Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

J52 Tue 29-Apr-14 14:17:34

Just listened on I player. Very dramatic Kirsty, rather Bronte! I think she should now plot her revenge!! X

Ganja Tue 29-Apr-14 22:49:01

I suppose Roy will now come round and return the set of towels to Jennifer! Really, when I think how that woman spends money the least she could have given them would be a Nepresso machine, a set of copper saucepans or a complete Kenwood mixer. I'd call her a selfish cow, but that would be to insult cows!

NfkDumpling Thu 01-May-14 23:09:55

Oh Tony, what have you done!

Soutra Thu 01-May-14 23:15:00

Missed it as with DGC - what has he done?

eGJ Sat 03-May-14 08:26:05

Tony's been the "new" Tony and messed up Pat's careful talk with Tom. Tom's not in next week's cast list........................Let's hope Tom returns!

Mishap Sat 03-May-14 10:36:21

It is beginning to sound as though whoever plays the part of Tom is wanting to move on - I recognise the signs!

sparkygran Sat 03-May-14 14:46:12

Oh I think I have found Archers heaven GN. Do we really want Tom to return he can be very boring about his pigs at times? As for the "new" Tony does anyone like him? I know I must get over the fact that "old" Tony is just that and had to retire but I do miss him.

If Tom doesn`t come back could he please take Helen with him and they could ride off into the sunset and disappear for ever into the wilds of Borsetshire

chloe1984 Sat 03-May-14 15:11:22

But if Tom has a larger vehicle he could take Jolene ,Kenton ,Elizabeth and the saintly Peggy as well and perhaps there might even be room for Susan and George.

sparkygran Sat 03-May-14 15:34:27

and what about the other saintly one, Jill, could they chuck her in the back as well

Maggiemaybe Sat 03-May-14 16:00:09

Can they take Ruth "Ooooh, Daaavid" Archer too please? After about 30 years down South she's still more Geordie than any Geordie I've ever known.

chloe1984 Sat 03-May-14 16:33:58

Do you think we could find room for Bryan as well but let's keep Lynda (just love her) and perhaps Dan can pack Shula in his kitbag.

Anne58 Sat 03-May-14 16:42:36

On the accent front, why does Jazzer still say "hame" for "home"???

And Lillian seems to be AWOL lately, but I can do without Matt "yeah yeah yeah" "nah nah nah" Crawford.

(Whenever the saintly Jill starts to speak, I still thinks she sounds as if she's just been goosed, and Kathy (not heard for ages Perks) always makes a sort of odd nervous sound before actually breaking into speech. Bert Fry does have a quite realistic accent, (I was brought up in Worcestershire and new many people who spoke like that) but none of them said "Whir" before going on to say something)

Mishap Sat 03-May-14 18:17:32

Hold on a cotton-picking minute - if they all go, who is left to listen to!?

Culag Sat 03-May-14 18:45:29

It would be great if they all rode off into the sunset! Then I wouldn't have to leap up to turn the radio off at 7 o'clock . I was brought up with the Archers but now I have had enough.

chloe1984 Sat 03-May-14 18:50:58

Well there is Rob who is just waiting to take over Bridge Farm and don't forget Willyum and Edwood if fact the whole Grundy tribe. Really wouldn't be the same without any of them .......well perhaps with the exception of The All Wise and Knowing Peggy (the village sainted one)

sparkygran Sat 03-May-14 19:49:42

Mishap I had thought exactly what you are saying and said to DD this afternoon if we dispatch all of them who do we have left - dare I say the Grundy`s everyone except the awful Emma or Emmer as pronounced by most of the cast and yes where is wicked Lilian and pl, pl don`t bring back Pip!!!!!!!!! Arhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

judidoo Sun 04-May-14 16:28:21

I think The Archers story is done for. Time to finish and get a new idea. The recent script writers have no idea how to do atmosphere or decent dialogue even though the cast is obviously trying really hard to keep going.

I heard the new Tony. His voice doesn't fit the moaning character. Tom is boring and so is the plot.

Agree about the sunset, but if the whiny Pip does come back I suppose she'll have a new voice too - and all the others who've been missing for a long while.

I used to enjoy listening but now go with Sparky's Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

sparkygran Tue 06-May-14 18:39:03

Is it time to put a more positive spin on the Archers - do you like my modern terminology - I have certainly impressed myself. Don`t want to consign them to the great soap opera in the sky - I have loved and listened to the Archers for more years than I care to remember and can`t give up on them just yet.

So who do I like hrmmmmm how about Phil or Nigel oh dear they`re dead lets move on drat and double drat am having difficulty in finding anyone I like oh yes Lilian, Mike and can`t remember is wife`s name, most of the Grundy`s how am I doing? Come on Supergrans there have to be more favourites.

Iam64 Tue 06-May-14 18:45:20

I'm with you sparkygran, I've listened to the Archers for about 45 years. I love the way in which their stories unfold in a more Real Life timescale than they do usually, on the tv soaps. Characters usually stay in character, e.g. Helen, a pain in the neck for so long.
I was so sorry when they had Nigel fall off the roof. He was a smashing character, and I'd have liked to see he and Lizzie grow old together, struggling with the twins as teenagers and so on.

I wish Tony would perk up a bit, Peggy would re-write her will leaving most of her legacy to her own children, rather than her grandchildren. Tom and Helen are young, and I think their parents should have been able to help them financially when they inherit, rather than the other way round.

I like Fallon, Joelene, and am enjoying Jazzer's gradual move into a slightly more settled life.

I loved the country myths and legends accompanying the disaster at the wedding.

I also still enjoy the grundies, and most of the archers.

Ganja Tue 06-May-14 23:58:59

As the wife of a retired Army officer I was rather horrified by the fuss Shula kicked up when she discovered her darling Dan was off to Sandhurst. You would think he was threatening to join al Quaeda. I suppose, with the current lot of sensationalist script writers, he will come back legless in a year or two.sad sad

Iam64 Wed 07-May-14 08:07:21

I hope not Ganja. Shula's character has become increasingly irritating. I preferred her in her youth, when she and Nigel were always up to some silly pranks. Hopefully, the story line with have Dan benefitting from his army training and becoming a gal tower of strength in Ambridge later in his life.

sparkygran Wed 07-May-14 16:54:49

Where is Hayley??

suzied Wed 07-May-14 16:58:29

They are obviously building up to a will she won't she relationship with Fallon and the policeman.

suzied Wed 07-May-14 16:59:58

And what happened to the vicar and his daughter?

Mishap Wed 07-May-14 17:16:13

Gosh - I have sympathy with Shula - if one of my children had wanted to join the army I too would have been horrified!
