British railways (as opposed to British Rail) are still subsidised by the taxpayer in spite of being privatised.

Have just been reading about this on another forum. Word has it that a lot of MPs and their cohorts are financially involved with these companies.
My opinion is that the companies are too big for the government to tackle.
They have a tiger by the tail.

Network rail was re-nationalised because they were in such a mess - that what you mean absent. They have just built a magnificent new headquarters here - enormous - with 2 multi stories, gym etc etc and I hope that it will be better value for us than offices in Euston hmm
