eye pressures!
Sometimes I feel so sorry for him. But he is a joy really. smile

soop Tue 01-May-12 11:09:52

nanachrissy 'Puffy eyes' after tears is so me! Last week, I could barely open mine. I resembled a boxer after a big fight. You, on the other hand, are fortunate enough to look younger than your years. Well done wink

Sending more good wishes for you son's speedy return to good health.

nanachrissy Tue 01-May-12 17:09:21

soop I wish you were my nana! grin

Annobel Tue 01-May-12 17:26:23

Oh, chrissy, they never cease to be your kids!
