Apologies for being slow to get to this.

Ana Sat 03-Aug-13 20:09:36

Well as there's nothing we can do about it, we may as well just allow this thread to sink slowly to the bottom of the list...

whenim64 Sat 03-Aug-13 19:56:26

Same here!

Nelliemoser Sat 03-Aug-13 19:43:54

vegas Good! we are on the same wavelength about this.

vegasmags Sat 03-Aug-13 19:40:46

Nellie that's the other one that I also reported earlier, but nobody at GNHQ seems to be listening.

Nelliemoser Sat 03-Aug-13 19:33:01

I am just about to report a post on this thread made early today.

" Baby with Down's syndrome new face of swimwear label" I would suggest disengaging with this one.

LizG Sat 03-Aug-13 19:22:34

Bit of a give away calling us 'guys' this tends to be used by slightly younger people (not just young at heart) and it is a title I hate. I am not a guy! Still I did try to be nice just in case it was genuine.

whenim64 Sat 03-Aug-13 19:00:53

I've just reported it again. Some poor person could be getting unwanted calls because of this thoughtless post.

vegasmags Sat 03-Aug-13 18:53:51

I reported it early this morning, but have received only a standard email in response. There don't appear to be any moderators on duty. I only hope some poor soul hasn't been bombarded with unwanted calls - I bet ours isn't the only site it's been displayed on.

Anne58 Sat 03-Aug-13 18:49:58

Has anyone else reported it? Perhaps a bit of a blitz is called for.

I am actually seriously concerned about this.

glammanana Sat 03-Aug-13 18:44:26

Just wondering if they are making their way to Snowden Ana to gatecrash the party grin but on a serious note this tel no. should never have been posted on here the first rule of most sites is not to give out personal information.

Ana Sat 03-Aug-13 18:35:55

Dereliction of duty...(shakes head, sadly). It must have been a wild night at GNHQ!

Ana Sat 03-Aug-13 18:34:44

I said that too! What if it's a Red Hot Porn number - Gransnet could be accused of soliciting...!

Anne58 Sat 03-Aug-13 18:24:46

I still say it shouldn't be here! (Even if the OP was genuine)

Elegran Sat 03-Aug-13 18:14:31

"Oftel records show that numbers starting 07969 9 are allocated to Orange."

As it looks like a mobile phone number the area code is not available.

Putting it into whocallsme.com/ and www.unknownphone.com/ and a couple of other number tracing sites did not bring up any reports of nuisance calls from it, so I think it is a genuine number.

Ana Sat 03-Aug-13 17:59:39

Nooo - it might be a premium rate one.....or one that costs £150!! shock

kittylester Sat 03-Aug-13 17:57:26

Has anyone tried the number grin? That'd scare them!

Anne58 Sat 03-Aug-13 17:43:29

I am amazed that this is still "live" phone number and all!

when I'm inclined to agree with you. It strikes me as rather irresponsible that GNHQ have left it in the public domain.

vegasmags Sat 03-Aug-13 12:51:32

I also reported the post on another thread made by this contributor. That was early this morning and I have received the standard email response from GNHQ, but that is all.

whenim64 Sat 03-Aug-13 12:12:56

11 hours since first reported and still not removed! What's going on at GNHQ today? Have you all gone off to the pub.....sat in the beer garden in the sunshine, thinking you really must get back before someone rumbles you? grin

gracesmum Sat 03-Aug-13 11:44:30

I think it must be a (not very funny) hoax as Elegran and others have suggested, designed to embarrass somebody - maybe at a stag do/wedding day/ whatever?Wrinkly really has to try harder.
And if I am wrong- if "Alex" is desperate for phone calls from ladies (possibly) old enough to be his Granny - he is in a sad way.

Ana Sat 03-Aug-13 11:38:42

Anyone can view Gransnet - you don't have to be a member!

Elegran Sat 03-Aug-13 11:35:16

Maybe GNHQ think we are all old enough not to phone a number just because it appears?

We might even find that it is a wrong number anyway - like the ones that were around when we were young - "Mr Leopold Lyon would like to meet adventurous female for companionship/outings. Interests hunting, alfresco meals, sunshine. Tel XXXX to meet up." Hopeful lady rings number and asks for Mr Lyon. "Sorry" replies zoo reception "He is confined to his cage at the moment . . . "

kittylester Sat 03-Aug-13 11:19:17

Phoenix reported it - why is it still here confused

Elegran Sat 03-Aug-13 11:16:11

And surely you see, Wrinklygrandad123 that if this is NOT a genuine post (it happens!) then you are could be a "friend" of Alex whose post is intended to embarrass him? and to trick "old ladies" into phoning a complete stranger about their love life? No wonder we "old ladies" are not keen on this! We were not born yesterday, as someone else has just said.
