Are we all really not having our hair done?

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought this of Nicola Sturgeon.

Mine is just beginning to recover from the disastrous cut by a newly qualified hairdresser 7 weeks ago
It nearly behaved itself this morning.

I’ve cut my fringe a few times I’m getting the hang of it now, quite pleased with my hair at the moment growing a treat. Loving the thought of longer hair was really fed up of having it short. Welcoming the new style, dying it myself at home as I have done for last 50 odd years

Anyone else been watching Kirstie Allsop's completely bonkers craft programme? She looks a right royal mess, hair-wise, and I really like her for it!

Zoe Ball posted pics of her boyfriend doing her roots. I suspect lots of others are doing diy jobs, as well as their own make-up as the make-up artists aren't working at the mo. One of the male newsreaders on our local news certainly hasn't had anyone take home scissors to his but he's going to have to soon! My roots are awful but I wouldn't dare do them myself!

Give it a go ladies! The home colouring i mean- i dont usually try with mine,as its 'hard to take' hairdresser said& she often has to 'redo' the roots a second time- but,i did roots first then after half an hour,did through to ends,saved a bit in the bottle- then rinsed off-conditioned- then towel dried& as it still looked a bit 'lighter' on roots,used up last of bottle to redo root area again.Then left another 10minutes.Rinsed & conditioned a 2nd time.looks great to say i did myself & certainly better than it was! Used a mirror though to help see where i was daubing it!

As my hair gets longer I've resorted to using rollers again. After washing , I part dry it and stick it in rollers. It is looking a tad "bouffant", but better that than it hanging straight down over my ears. I don't think it looks so ageing now.

Doesn't Kirsty Allsop always look like that though? It looked no different on last years xmas craft show?!

I suggested letting the grey grow out (mine) to my husband but he was very much against it so I'm going to try to get some tint online.

Some people have naturally lovely hair, which looks even better when it hasn’t been straightened or curled.

My elder of 2 sons still at home(21) does his own hair usually for almost 2yrs now to save cash- but he doesnt do too bad a job,with hair clippers.but youngest (17 last wk) wont let him near his,so hes gonna look like jedward soon (he usually smooths it back with hair wax/clay) goodness knows how he'll look in 6mths!

DH hasn't mentioned me cutting his hair yet this morning so I'm keeping quiet ...

I grew my colour out a few years ago and it's quite a reasonable brown colour...for 67! I've resorted to tying it back with a twirly think and hacking my fringe as necessary....as for dh , hes getting a bit scruffy but no way will I cut it.

Try buy hair colour along with the foodshop online.(& yes boots ARE still selling it along with other 'toiletries& essentials' but a lot of the colours are sold out.

Yes a few politicians still look well groomed i noticed,(especially on the daily coronavirus update-) except poor Boris of course,bless him

I was due to have my highlights done the first week of the lock down.
I am about to buy a hair dye. I know my hairdresser will get to me as soon as the madness is over & will not be impressed but there is enough going on the depress us without getting a shock every time you look in a mirror.
I think it is fair enough that people on TV have a stylist- they have to have their makeup done because of the lights so why not hair?

Have to admit I do my DH's hair and have done since before we married (over 50 years ago). We went on a date and his head had been shorn and looked dreadful. He'd paid 6/- for it!! I made the mistake of saying I could do a less mess for free!! Have done it ever since!!
My own hair? I was nicknamed the cavewoman at school, and I'm back to those days!!

I let my hair go grey last year. I’m so pleased I did! I had an appointment to have my hair cut the week I went into lockdown, so that was cancelled. It was well overdue for a cut. With the aid of the bathroom mirror and a hand mirror, I managed to cut a couple of inches off the length - and it looks okay. I knew I would find an advantage to having fine, thin hair one day!

I have just had a message that one of the local hairdressers/nail bar is going to be open imminently with PPE for nails and hair? I think I shall wait ??‍♀️??

I don’t dye mine, but I do normally have it regularly cut. At the moment the fringe is very long, so I’m trying to brush it sideways but it doesn’t want to stay there. It prefers to come straight down into my eyes. I wouldn’t dare cut it myself.

I can't believe I threw out some old rollers just before lockdown. I have decided to just let it grow and if I have to put it up, can I remember how after fifty years? OH looks remarkably like Lloyd George now!!

I have very thick hair that grows fast and has a mind of its own. I had it cut very short just before the lockdown but I'm afraid by the time it sees a hairdresser again I will look like someone out of Dallas/Dynasty.

Hetty 58, have you not discovered the horrors of Zoom meetings? Great to 'meet' everyone, but the visuals are unforgiving. The light just bounces off grey roots.
