Did anyone watch this last night? What an amazing group of ladies oozing with talent. It brought a tear to my eye and GA you and your family were in my thoughts as I watched.

Yes I heard on the Chris Evans show on BBc radio 2 this morning that the choir is on Strictly tomorrow smile

I do so hope they make it! I have pre- ordered it for my iPod. (That's where I keep my music these days.)

Today's article in the Daily Mail is interesting - some update news from previous programmes and also more insight into the Military Wives Choir

The most moving thing about this choir is that at the outset, most of those young women appeared to be totally without any sense of self-worth. The lovely Scottish girl who was chosen as the soloist spent the whole of her audition saying, "sorry". Gareth Malone, with this initiative, gave them confidence, motivation, pride in themselves and satisfaction in their achievement, what an amazing person he is. I too was moved to tears.

Well Gareth is back (and being a well behaved GNer I am bumping this thread instead of starting a new one)
I thought Severn Trent did really well and are in the lead.
Attempt to concoct a bit of a story line is a bit laboured though.
There was an amusing moment in our house. There was a bit of outdoor filming in a sewage treatment works. Simultaneously DH sighs and I whimper and mutter "Oh lovely water industry!"
Unusual response to sewage treatment! (We were both working in it when we met. Seems we both miss it after 15 years away.)

Quite agree. In fact I am watching it now and gransnetting in the boring bits! Definitely the best choir so far, but I don't like the songs much.

The community choir I go to did the "Military wives song "Wherever you are" in the summer. I found it horribly cheesy and dreadful to sing its not a memorable melody at all. The programs are are too repetetive. I can see the benefits singing brings but I think they need a change of format now.

I have to agree. I'm finding it a bit boring now - same format eg finding a soloist who is [unsurprisingly] nervous but does good in the end etc etc. A lovely idea though and it does seem to bring everyone together so shouldn't knock it too much but it is going on a bit. The competition should be interesting.

I loved [ I mean, really loved; was raving about it to everyone] the first series he made, but it is getting increasingly formulaic and I don't watch it any more.

I find it agreeable to watch because it isn't too demanding, though increasingly predictable. I can surf Gransnet at the same time.

Has anyone just watched the final? I wont spoil it for anyone who might watch later.
The choir I thought was best won. To me they just sounded more together had a better soloist and put more feeling into their song than the others.

What was really good was a finale by a group of all different choir members. really well sung.
On this occasion I thought Gareth was particularly good at really pushing the choirs to make a good and positive sound to their singing.

I wonder what his next venture will be.

Thanks for not spoiling. I thought I had set it to record but kicked myself when I found I hadn't. Will catch it on i-player tomorrow.
