I’m sorry for your loss. I understand totally how you feel.
Someone who had lost her husband told me I’d get through the funeral without too many tears, and with my sons beside me I managed.
As for the gathering after the funeral I acted as if my husband was still in the room with me and I chatted to all friends and family. When my husband and I used to socialise we often spent most of the time circulating without each other.
To be honest I found the time after the funeral the hardest part. That’s when I really missed him. I still do but after four years it has got easier.
