I bought this jacket from East over 40+ years ago and I am still wearing it in the summer. It is 100% cotton, a little faded but I think it will see me out 😀

What is your oldest item ?

my mum had a wonderful long silk blue ball gown that I keep in my closet - sadly those days are past me now

My friend and I both have one of those M and S cardigans with the different buttons from many years ago. Mine is blue and now a house cardigan

An M&S stretchy, shiny polo neck, size ten.
Now a size 16, I am holding onto it. Just in case.....

Sorry, wrong quote!

I will go back to steaming the floor. 🤣

I have a 28 year old Gap long sleeved white cotton top and a green and white striped shirt with a white collar from Matalan which is twenty years old! Both almost like new, I can't wash or wear them out.

Mine is a bit of a cheat in that I got it from a Charity Shop only a couple of years ago, but it is a Chanel Black Fur Purse (not real fur by the way!). It's gorgeous. It's a bit too big for a purse but I just couldn't resist it and use it as a small bag when we have somewhere lovely to go to. It's from the 1960s and I only paid £10 for it!!

What a bargain!!!!

Did you realise it was Chanel before you bought it?

Oh I loved those! I had a turquoise and white one.
Reading your posts I could kick myself for the things which have long since disappeared to the charity bags.
There just isn’t the quality or the style that I like today.
Of course I would have had to move to a considerably bigger house grin

I have another thing to add which l remembered last night. Our son had a function nearby and stayed with us overnight. He arrived very late and l was ready for bed. I very rarely wear dressing gowns but wanted to make sure I was decent. I remembered my dressing gown at the back of my wardrobe, which I think my Mum bought when I was expecting my first child in 1991. The reason I had not worn it for a long time was because it was too small. However, I have lost a lot of weight recently and put it on, not without some trepidation and it slid on easily. I looked at the label and it was size 12-14 with room to spare. It is from BHS and is a silky material and looks quite glamorous so I will be wearing it more often

I've still got my wedding dress from 1970 but haven't been able to get into it for years. I've also got a black, 1920s flapper dress that I used to wear to dances in the 60s. Very sheer so I used to wear it with no knickers so as not to spoil the line. The oldest garment I still wear is a long sleeved T shirt that I bought in QS for £1.99 in the early 90s. It's been washed many times but still looks fine.

I have my wedding dress from 1968, and my Mum's from 1940!

I have a long sheepskin coat which I purchased when I was 19. Haven’t worn in for about five years.

DH brought me two Gucci handbags in 1990, both are still in use.

I still have a black, crochet poncho that my grandma made for me approx 1968. I just cannot bear to throw it away although I hardly ever wore it. Back then there was not the choice in yarns that there is now and it always felt rough to the touch. Guess it was a nylon mix. It must be 58 years old.

I have my wedding dress from my first marriage. It was made by my then MIL.
Beautiful hand stitching on the hem and cuffs of the long sleeves. 54 years old. When I look at it I am amazed I was ever that slim!!!
I also have a beautiful soft black handbag my parents bought me for Xmas one year in the 70's. Its a sort of curved shape with a wonderfully snappy clasp. I used it as an evening bag or special occasions which is why I probably still have it. 😊

A beautiful mauve fine knit midi dress bought in Spain in 1970. My mother wore it for a while after me but sadly too small for me now.

I still have a C & A tank top with a matching short sleeved cardi from 1972 (size 10) which I still occasionally wear because it's quite stretchy. Well, very stretchy!
