10 bunches of flowers

I was sent flowers by DS2 in January and they were terrible. As they were ordered from USA I knew they would cost a fortune. MY DS who was here at the time photographed them and sent it to the florist (or whoever sent them). they were most upset and were happy we told them. I was sent new flowers the next day and they were lovely.
Might be a good idea to do that, who knows they too, might be upset about this.

The late Mr.G only ever gave me, I think, about 5 'bouquets' in 38 years of marriage and 3 of those were on prompting after our 3 children were born! At the time I felt somewhat put out like you Jess as they were mostly of the Filling Station variety and not a lot of thought had gone into it. It's a man thing . However, he did make the effort and what would I give now for a bunch of droopy yellow chrysanths!

jess I do understand were you are coming from, I think you are probably hurt thinking that he did not make the effort and just bought anything from the internet.

There is usually a reason for this--when I got the same treatment from my OH I asked him why did he not put any effort and he said that I never like presents that he buys me and he was right so then he stopped putting in the effort.

I couldnt help it, he would buy me stuff and I would just put it at the back of the cupboard.

Sorry, that was rude, had a bad day.... if only someone would send me some flowers.....

WTF, be grateful you still have a DH, and that he sent flowers, get over it !

Arriving not striving. Sorry

When my first DGD was striving I ordered an arrangement of flowers in shades of pink to greet mother and daughter as they arrived from the best florists in this city. Purple and green was the overall impression. I rang up. I've some lovely green chrysanths she said. Green is not pink I said and had to repeat myself three times

One of those days. Apparently I sent 2 ebay packages to the wrong people - which i kindly offered to organise for him. Am now in doghouse and he wishes he could send flowers back .

a/ don't do an admin task requiring attention to detail just after getting majorly flustered about an admin task that requires attention to detail. It just is not my forte.
b/ ebay is a pain in the backside.

OH once bought me some flowers and handed them to me - they were so ancient that the petals all dropped off as I put them in the vase - it was a bit embarrassing. I felt very sorry for him and furious with the florist who had sold him a dummy - she really saw him coming!

Yes, I saw the insects programme. I could probably quite enjoy the crispy fried grasshoppers and smaller stuff but some of those things were just too big. I don't know whether the flesh in something that size would be firm or squidgey. I couldn't cope with squidgey!

And, yes Jess YABU. My Best Beloved wouldn't know where to go to buy me flowers - I think after 44 years I would worry if he did!

No. 2 son sent me flowers for Mothers'/Mother's day, they must have cost a fortune. He'd specified the colours yellows, creams and purples as he had sent me flowers like that before and they were really lovely. This time the florist (a different one) had interpreted his instructions creatively!
His thought was lovely, I was cross that someone had 'taken advantage' of his generosity. The arrangement included 2 very large Arum Lilies, that would have freaked someone who thinks they are more suited to funeral wreaths (like my lovely Mum, for instance). I can only assume there were fewer funerals that week and the florist was stuck with a few afore-mentioned Arum Lilies.

They do brilliant worms. We bought some for the new garden and compost bins. It was strange getting handfuls of worms through the post.
Anyone see the programme about eating insects etc on TV this week?

Wiggly Wigglers do nice worms though. Do you have a wormery?

I always feel guilty if I get flowers that do not come up to scratch or last any time - as if it is my fault. It's not so bad when the giver isn't there to see how quickly they hit the green wheelie bin, but harder if it is DH. Bless him, at least he tried - if not quite hard enough! Give him a hug and say they are lovely but he really shouldn't have. (And drop a hint in a little while Waitrose or Flying Flowers are generally more reliable!)

I'm trying. Not a talented arranger. Looking like the church vestry here, before the flower arrangers arrive. I think he was probably envisaging lots of seasonal ones instead of armfuls of chrysanths. Bless him.
There is a particular feeling about having an unreasonable feeling isnt there. Perfectly valid straight forward emotions so much easier.
I think he just wanted to say thank you for my recent heroic efforts to get a few things organised.

Hmmmm JessM Wiggly Wigglers. They are normally quite decent. I think you should take a photograph of them and send it to them. They are not cheap either. Sorry if that adds fuel to your fire.

YABU because it is the thought that counts. Maybe the ten was a mistake, as someone has suggested. It's a shame if they are not nice, but that's probably (in fact, almost certainly) not his fault. Do what you can with the good ones and compost the rest.

No not suspicious at all mishap . It is partly the fact that they are,apart from the 3 bunches of pink tulips, not that nice and some decidedly past it. If I had paid for them I would complain about the quality. Don't order flowers from Wiggly Wigglers. In fact online flowers never that great I think. They are not designed to be put in a box and kept in the back of a van for a long time are they. Mood improving.

Gift horses and mouths and all that. Just be glad he sent you you them.

OH always sends me large tacky cards and often bunches of flowers on Valentines etc. - frequently theyrerally are not what I would have chosen. I am just glad that he bothers to send them.

It's the thought that counts and all that.....or are you supicious of the thought behind it?!!

Is it a special occasion or is there some special reason why he would send 10 bunches? Perhaps he didn't realise he had ordered that many???Please try not to be too cross with him. Sometimes men feel dammed if they do and dammed if they don't (kind of thing)

I got a lovely bouquet of flowers delivered to work this morning from DH for our wedding anniversary. It is not a particularly significant one either. I was quite taken aback as its not something he would normally do at all.

I get a similar sense of DH not really knowing me when he always gives me the sort of card that he likes for birthdays etc., when he knows our tastes are completely different in that regard. I know it's trite, but yes I suppose we should just be glad that they do send us cards and flowers, as vq says!
