Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

Alea Fri 28-Aug-15 19:34:03

How awful to be trapped with an ar***ole that everybody else thinks is God's gift, even the ghastly Helen doesn't deserve this and I can't see who she could open up to, except maybe Kirsty?
Makes my flesh creep.

Alea Fri 28-Aug-15 19:34:40

Apologies to toads blush contrite

Iam64 Fri 28-Aug-15 19:37:26

Yes, toads are quite likeable aren't they.

Helen sounded absolutely shattered didn't she. Pat and Tony were so suspicious of him initially but Helen's happiness has blinded them to their instincts. Yuk - rape in marriage

Nelliemoser Fri 28-Aug-15 19:41:02

I just switched on to see what the reaction was. It's time to be seriously concerned aboit Helen something bad has happened.
Merlot your "handcuffs" comment might be on track.

Nelliemoser Fri 28-Aug-15 19:50:11

Iam I find it hard to navigate on Mumsnet I was looking for their comments on the last two days Archers epsiodes.
do you have any links? I am not joining.

Nandalot Fri 28-Aug-15 20:00:38

How can they all say Helen is blooming when she sounds so miserable!

sara4 Fri 28-Aug-15 20:22:05

If Helen has a baby he won't let her run the café and shop but will do it himself. Yes, watch your backs Pat and Tony and Tom, already he has changed the décor in the new café, against Tom's and Helen's ideas.

SloeGinny Fri 28-Aug-15 20:36:24

I'm going to try posting a link to the MN thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/2446072-Don-your-paisley-tabards-feel-the-static-crackle-and-join-our-Archers-thread-team-hug?pg=32

Hope it's worked.

Helen is obviously upset, how come no one has noticed? It must be a rape situation. Between the appalling Rob and the self-absorbed Helen, I feel so sorry for Henry.

merlotgran Fri 28-Aug-15 22:29:16

I don't think Rob has any desire to be the perfect father to Henry but he'll play the game when it suits.

I didn't think Pip would leave. I suppose she'll move into Rickyard Cottage seeing that Brookfield is soon going to be bursting at the seams.

Gracesgran Fri 28-Aug-15 22:57:42

Could the kids just move out to Rickyard? I wonder if this will make David realise his mother must stay in her own home. Have we heard how Heather has taken Ruth's pre-emptive decision?

Gracesgran Fri 28-Aug-15 23:17:54

Does anyone else think Ruth's attitude to how Rob spoke to Jim was out of character? I suppose she just wants Helen to feel OK. I have a feeling this will go further and Helen will not wake up until he shows violence towards Henry. She might talk to Ian.

I do want to stop listening. I feel like I have a glass to a neighbours wall and I don't want to feel like that.

Alea Fri 28-Aug-15 23:21:13

Wasn't that Pat? Ruth is at her Mum's isn't she?

merlotgran Fri 28-Aug-15 23:27:35

Helen will have to be careful if she wants to confide in either Adam or Ian. Rob is already blackmailing Charlie over NYE

BlackeyedSusan Sat 29-Aug-15 00:20:06

Glad you got that too merlotgran.

I suspect that if Helen is pregnant, (Rob specifically asked whether she had been out to get the morning after pill ) then Rob will start favouring the new baby over Henry. He will get pushed aside Rob has already demonstrated that he is quite happy to put Henry out of the way when it suits him. (put to bed and ignored if crying.) sent off to Grans when he is not wanted.

WHat is the betting he has an excuse to keep her in for the next couple of days so she has no access to the pill.

Gracesgran Sat 29-Aug-15 09:24:47

Your right Alea I did mean Pat. It's the Archer's stress! I can't tell you how much I am not enjoying this story line. I think I shall not listen during the week and decide whether to listen to the omnibus from the comments on here. Perhaps we could use a code a code sad for a little bit of Rob sadsadsad for a lot, with a smile if he or any reference to him isn't in that day. grin

Consgran Sat 29-Aug-15 10:27:40

So what's Rob up to then? Any guesses?

merlotgran Sat 29-Aug-15 10:46:22

It's not real Gracesgran hmm

Iam64 Sat 29-Aug-15 10:49:15

Gracesgran - I'm coping with the Archers story lines, sorry it's getting to you. I know this isn't the Corrie thread, but I can't watch Corrie, having enjoyed it for years. I like the pantomime humour alongside the real life (lol) drama. There's no humour and the story lines make this Archer's story look like an episode of the Waltons.

gulligranny Sat 29-Aug-15 12:35:43

Rob is after Bridge Farm and Peggy's house which she has willed to Helen. I foresee Henry being sent off to boarding school and Peggy meeting with a mysterious (fatal!) accident .... My problem is that I loathe Helen so much I can't be sympathetic!

And am I the only listener who wants to shake Saint Jill warmly by the throat?

Eloethan Sat 29-Aug-15 12:40:56

I suddenly realised how boring the Archers was and gave up listening about, I think, a year or so ago when Rob was relatively new on the scene. It seems this storyline is still rumbling on without him getting his comeuppance. I'm all for more thoughtful, slower drama but this is ridiculous!

Gracesgran Sat 29-Aug-15 12:45:40

You're right Iam, the Archer's has always had a balance of drama, the everyday and a gentle comedy. It doesn't feel like that at the moment.

bonji Sat 29-Aug-15 13:39:25

With a few gaps for various reasons I have been an Archers fan for years and still love it. DH can't understand the addiction and neither of my daughters could ever be persuaded to listen. I started listening when I was about 7 with my gran on a radio powered by an accumulater which we used to take to the local shop every week to exchange it for a fully charged one.
Of course some of the Archer characters annoy me but none as much as the saintly Jill who Is able to cook and bake just anything, help on the farm and with every village activity and seems to 'have it all' with all of her children, grandchildren and extended family living all around her. However could be that Ruth's mum is at last going to have a turn and be allowed into the Archer household!

Nelliemoser Sat 29-Aug-15 14:23:31

Blackeyedsusan I am quite sure that Rob would favour his own offspring over the "bastard" Henry. Just as a new chief Lion in a pride often kills the other male cubs so the lion king's genes survive.

Let's go and lynch Rob.

merlotgran Sat 29-Aug-15 15:06:29

Jill might be saintly but I can no longer take her seriously after phoenix said that every time she speaks she sounds as though she's just been goosed!!

Because she does. grin

Yes-the 1950's when Tom Forrest would give an introduction to the weeks' events on a Sunday A.M. on the Light Programme/Home Service? Then there was Walter Gabriel of the gravelly voice + son Nelson always up to something.Doughy Wood at the bakery.Len the Welshman. Peggy and Jack at the Bull-typical post=war couple. Dan and Doris at Brookfield. John Tregorran and Carol Gray sophisticated couple. Phil widowed suddenly and who found a new wife in Shula.Part of one's life before it was enticed by the urban/ sordid "Coronation St".(Black + white).I've got the book " Forever Ambridge" though.
