I reckon the late Queen was born.

I think the late Queen was born in April.

was that the big industrial strike, i think i remember something about that from a quiz as today is a family birthday.

Whitewave2, I'm glad you said the first woman in Parliament, as the first woman elected was Countess Constance Markievicz. Being an Irish Republican she did not take her seat as she would not swear allegiance to the monarch. Lady Astor had no problem with that and thus became the first woman in Parliament.

On a purely personal note, my mother was 12 days old, and the infant who grew up to be Queen Elisabeth II was 13 days old. Her parents were no doubt aware of the General Strike on 3. May 1926. My grandparents were living in Copenhagen, so I don't suppose the heard about it until the following day.

It worries me that so many things are being repeated a century later. We've had a pandemic, wars, economic recessions and dictators. On the positive side, some advances in technology and science. Perhaps someone is being born around now who will make a positive impression on the world, like the Queen or David Attenborough.
