The only thing I’m a little peeved about is the fact that my daughter has cancelled lunch because she has too much work filling job vacancies.
Another daughter left her job ( payroll ) with the police force last week and walked straight into another one with a substantial increase in pay.
So it’s not all bad ?

I didn’t vote for Brexit but my friend in America says there are very similar problems over there so although Brexit has played a part it isn't the only cause of our present problems.

I agree, but it's a major contributory factor.

I haven't seen people disagreeing with you. I have seen people (including me) objecting to your trying to blame patients.

I may not be the right person to respond as I can't convince you that Brexit has been a good thing because I don't believe that. I didn't believe it before it happened and I'm more convinced now. It angers me to know that people who had made lives here and worked here happily were made to leave and that people from these same countries are now being begged to return and have to be paid a premium to do so. When will we ever learn. ?

No one was made to leave, we still have plenty of Polish nationals in our town, and others from Spain, working in the hospital, and Portuguese working in hospitality. Just had to follow different rules, as we do when we go to live anywhere else in the world.

Well it seems to be good for the very wealthy who have made a killing in tax avoidance, and hedging.

So I suppose that can be considered a benefit, although their wealth is mostly held off shore and no tax comes to benefit the country, so the benefit is very limited.

The best solution long-term would be to reunite the island of Ireland.

In your eyes maybe, do you really think the people of NI want this, letting EU annexe part of the UK , to suit their protectionist one size fits all (it doesn’t) agenda. There would then truly be a border in NI , is that what you really want.

No one can say what the practical benefits of Brexit are apart from ideological sound bites about sovereignty etc which when we’ve got the likes of Liz Truss scrabbling around for trade deals and trying to join other trading blocs - will we get a referendum on whether we want to join that Far Eastern one?- Which maybe indicates we can’t cope in isolation. All very well to talk about wage rises but if wages go up we all know that leads to price rises and inflation which negate those wage rises and make those whose incomes haven’t risen poorer. Plus over a million of those who voted in 2016 have since died so they certainly won’t be reaping any benefits and those who have reached adulthood since then had no say and will suffer the removal

Funny you should mention that, Lucca because Frost is getting a bit of a pasting on twitter at the moment.

Apparently he's just told the tory conference that the NIP is a terrible thing and that it was the Remainers that made him do it. In view of all the statements he made at the time that the 'deal' was being trumpeted as the best thing since sliced bread, which are being highlighted on the thread, he is certainly a past master at mental gymnastics, even though his negotiating skills leave much to be desired.
