Last night I...

slept with my headphones in my ears and my radio on all night. 12.30 till 10 this morning. I use the radio as a sleep aid. I wake up for short periods in between, have a little listen and find it sends me back to sleep.

Anyone else do this?

It has to be spoken word. Music doesn't do it.

biker Hope your tweeking wasn't to painful. I have those very real dreams and it's so disapointing when you wake up! Did you know you were quoted in the Times magazine this saturday?

The useless rubbish interesting information people do pick up as they go through life.

grin

Elegran Mon 25-Jul-11 13:44:48

So they are multi-tasking socks?

I just thought on one occasion that it looked as though you were doing a teeth-bared menace, a la chimp!

(When a chimp grins at you, look out. It is a threat, not a smile.
Also, in gorilla society, it is very rude to stare straight at someone unless you are being challenging - in which case, look out - the gorilla will beat you in a fight if you wind him up. Gorilla good manners is to look near someone and just glance at them briefly and then away again)

Sorry, went off-topic there.

I don't put the sock over my head. hmm It just lies across my eyes. In the summer its just a sock, in the winter its a bedsock. It does get lost in the night and I have to jump around in the bed locating it.

The old feller puts up with a lot. smile

I'm not using the grin anymore because Elegran thinks its my teeth. hmm

Has your mind ever truly boggled? I have a picture in my head of jangly (faceless of course because she HASN'T POSTED A PHOTO yet) wearing headphones and with a sock over her head as she snuggles down to sleep.

BOGGLE (MACMILLAN DICTIONARY DEFINITION)
([INTRANSITIVE/TRANSITIVE] if the mind boggles, or if something boggles the mind, you cannot imagine it because it is too strange, unpleasant, or confusing.)confused

On saturday night I dreamt..that I went to my usual bank..and this counter assisitant came dashing over to me...he said "we have found this bank account in your name that has been gathering dust"!! he said there is nearly half a million pound in it...ohh hey!! it was so realistic...you when you wake up and not sure if you have dreamt it or what !! but it ws so real as it was the bank that I do use!!!! strange thing is one of the bank people have called me in to go and have an "overview" of my/our account..blaaaaaaa..its Natwest and they try and drag you in every so often to see if they can tweek!! your account..in other words they want you to consolidate evrything you have and take out another loan!!! they seem to entice you just when you are nearing paying off your existing loan!! but I am not! in the mood to be cajouled today.........so have primed myself lol.....I will wait for the usual "have you got house insurance and can we find you a better quote"!.... ok well best go and make myself look presentable ...bfn all.smile

Not only do I remember my dreams quite often. I also talk in my sleep from time to time – although nothing like as much as I talk when I'm awake. I've done it since I was a young child. My favourite was when apparently I sat bolt upright in bed and announced very firmly, "I will not have cats being unpunctual for their meals" and promptly lay down again. I have also described in detail a number of animals that I don't own, including Rowan, the mare, the Big Black He Horse whose name I can only remember when I'm asleep, and Alphabet the Pig. There's also a duck, but you musn't feed him because he'll sink. I have answered questions on Who Wants to be a Millionaire up to about £500,00 before falling into a deeper sleep and given an incredibly tedious lecture on odd-toed and even-toed ungulates.I probably have a much more interesting life when I'm asleep than when I'm awake.

glass, I don't remember my dreams either. Everyone knows I'm strange. Strange but not totally loopy like jangly wink

jangly Mon 25-Jul-11 10:40:12

Oh, you're not strange any more Glass. We're getting to know you reeeeally well!!! hmm

Gally Sun 24-Jul-11 21:24:15

I have some wonderful dreams and I also make some incredible speeches, using words I would never know how to use when I'm awake all of which I forget as soon as I awake - very odd! Like Bikergran I have to have peace, perfect peace and no light; I start off on my back, turn on my right and then finally sleep on my left - very regimented.

glassortwo Sun 24-Jul-11 21:03:42

helshea do you sometimes feel that you are missing out on something when you hear other people on about their dreams?

helshea Sun 24-Jul-11 20:57:53

I never remember my dreams either.

glassortwo Sun 24-Jul-11 20:38:24

I must dream but I never ever remember them, am I strange, (I should not ask that on here when jangly is about grin)

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 20:15:05

And I get cramp too. That doesn't help.

Pompa I dream if I sleep on my back! Its a shame cos I can relax better that way.

pompa Sun 24-Jul-11 20:11:47

When i had a hip replaced I had to sleep on my back. I never sleep that way and found it very difficult to sleep, I used my mp3 player and headphones to get off.

helshea Sun 24-Jul-11 20:10:48

*glassortwo" .. I'm the same with reading or even watching tv in bed.. I never finish a page, or watch a full programme. The wine is helpful too, especially at weekends wink .. I know there is a thread about drinking too much, but I wonder how much gransnetters do actually drink, I have to admit to a glass of wine usually Wednesday and Thursday, and slightly more Friday or Saturday depending on what I am doing or where I am going!

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 20:10:46

I have to do half hour on my exercise bike at about 7.30 too. That really helps.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 20:08:54

I have a sock by my bedside to put over my eyes to keep out the light that shows above the top of the curtains. That helps. It gives a nice cosy feel too.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 20:07:04

Wine makes me wake up later in the night with my heart beating loudly and fast! And I get bad dreams.

glassortwo Sun 24-Jul-11 20:01:18

A glass of wine does it for me,then read 2 lines of my book (sure its the same two lines everynight) head hits the pillow and next thing the alarm is going off!

helshea Sun 24-Jul-11 16:14:31

Last night I had a massive Indian take away and shared a bottle of wine.. the next thing it was morning!

Zephrine Sun 24-Jul-11 15:22:49

I get audio books from the library, listening to the words blocks out those whizzy thoughts and off I go. Next night I start from the last place I can remember!

bikergran Sun 24-Jul-11 15:17:31

lol when I! go to bed..It has to be perfectly quiet and dark! no noise no ticking clocks and no chinks of light coming through the blackout blinds lol..
you can see I lead a "very active" night life lol lol....smile
