Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

JessM Sun 18-Dec-11 07:43:46

Good morning to you. Mine is off looking after his mum for the weekend (doing his turn) and I too am snuggled into bed with apple laptop. Just caught up with a couple of his Economists (I read the science, maybe the odd review and the obituary of Socrates the footballer - such good writing)
I feel like a bit of a dope because i have been sleeping very badly for ages (restlessly surfacing again and again rather than lying awake) and this week I have done a very obvious thing.... cut the caffeine after lunch. I was drinking a LOT of tea every day and one coffee in the morning. Anyway - much more peaceful sleep the last 4 nights. DOH! But also smile
Hope your OH recovers soon. People with bad colds are very boring company. But not sleeping with them helps to avoid their germs I think...

Ariadne Sun 18-Dec-11 06:48:52

Good morning everyone! Or are you all still recovering from the party? DH still snuffling away in the spare room, so am back in bed with coffee and iPad. He is SO ** off with his man flu!

Annika I have a daughter who often texts me very early in the morning when she wakes up, usually when I've just got to sleep after a difficult night. confused

Annika Sun 18-Dec-11 00:25:51

Been to bed but got again as DD keeps texting me to tell me how boring her works party is so now I am wide awake aagghhhhh ! angry

Ariadne Fri 16-Dec-11 13:30:16

My most vivid memory of DH sleep talking was once when he turned over and grabbed me in his arms. Thought...well you can guess. Then he shouted "It's all right, I've got you!"

Thoroughly fed up, I said "What?"

He relaxed his grip, said "It's OK, it was a trolley bus on the move," and turned over, still asleep.

A trolley bus? Then of course, I was wide awake!

Woken up by DH this morning laughing and singing in his sleep at 4am. No way I could get back to sleep so ended up going downstairs and putting the TV on. I did drift off for half an hour but feeling tired now so hoping to get 40 winks in a minute before DD arrives. Oh well at least he wasn't having a nightmare, sounded like he was having a party shock.

bagitha Fri 16-Dec-11 09:04:18

Maybe there's something to be said for man flu after all! Glad you had a good night, ariadne.

Gally Fri 16-Dec-11 09:01:21

Ariadne grin

Ariadne Fri 16-Dec-11 08:44:59

Slept like a log. Could it be because DH was in the spare room with a hot toddy, a box of tissues and smelling of Vicks? Yes, man flu has struck! I love him dearly but oh, the luxury of a king size bed to myself.

jingl Fri 16-Dec-11 08:30:32

Perhaps Mrs Pomps has put her foot down!!! shock

shysal Fri 16-Dec-11 08:07:59

I too have missed pompa, hope he is ok.
I had a slightly better night and managed a bath this morning with a foam ring. I laughed out loud when all the bubbles surfaced, it was like a jacuzzi!
Light covering of snow here in Oxfordshire, but it is turning to rain now.

syberia Thu 15-Dec-11 17:40:12

Thanks for your thoughts, I am still a bit fragile, but reading all the various forum threads always makes me smile.

supernana Thu 15-Dec-11 17:16:12

Annobel I'm missing him too. Come on pompa we need you smile

Annobel Thu 15-Dec-11 16:42:07

By the way, has anyone heard anything of pompa recently? have I missed something? confused

JessM Thu 15-Dec-11 16:29:19

She responded to my hairup thread. Her response made me laugh.

supernana Thu 15-Dec-11 13:37:52

harri grin
shysal Enjoy being pampered smile
syberia thinking of you x

harrigran Thu 15-Dec-11 13:24:38

My sympathy shysal would be so much easier if our bums were on our elbow, at least we would be able to sit comfortably.

jingl Thu 15-Dec-11 08:41:19

Phew!!!

greenmossgiel Thu 15-Dec-11 08:36:05

I was thinking about syberia too. I didn't post to her on here yesterday, as it's more of a 'blethery' thread. Hope you're doing ok though, syberia?

JessM Thu 15-Dec-11 08:31:58

When I lived in my last house my next door neighbour had a black cat called Bully. We lived near a fast-ish road. One day the kids came round looking for Bully. Later I was walking dog and saw a dead black cat on the verge. I told my neighbour and they retrieved corpse, held weepy funeral, mourned etc. Next day Bully turned up...

Have a relaxing day shysal

I wonder how syberia is ?

greenmossgiel Thu 15-Dec-11 08:29:33

jingl - shysal's cat is called Bugsie Boy! He's been out on the tiles all night!grin

greenmossgiel Thu 15-Dec-11 08:28:06

shysal, hope you're feeling a bit better now. It'll help that Bugsie Boy has come home, too - all's well with the world again (bloomin' cats - they have us dangling, don't they)!! Stay warm and as comfortable as you can. smile

jingl Thu 15-Dec-11 08:25:50

Pardon?

shysal Thu 15-Dec-11 08:22:13

Alone at last ! Bugsie Boy strolled home just as I set out with my Loc8tor to search for a corpse on the road, so now I can relax.smile

Carol Thu 15-Dec-11 07:15:03

Good morning Shysal I hope the pain is easing for you and you've managed to get some more sleep. It's always worse in the night, especially when you can't sleep because of it. Let's hope your poor cat is somewhere dry and comes crying for his breakfast.
