Prat Tabs (aka designers' logos)

People in/on the media like to show the brand tab because they get paid (or freebies) for doing so.

Anyone else just likes showing off.

It's a great scam isn't it!

You pay to do their advertising for them.

These goods are seen as trophies, I’m wealthy my bag, trainers etc cost £££££!

I will not spend a fortune to advertise some companies brand for them. My husband wanted to buy me a quality handbag for Xmas, I looked at the British designer named after a bush but couldn’t allow him to spend £800 on a bag I would see everywhere.
I had a bespoke bag from an old established company for about half the price, no logos but my initials embossed on the leather.
This company also refurbishes bags at cost.

Our house was broken in to last year, the thief was wearing a pair of limited edition trainers costing £180, our 3 AC were apoplectic!

Even my White Stuff cardie has their discreet logo on the back, I daren't unpick it in case the whole thing unravels.

Gone are the days when my mother and I unpicked the brand labels from inside our clothing.
She would hate this now!

I still have some 60s and 70s "significant" brand clothing but they have all got the labels removed!

I am not in the least bit concerned what other people spend their money on.

If I like an item , then I like it , if it’s within my budget I will buy it, but I could never purchase an item purely for its brand name.

I really don’t like watches with the brand name on the face , it makes buying one without the name rather difficult.
I wouldn’t say no to a Rolex though.......(sigh) .

I like Billy Eilish the one who was on t.v. this morning wearing the Burberry suit. I thought her clothing choice was awful and did not like it at all. I do not care how much she paid for it I wouldn't wear one if someone gave it to me free.
Do you remember Daniella Westbrook used to be in EastEnders she was a great wearer of Burberry and often in the papers, they used to print Queen of the Burberry Chavs about her, just a little unkind I often thought.

I think some big brand names you see are fakes. The top designers must find this a real problem.

IMO, labels are for the insecure or social climbers.

I know someone who always arranges her towels with the designer logo showing. Difficult with Primark.

Have I ever bought a designer item ? no I don’t think I have unless it’s come from the charity shop ??

Dinahmo she also had on dark glasses. Indoors. Perhaps they were just rather slow reactolites, like mine.

We don't generally wear designer anything. My kid has a pair of second-hand Converse and I have a pair of Skechers I bought at a discount store (they're for when I teach practicum as I need good shoes for that). That's about it.

It just doesn’t stop with the celebrities, My Grandaughter goes to a upper school where there isn’t a school uniform policy, and Designer labels are used as status in the populararity stakes, l feel sorry for those parents with more than one child at the school that are on a low income, it gets ridiculous when a pair of trainers and a hoodie come to more than the cost of a weeks shopping for a family of five, and don’t get me started on the tatty ripped jeans that look like they belong in the rag bag, but which had recently cost my DGD her entire birthday money and a sub from her mum as well!

grannypiper it's Mulberry. I have one of their original shoulder bags that I bought in Liberty's sale about 35-40 years ago. It was a second because the lining wasn't correctly fitted. It's very battered now and the colour is coming off. I tried polishing it but ended up with red on the shoulders of some clothes.

Callistemon That's a youff thing I think. I can remember wearing dark glasses at night clubs in the sixties.

I've just read in the Guardian a piece about Dior and Fendi paying millions to rent shops in Milan's finest shopping arcade. 5 million euros for Dior and 2.4 million for Fendi. So they need shoppers to advertise their wares by wearing logos.

I never did get the ripped jeans look but each to their own.

Celebrities and models are given designer gear. They don't have to buy it, only promote it.
