For me it is the root of the celery which we used to fight over, bacon rind (very hard to find), banana toffee which stuck to your teeth and blancmange/symington table creams. Ponds face cream, and Armani hair gel. The gel would be so thick sometimes it had to be washed out! Guess I’m giving my age away ?

Just remembered something else that is no more, Gripfix. It was a thick white glue in a tub - I loved the smell of that too - it smelt of almonds. Hope it was safe to sniff!

I remember using a white glue in a large jar at school that smelled of Almonds. We used to call it marzipan glue. I sniffed it all the time - an original glue sniffer !!!
Wouldn't be in use today being as it was in a glass jar. However, the texture was not unlike pritt stick today which schools do use. Much more expensive I should think though.

Amami hair setting lotion?

Really nice, homemade beef dripping with lots of jellied meat juices at the bottom of the container.

Apart from the cost of a good joint of beef and the fact that I, actually, I am not that fond of roast beef, modern joints simply do not have enough fat on them.

We have a lovely sandwich shop/bakery that sells pork and beef dripping just as you describe.
I’m struggling to find Melba toast and supermarket own brand thick cut marmalade

Aqua Manda scent and Fresh Lemon Soap by Palmolive, and those small oblong sweets called Banana Split.

You can buy blocks of dripping in Tesco. Yes, Ponds face cream is on Amazon but what a price! It used to be one of the cheapest.

just seen this thread, it brilliant. agree so many things missed - cadburys milk tray bar- had an aunt who used to work at cadburys and we would get a big box of mis shapes at xmas. i have an old bottle of original aqua manda, spangles but was not so keen on the all mint ones that they used to do, i think they were trying to copy polo mints. spanish gold and potato puffs = saturday morning at the abc minors club. my children were brought up on virol

Proper Newberry fruits with liquid centres. Thought I’d found them on Amazon a while ago but they were dry and disappointing. Also coffee cream chocolates. Again, I’ve been happy thinking Ive found them but they are too sweet and lacking in coffee flavour.

Ali08 i thought yogi bars were something you could only get at our local small sweet shop as i had never heard of them being sold elsewhere

Kunzel cakes. Cherry lips, floral gums and fizzy fish. There's an old fashioned sweet shop in our city centre that sells fizzy fish but they are not like they used to be. When we went to the cinema, we used to buy buttered chocolates, which were similar in principle to chocolate limes (minus the lime) and had a thin, crisp case and a chocolate interior. They were gorgeous. I have always been addicted to sweets!

I loved Avon's Charisma, and a perfume my sister had, in a tiny bottle, called White Fire. I used to buy sachets of Aqua Manda bubble bath for a scented soak in the bath on Saturday afternoons before my boyfriend arrived in the evening... It was wasted on him, unfortunately, as he was vain and completely self-centered. He was not The One. When The One, aka my DH, eventually appeared on the scene, I had gone beyond the Aqua Manda stage. I am tempted to buy it now, though, but people say that the smell is different.

Eau de Givenchy perfume and Astral toilet soap.
Rhubarb and custard sweets and Midget gems the tiny really hard ones that made a lump and nearly choked you.

Rowntree's Golden Cup bars
Nestle Sweetheart (pudding)

Tuckshop Tue 25-Jan-22 13:53:19

Morny French Fern soap - lovely soft fragrance. Whitworth's dried peppers which were good for me as don't need to use a large amount.

Snorkel Tue 25-Jan-22 13:54:43

Flex shampoo and conditioner by Revlon. Simply the best. The smell and the 'bounce' it gave my wavy hair.
