What Makes You Feel Your Age?

Eyebrows going white and bushy like my dad's were. And forgetting that if I buy too many items I will have difficulty carrying them home without transport. I've just done that and it's HOT!

Walking along the High Street today, noticed a man in front (walking same way as me) turn round to 'eye-up' a woman from the rear ...obviously having given her the once over as she walked towards him!! Then he did it again ...another woman making the most of the glorious weather ...bare legs/short skirt etc.

It suddenly popped into my head that ...if I'd been walking towards him ...he wouldn't have looked around to view me from the rear!!

Just left the cinema after watching Marigold Hotel (loved it!) and realised that everyone getting up from their seats staggered off down the stairs in just the same way as I did. Lots of ladies with their pals, and all of a 'certain' age!

My house is making me feel old at the moment. At some point it went from being a much loved family home with things that the children had made over the years and objects that had been collected, to a sort of mausoleum full of memories and clutter. It also started to look tired and dirty. It needs a complete blitz but I'm finding it very hard to let go of things [it's a bit like one of those programmes on the telly where someone comes in and helps you to throw things away]. I can see how the task becomes so great that people just turn a blind eye to it. It's been a bit of a shock moving stuff out of the living room so the decorator can paint it; it's taking forever and there's stuff all over the house. I must think long and hard about what goes back into it. I almost feel like leaving the house to it's own devices and moving into a shed in the garden; but it wouldn't take me long to fill that, would it!

crimson I do know the feeling.Some days I feel I'd like a complete house makeover but haven't the energy to locate,organise,choose replacements -quite apart from the cost and the upheaval.

crimson we have been steadily decluttering for about six months, and it really has been therapeutic. Quite a lot is in storage, ready to clutter up the next house, though. Downstairs was decorated while we were away, so the last few days have been spent putting furniture back, and decluttering a bit more...But I doubt it would ever have got done had we not decided to move!

Being exhausted at 10pm! Night all!

They say you should move every so often to de clutter, but I've been here for nearly forty years. How can you throw away something that your daughter made when she was 5? At the same time, what's the point of keeping it if she doesn't want it? But, once it's gone it's gone forever. One of the problems is that my children were incredibly creative; drawings and models everywhere going up to very large A Level work; draws full of photos going back to the point where I no longer had the time to put them in albums. And photo albums; now looking rather sad and yellowing, and looking like the photo albums we inherited from the parents. The passage of time is hitting me in the face like a wet kipper. And don't get me started on the garage. This was going to be the year when I found time to go for walks and read books.

One of the things that`s made me feel old just lately is realising that I only have one relative left who`s older than me, a cousin, by just 3 years. Whats sickening is that he looks 20 years YOUNGER than me!

Having a tremor in my right hand which means I find it difficult to pass a cup and saucer or eat cake with a fork.
So I can't be 'posh' -never was anyway.

When I make a phone call and the person at the other end of the line calls me Mr.
Even my voice seems to lack oestrogen; they think I am a bloke!

Seeing "famous" people who have aged - I saw Rodney Bewes (Likely Lads) on a recent Masterchef and was horrified, Christopher Plummer likewise.

Bushy eyebrows, nose hair, and the fact that even though I swore I would never play lawn bowls because it was "marbles for old people" (my Mum and Dad bowled for years) I've been playing Night Owls for a few years now and love the game and the company.

So is it the playing or the the fact that you "love the game and the company?" I would say just enjoy it!

Every part of me aching this morning after playing with our 18 month GS in Bute Park yesterday . But it was a lovely day with lots of . I know only too well that there are lots of nans and grandads out there who would have loved to be able to do just that ,so I am not complaining at all , just thanking my lucky stars

I've thunk about this for a bit and decided that I've always felt my age, whatever it was. Sorry to be so bloody straighforward !

Getting back from shopping and having to sit down to rest my ** knee before I do anything else!

Seeing my(five years older than me) DH's driving skills are deteriorating.

Running for a bus! I used to be able to run really well, but now, when I rush along the road for a bus, I find I've got no rhythm! My legs seem to jerk and I thunder along - probably looking rather silly! One thing, though, I don't seem to be out of breath when I finally get there, so that's something!
