What Makes You Feel Your Age?

I put all my shopping onto the conveyor belt in Tesco this morning and then waited my turn to be served. Amongst all the fruit & veg and tins & packets on the belt I noticed the Polygrip, Tena Lady & Rennies. They'd congregated together in a little group, as if to keep each other company.
There may just as well have been a big, cardboard arrow pointing at me from the ceiling stating This woman has false teeth, damp gussets and she burps

So I ruckled everything around a bit to separate the offending items and added a packet of trendy chewing gum so my shopping looked a bit more 'cool'.

Thank you, glass! And now, after having being able to eat only a bit of my Indian takeway (hopefully due to much shrunken stomach wink), I'm having a very large gin!! grin

Happy Birthday Green, thanks for the reminder about the shampoo, I feel like a treat too (having had a head cold, YUK!) Shouldn't moan, first one this winter. Oh dear we're in Spring now, I'm always a bit behind!

I didn't feel my age until I realised that none of my children were under forty, scary !

No facial hair ,not much eyebrows left,
yes climbing stairs and the fact that my youngest child will be 50 this year!

Barrow Sun 25-Mar-12 13:48:37

As I have mentioned elsewhere I have an older brother (by four years). He told me he knew he was getting old when he had to take a "Nana nap" in the afternoon!

greenmossgiel Sun 25-Mar-12 17:17:34

Thank you so much to everyone for my birthday wishes, wine, cakes and bouquets! smile
Like many of us, my youngest 'child' is 40 plus now. For the last few years, he'd shaved his head, but now has let his hair grow in - and it's pepper and salt coloured! I think he's been as shocked as I have! shock

Happy Birthday for yesterday green! I had 3 & 5 year old grandsons for the day and a sleepover yesterday, so not much time to switch on the lap top and I missed your special day. Sounds as though you had a wonderful time! I'm going to treat myself to that shampoo as well, it sounds gorgeous.
Well done with your smaller size....Hooray! flowers

PS Looking after two very energetic little boys makes me feel my age! smile

Yes my children are in their 40 as well but what makes me feel my age is my hair. My crowning glory is no more and I do miss it. It is now greying and dry and in windy weather looks spiky. I went to funeral in that cold weather and felt that my hair was such a mess, I went out next day and bought myself a hat. So like the queen I will go to special occasions with my hair covered up and behaving itself.

nelliedeane Sun 25-Mar-12 21:37:42

Anagram Sun 25-Mar-12 21:59:38

Psst, nelliedeane...Tena Lady! Then you can leap around, laugh and cavort like the woman in the advert....

nelliedeane Sun 25-Mar-12 22:14:47

thanks Anagram it either those or give up the cavorting,laughing...leaping can live without too activegrin would like to be slim like the woman in the advert, actually wouldnt mind the man where she gets her dress caught in the lift...wouldnt happen like that in Nellie's world the whole flippin lot would rip and I would be standing there in my flesh coloured full size compression knickers and the contents of my bag including discreet pack of tena lady would roll across the floor..think that might be more than an oops! moment

Anagram Sun 25-Mar-12 22:16:52

I have just 'tuned in' to this having worked in the garden all morning, and what is making me feel really old at the moment is make aching bones - should remember I am not as young as I was in the body, the mind is still thinking otherwise though, thank goodness.
