And thick grey skies every day and the cold! It saps any joy. Roll on summer!

Hot in Adelaide and desperate for rain.

Paperbackwriter
thank you for having the courage to post about the conspiracy nonsense that is being promoted that I, sadly, think is speeding up the demise of the entire human population.
I am always depressed at the complaints about the rain etc when I know that from the 1990s we were told that we were heading for a warmer, wetter world and we should be complaining to the governement, not each other. Many nations are taking action, France are making amazing changes.
For information sake, here is the Met Office thoughts on geoengineering:

Doubtless the idiots without a qualification to their name will still insist that they know better than 99% of the world's scientists including the Met Office. I just hope those idiots will be around one day to just see the terrible effects their stupidity has caused.

Scotland here, enough said. Just want a bit of daylight 😢😢

Beautiful couple of days here in Perth. Woke up this morning to another day of beautiful sunshine streaming in.

It was so warm yesterday, bordering on hot that he was jet washing the deck and walkways topless.
Today he said the shorts were coming out.

It seemed to rain incessantly all winter, but we have had virtually no rain for many weeks now. Both big water butts are empty for the first time that I can remember.

And with just few warm days here and there, it’s cold, too! Winds straight from Siberia, as my mother used to say.

Friend in Majorca says it’s been a lot colder and wetter than usual there.

Dh was supposed to be taking a new, temporary neighbour to the Isabella Plantation* in Richmond Park today - it was wet and blowing a gale just before he was due to call on her so he never thought she’d want to go, but lo, just as he left, the wind dropped and the sun came out!

*spectacular at this time of year, masses and masses of azaleas, all different colours, and billions of bluebells, but they’re probably past their best now.

Think of all the places in the world that are having volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tornadoes, wars, deaths, destruction, devastation....

A drop of rain and a bit of cold won't hurt you.

Glad he didn’t say the shorts are coming off 😁

We need some rain at times, but yes it’s depressing if it’s every other day.
We still have the heating on morning and evenings.

rain hail and sleet on the Oxford Plain yesterday,
four times we had a downpour, in between clouds cleared,
blue sky, bright sunshine, I could see how badly the windows needed cleaning
next minute the sky was Indigo, lashing rain hitting the house, felt chill

I’ve cleaned the windows the more clearly to watch the rain

TBH I was almost praying for rain - we’d had none for many weeks, until the other day. Yesterday there was really heavy rain with a howling gale! I must check the water butts.
The garden is happy!

It’s very cold here but we badly need rain. The ground is cracked and the grass turning brown. I’ve been watering some plants for weeks.
Any showers pass us by and we very rarely get thunder storms.

Allira Thu 14-May-26 21:15:26

Heavy brief showers, one a hailstorm earlier this evening.
It's warm when the sun comes out, chilly when the clouds come over.

Typical April weather in May.

Please send some rain to us we have had a massive 4mm since March, even now promises made go around us, were in the shadow of the cotswolds.

MawsRosie Thu 14-May-26 21:31:06

We need it!
The weather is not just about us, our comfort and whether or not we need to unearth ourvwoolies.
Agriculture desperately needed rain- crops, grass, animal fodder are all dependent on enough rain.
Anyway whatever it is doing this week it’s bound to be different next ☔️⛅️☀️🌧️❄️

I'm hoping all this rain results in a bumper crop of 1st early potatoes. It cost me a fortune last year to have to keep watering them and the 2nd earlies got scab because it was so dry. But a bit of sun would be nice too.
