Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

shysal Mon 31-Mar-14 08:28:42

Has Ruth lost the baby do you think? If so it will be a bit of a let down after the lengthy build up.

Soutra Mon 31-Mar-14 08:38:17

Yes shysal they made that clear last night - poor Ruth and David - a bit harsh for Mothering Sunday I thought sad but realistic. I wonder if there is a link with the sheep/cattle/lambing etc that goes on on their farm? And before you all shout " it's only acting!" - I know!!!

shysal Mon 31-Mar-14 08:43:18

Thanks Soutra, I am an Omnibus listener so would have had to wait all week.

Soutra Mon 31-Mar-14 08:46:14

Oops sorry I didn't warn "spoiler alert" blush

Nelliemoser Mon 31-Mar-14 09:35:04

I missed a lot of last of last week and the omnibus on Sunday I just got home in time for last nights session.

J52 Mon 31-Mar-14 09:48:45

Seemed to have missed the build up to Ruth telling David and was surprised to realise the baby had been miscarried. What a shame. ( yes I know it's not real) Sad theme for Mothering Sunday. X

The Archers remains my favourite soap. Soutra, I wonder if you are right about a possible link with the sheep and some sort of pesticide. That may be my imagination running riot, and it's much more likely Ruth had a miscarriage as 'nature's way' of responding to a pregnancy that was a risk. I missed Friday's and the sunday Omnibus. The last one I heard was Fallon and the police officer, romance on the horizon I hope.

Anne58 Mon 31-Mar-14 12:56:10

When I was pregnant with Jack and had my flock of sheep I could do all the feeding, filling hay racks and water buckets etc but was not allowed to do assisted lambing because of the risk of enzootic abortion.

Soutra Mon 31-Mar-14 13:47:37

That is interesting phoenix . It did cross my mind.

rosesarered Mon 31-Mar-14 15:51:12

It all went downhill for me after the death [and resurrection!] of Walter Gabriel! grin

Iam64 Mon 31-Mar-14 18:40:41

What's anzootic abortion phoenix. By the way, thanks for your interesting post on being a sheep farmer. Where I live, we're surrounded by sheep, and as I have a sheep chaser dog, I'm very careful to make sure she doesn't get the opportunity. Sheep farmers (and other farmers) work very long hours, in difficult circumstances often, I'd be mortified if my dog caused any problems for them.
One of the local sheep farmers has helped me hugely to train my dog that chasing sheep is not a Good Thing. It's largely been successful, she'll look at me when she sees a field of sheep, and come and lope by my side. I suspect she doesn't entirely trust herself, and I certainly don't. she has few other vices though, except she is a dog, and sometimes behaves like one. grin

Good to hear that you and your dog are behaving!

I do miss my sheep, although with the small number I had (50 ewes) I didn't really count as a sheep farmer, just a mad person with an odd hobby!

Iam64 Mon 31-Mar-14 19:07:22

Thanks phoenix - I'll read the link.

I had a few hens phoenix, like you, rather than being a farmer I accept I was a made person with odd hobbies.

BLOODY JENNIFER!

First she gets her own way over that kitchen, now Brian's agreed to let her go on that holiday with Lilian et al! Spoilt, that's what she is...........

Iam64 Tue 01-Apr-14 13:59:16

Phoenix, surely Jennifer can decide whether or not to go on holiday with Lilian. She's an adult (despite not always acting like one). Plus, she's put up with such sleazy behaviour from Brian, manipulation is her default position. Where is Mrs Antrobus when we need her?!

Anne58 Tue 01-Apr-14 14:52:39

I agree that she has the right to decide, and yes, Brian has been a complete sleaze bag in the past, but I don't suppose for one minute that Jennifer Byeee Darling will be paying for it out of her own pocket!

Iam64 Tue 01-Apr-14 19:15:38

Who'll be paying then phoenix, I feel sure the farm is a joint enterprise, and we know that Jennifer works hard to support their various fund raising shoots (whatever our views on shooting may be)

J52 Tue 22-Apr-14 20:18:59

The wedding build up has started. Omens of dead birds and spoilt wedding dress. Will it happen? X

chloe1984 Tue 22-Apr-14 20:34:12

I am sure Tom will back out at the very last minute leaving Kirsty with two wedding dresses and a huge credit card bill! And Tom will share the new house with Jazzer.

J52 Tue 22-Apr-14 20:58:49

I suspect something similar. He's being rather quiet and he didn't want to give Kirsty her present, in person. A bit odd for someone in love and about to get married. X

chloe1984 Wed 23-Apr-14 07:09:11

After being left at the altar Kirsty will move away to nurse a broken heart. Rob meanwhile will have left the dairy after a big argument over the new regime. He will then co-run the shop with Helen and will then be able to control all of her life. Eventually he will completely take over the whole business empire the farm, dairy, shop and even the sausages! But perhaps I am getting carried away?

Iam64 Wed 23-Apr-14 08:18:01

Oh no - poor Pat and Tony, what a trial their remaining children have been to them in recent months. grin
I do enjoy the country omens in the Archers and I agree, this wedding is doomed! I was looking forward to the wedding, as the choice of hymns included some crackers to sing along to.

Mishap Wed 23-Apr-14 19:34:51

Don't panic - all will be well! Tom will marry Kirsty!

Penstemmon Wed 23-Apr-14 20:30:36

I thought Rob was really "irritating Henry's" sperm donor dad and that he is just waiting to get Henry for himself and his wife Jess who can't conceive!

I thought they gave it away at the end of tonight's episode that the wedding will go ahead..tune in tomorrow to hear he wedding bells ring or are they just tricking me shock

Iam64 Wed 23-Apr-14 20:32:50

Oh No Penstemmon, is that what Rob's up to.

I'm on tenterhooks about whether Tom will cancel the wedding….. confused
