Lend With Care -charity with a difference

Someone? As soon as I read the thread and saw the £15 off special offer it just looked like all those gambling offers that pop up. I don't open links that are shared on threads. That is widely known to be a dodgy thing to do.

I first heard of lend with care here, and had meant to sign up, but had forgotten all about it.

If you are concerned about opening links, just Google the information given and check the website, to make ill informed judgements doesn't help anyone.
Fortunately others appreciate that the benefits of this kind of funding far outweigh traditional donations.

Yes I see it as donating but nice to see where it has gone and what it achieved. I give monthly to other charities that are special to me. I don't think one is better than another it is all positive.

I really like the idea of lending a hand.
I've never heard of it, and I think it's excellent.

I was just thinking it would also make a nice present to my grandkids ( along with other things ) then they might keep it going after the original donation or would it come back to me ?

MrOops has been helping this Charity for over 2 yrs now, most of his money has been repaid and he is funding new borrowers to help their small businesses.

I think it acts as a very small business loan rather than people accepting ‘Charity’. Some amounts are quite small but are obviously a lot of money to the people who need the loan.

Some people want money to restock their small shops in small towns in Africa, it’s very diverse and covers many countries, many of the ‘borrowers’ are women trying to earn money in their communities some involving Womens groups.

I would imagine the recipients feel better about paying back a loan, than just accepting payouts. Let's face it, many big companies survive on loans.

This might be silly but it has made me so happy. So I joined today and had the free £15 and added another £15. I funded two people, one woman one man. He only had 2 per cent of what he needed and I've just had a message to say he's got all his funding now. I'm looking forward to seeing his progress and when his loan is repaid I will pass it on to someone else.

I agree theworriedwell it's a great feeling that (to me) quite a small amount of money has given a leg up to 4 people over the other side of the world, enabling them to achieve so much more than I probably would have done (I don't really need another dress). I will be helping out with Lend To Care as often as I can.

Yes it is lovely. He's a young man who has a mum and younger siblings and is trying to build up his little shop. I hope he does well.

A friend has been lending for some years and he has always received his money back he then uses it again to help others. I was lucky enough to win a small amount on the lotto last night so have used that money to sponsor two people. Hope it helps them to fulfill their dreams.

I am glad to hear of this. I used to lend through a charity called Deki, but they don't seem to operate in the same way any more. I always chose female recipients with businesses I could identify with, such as seamstresses needing sewing machines and materials. I reinvested the same sum multiple times.
