Which simple microwave is personally recommended?

For some years I have had a combination microwave oven with a grill and ‘proper oven’, bit more expensive but I only use that now,does everything ,baking, roasting , grilling. I don’t use my big oven except for larger meals, seeing we don’t have any visitors now this is ideal for two of us.

We have a basic microwave as we only use it for quick jacket potatoes, warming things up etc. It was from Aldi, £49 I think and it's fine. Does the job.

I have a Daewoo one that is fairly basic, but 800 watts, and easy to use and keep clean.

I actually swapped it in with my 'all singing, all dancing one'.

Not sure if that's any help.

Mine’s a Tower one. It was quite cheap, but fine for heating milk, making custard in, cooking veg, jacket potatoes etc.

Only snag, it seems to steam up after doing the jackets, but wipe it out well and leave the door open for a bit.

I have just had an email from ALDI and they are advertising BEKO microwave for £59.99.

ASda do a decent range of different microwave machines, from £40 up. They all seem to go rusty after a while whatever you pay so I don’t see the need to pay a lot more.
The first one we bought 40 or more years ago cost ten times as much, which highlights just how much cheaper these items are now.
Basically they do the same job so can’t advise other than go with your budget ( but you will be hard pressed to find one costing £400)

I've got a Matsui 800W microwave I've had for years, manual rather than digital operation, I use it every day.

Mine is a cheap one from Asda. Cost about £30.
Manually set the time and manually set the temperature i.e. Defrost etc.
I use it every day. It's 12 years old and looks like new.
It's exactly what I want.
However I do use my main oven most days also.

I have just changed my combi Micro for a Micrwave only. It is very good, a Panasonic Inverter. The defrost is amazing too.

Always Panasonic for me - very good quality. I don't buy the type with the grill/oven facility as I doubt I'd use it, I just need a basic microwave. I always choose the large capacity too - 27 litres or more, and a digital control panel - more precise than the dial type.

Thank you to all of you who replied. I have decided to buy a Beko from Aldi as I have other Beko products and the microwave was on offer. It also looks like the one I am replacing. Someone kindly mentioned Aldi but I cannot find the message.
