Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

bagitha Tue 10-Jan-12 08:21:14

Sunrise is a little before nine at the mo, but we're noticing the longer light in the afternoons.

Butternut Tue 10-Jan-12 06:53:18

Bonjour....Beautiful full moon last night - and it did keep me awake - but lovely nevertheless.

JessM Tue 10-Jan-12 06:50:33

Mornin yourself. What time do you get dawn at the moment, up there in the far north?

bagitha Tue 10-Jan-12 06:06:11

Mornin' all!

Ariadne Tue 10-Jan-12 05:31:59

Morning, pompa! Just come down to make coffee and decided to stay. DH snoring gently upstairs. I can hear the first birds begin to sing, and the first commuters setting off for London. Jow are you?

JessM Tue 10-Jan-12 05:31:35

You were awake at 3.15 Pompa. Are you OK. Hope you got some sleep since then.

Faye isn't it amazing how when cousins get together, no matter how infrequent their meetings are, they get on so well. Glad you all had such a good time together.

Lovely photo, Faye. You'll be sad to end the visit but lots of nice memories to take home.

Faye Sun 08-Jan-12 20:26:59

Thanks for the kind wishes, I have been having a wonderful time, we had a lovely belated Christmas day together yesterday with Christmas lunch.
My grandchildren have just enjoyed being together, the two eldest have played and played together the whole time. The three younger GC have also played together or played with the older GS and GD. The baby has been nursed by everyone, I have posted a lovely photo of the eldest GD and GS, in their pajamas holding the baby.
Dear little GS (nearly 4) who will be having his third heart operation later this year desperately wants to skateboard. He found some roller skates of his cousins so has had all of us at different times walking around the house, holding his hand, while he attempts jumps. Yesterday we had to stop him from trying to jump his scooter off the verandah. He also tries to run the scooter down the steps and along the edge of the concrete wall. confused
Today is the last day, tomorrow they will be going home. sad

Faye and Grannylin...Yippee... exciting times!
Back to the photgraph 'conversation', I recently bought an old album from a bricabrac stall just because I couldn't bear to see it being 'dumped'. Lots of lovely surprises as the guy who compiled it had visited places I had been to. His visits were made in the 1920s so lots of changes have occurred ( one photo of Nice shows washing being dried on the pebbles of the beach!)
Needless to say I would love to return it to his family, I've done a little research but must do more, wish me luck!

Had a lie in today, first time in ages. Visited GC yesterday and the youngest has yet another runny nose and bad cough and really looked under the weather but she did a little concert for us. She sang every song she knows and did all the actions but only to us GPs the rest of the family were away having tea. Memories are made of this.

Up at 7 but finished my book before I came here!
So nice to hear about others having great family days. I had one yesterday with my youngest grandson (10) - I wanted to get out, so we drove over to Wheatley. First we found a windmill, and had a bit closer look. I have never seen one close to.....it was apparently in someone's garden so we didn't like to intrude further, there were people working on it. (My sister told me later that she almost bought one in the Fens, to live in!)

Then we went on to Waterperry and I rediscovered the Rural Museum room, which he had never seen, and he was fascinated with the hundreds of things there! We talked to the man there and other visitors, I saw and handled a George III two penny piece, and somewhere along the line I and others were singing 'My Grandfather's Clock' - and I have no idea now how we came to be doing that! ....Just fascinating.

Also a very educational day - I'd hoped to get my grandson away from the computer for a bit, and it worked wonderfully.

Grannylin What a great trip. Mexico and your baby GS too. Lovely for you and for him to have his granny. You must tell us all about it. Cheers! wine or should it be tequila?

Grannylin that's fantastic - what a treat for you all thanks

Grannylin Sat 07-Jan-12 12:26:00

Thats wonderful Faye. I've had the best news ever. My son and Dil, who live in Mexico, have phoned to say they have an allowance for me to fly over there to help with childminding my 9 month old grandson!!I can only manage 10 days from next Friday but I am bursting with excitement. Its has come right out of the blue, just as I was about to sink into a miserable, lethargic, winter- hibernating mood!smilegrinsmile
