Friend with cold

I was due to visit a friend today for lunch. She has just messaged me to say she has a cold and do I still want to go as I won't want to catch it for Christmas. I'm not sure whether this is code for don't come or a genuine question. What do grans think?

With it being so close to Christmas I feel that she is being a good friend and doesn't want you down with a cold on the run up or even on Christmas Day.

There is a cold going about at the moment which I have had for a few days and am hoping if husband does catch it he is over it by Christmas.
